I got to thinking about this last night and was wondering how many of you guys have done any on-stage acting (ya know, the theatrical kind). If you have, please list any productions you've done...

"You Can't Take It With You" (1999)
--Mac (Man 3)

"The Great Pandemonium" (2001)
--Jarred Nusthorpe

"The Wizard of Oz" (2001)
--Tin Woodsman

"Little Women" (2002)
--Mr. March

"Last Stop 'til Christmas" (2002)
--Greysuit

We're also doing "Snow White" and "The Toys Are Alive!" later this year, but no clue who I'll be there yet...

love sex and the IRS
A christmass tale (or a christmass story) {I cant remember which}

There are many other ones I have done but I cant remember which and I dont have my sheet of theatrical accomplishments around either. Also I did all of these in High School. And please take my word that we were very very good.

I was on the forensics team in high school, so I guess that counts as acting. I usually just did improv scenarios, but for my senior finale I did a dramatic reading from one of the most illustrious magazines in the country. My delivery was in pure monotone, it was pure genius...unfortunatly I was not allowed to finish my reading or the tournament...it seems as though the judges did not appreciate the fine literary intricacies of Penthouse Forum.

Heh.

I go to a small school, and you've likely not heard of the plays we've done, but I love acting.

The only bad part is the stage make-up. Heh.

What's really great is when you get close enough to performance that everyone knows thier lines, but not so close you have to stress about it. You can do the funnest stuff. We went through an 45-55 minute act in less than ten minutes once, speed-talking [and running around like idiots trying to do the blocking.]

Or crazy accents. Heh.

What we usually do is the first and last words of our lines. :p It makes people have to think quick, especially if they have big monologues. o-O Songs get a bit funky...

Anyway, I do not have much of anything too noteworthy, lol. I have only been in four that I can recall:

West Side Story: Did this one in eigth grade. I was Bernardo. The overall performance was good I suppose, but, being that this was a Catholic grade school, they cut out the fight scene. The one I was looking forward to the most. Stupid principal... *mumbles off*

Jospeh and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat: I was one of the brothers, and an extra in several other scenes (yay for rapid costume changes!). I was going to be in their Spring play, but I missed one practice and the director threatened me with my role, so I just said forget it. It was not too important anyway; not really worth my time.

Clue: Hop forth to junior year! Last fall at some of my friends' all-girl school. Of course, they need guys for certain parts, so I was bribed with Mountain Dew to audition. I got the part of Professor Plum. I was probably the best guy in that one ^^, at least when it came to vocal talent. Mr. Green might have competed with acting stuff. His character had more humor than mine, and he is just a funny guy. So it fit... but he forgot most of his monologue on the final night. :p Mrs. Peacock had to remind him.

The Matchmaker: This one is currently still in the making. We are about half-way through practices. We perform on the 28th, 29th, and 30th this month. I play Ambrose Kemper. Not the biggest part in the world, but I guess he will have to do, lol. It was just a bit of a step down from Plum. I, again, was bribed into this one. ^_~

The following attachment is a picture of the main characters from clue. From left to right: Professor Plum, Ms. Boddy, Miss Scarlet, Mrs. White, Colonel Mustard (in the back), Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green (in the back), and the piano player (may not seem like muchof a lead role, but is quite critical to the musical ;)).

*is jealous* That sounds [and looks] like so much fun!
Lol, it really was a lot of fun. An even better part about it is that the audience gets to participate. What we did was have placemats out on all of the tables that were set up that had the cast list on it and the story behind the musical and other stuff, but it also had an area on it that listed all of the rooms, weapons, and suspects. Then, with every clue that was given throughout the performance, the people could mark down their thought and stuff. The musical has multiple endings for each suspect in case you did not know. ^_~

I had a lot of fun as Plum. To begin with, he is the one who ties the noose in the rope, and I already knew how to do that. One time for practice I took some rope I had here at home, tied a noose in the end of it, and wore it as a tie. ^^ That, and, since Plum is hit on by Mrs. White and hits on the Detective, I gave him this "ladies man" kind of air. If I were coming on stage with a group of people, then I would make sure to have a girl on one arm. :p It was funny.

Kind of ironic considering my motto for the play was "No love for the Plum" (it was because he did not end up with a girl in the end).
Meanwhile, our latest attempt at a musical production was cancled due to half the cast not showing up to preactice.
:drunk: ... Smack them. Smack them all.

There is no excuse for such actions!

"Kids" (middle school play, 1995)
Role: Tree #3

"Teens" (another middle school play, 1997)
Role: Dancing Bed Monster #2, Jury Member

"Little Shop of Horrors" (2002)
Roles: Voice of God/Prologue, Wino/Hobo #4, Audrey II (the plant), Shop Customer, Ensemble Singer

I've also done set construction and stage-hand work for a production of "Kiss Me, Kate."

These days, I'm taking an acting class. My first two shows (Kids and Teens) were middle school plays which required very little talent. I got into Little Shop because I was the only person interested in auditioning for the prologue (and I somehow got thrown into the Ensemble and playing the plant). I want to improve on what little acting ability I have and work on my vocal projection and singing.

Man, I havent really done much actin(like actin for a full play)since elementary school. But I guess I can name a few things I acted in...

Play: Hansel and Gretel
Role: I cant even remember. I only had like 3 lines tough.
When: 3rd Grade(1990)

Play: Sweet Sunshine
Role: Big Bad Wolfman
When: 4th Grade(1991)

Play: Oliver
Role: One of them friggen orphans. Dont remember which number.
When: 4th Grade(1991)

Play: Beginnin To Look Like Christmas(I think that was the name of it)
Role: Santa Clause
When: 5th Grade(1992)

Play: Caesar (I guess you could call it a play. We only did it for English class, but not for the entire school and what not. *shrugs*)
Role: Brutus
When: 11th Grade(1998)

I do some drama type actin for like songs and such for our youth group(like I did a small scene for the song "Free" where I was the man that was set free from the chains and what not.). Other then that, I havent done much actin since elementary school. That Caesar play, I dont even know if you can consider that a play since we only did that in English class. *shrugs* But hey, I had a lovely role in it. ^_^

But out of all the plays I did, I personally think that my "Big Bad Wolfman" character in "Sweet Sunshine" was probably the best role I've played. I somewhat got to be myself(at the time. lol)doin that character. At the time, I was into Harleys and that biker type stuff(not the type bikers you'd see today. I'm talkin 'bout them Undertaker, tobacco chewin type biker peeps. I aint hardly into that stuff now. lol), so it somewhat fit my character well. Atleast everyone else thought it did. :D But it was a fun play to act in. If I could go back and do it again, I definetly would.

We once had a sub early on and improvised the whole play to see what she thought. The end result was so friggin' hilarious. There were people missing, so some people had to double up that day, and we kept making comments about how everyone looked so alike. Sounds stupid in text, but it was greal IRL =p

I forgot to mention one I did in the 4th grade called "The Inside Pitch". I had the lead part, but it was a musical intended for children to perform, so let's not hold that one against me ^_~ (actually, in retrospect, it wasn't too bad).

8th grade-"Oliver!" Bill Sykes

9th grade- "The Man Who Came to Dinner" Richard Stanley
"Jesus Christ Superstar" John the Apostle (In the process we open March 14 and close March 21. And I don't get to be in the Simon Zealots fight scene because John (Which is also my real name) wouldn't get into a fight like this...grumble)

I just got into acting in 8th grade and I hope to be in a production out of school somewhere over the summer.

I just remembered something about when I did "Little Shop of Horrors" :smirk:
*ahem*
Not to make anyone here feel guilty *eyeballs RicoTranzrig* but none of my friends went to go see me in "Little Shop."

:bawl: OH, the emotional pain I suffered when I rehearsed every schoolnight from October to February, only to find that not one of my friends were in the audience!! OH, cruel fate? Why have you forsaken me?! :bawl:

 I'm just playing, man. That was a year ago. It's all in the past.

--young scrooge.
-Grease
--Doody AND the Teen Angel (double rolls became my thing:) )
-The Wizard of Oz

-Cinderella
--The King
-Southern Fried Murder
--Old Grandma, and her elustrious nephew (yes, the script called for them to be the same person)

Midsummer Night's dream - Puck.
The Children's Hour - Evelyn.
Bespoke Overcoat - a guy who didn't do much
A man for all seasons - alice more
Cinderella - cinderella
Sinbad - ivory
Rookery Nook - wife of man in trouble
Gas Lamp - Emily
A non musical version of A Streetcar Named Desire - one of the husband's rowdy mates.
And my crowning glory - a christmas three month job comprised of two plays, Puss In Kinky Boots and Titanic in Ten. For these, in total, I played a cat, a bear, a sailor, a floozy, a woman in distress, the back half of a donkey and a Princess. I also doubled for the King when he was meant to be swimming in a lake. On the second night I actually played the lake. Thank god it was only two performances, or I would have gone quite mad.

Not to mention being in the chorus for Lillian, Les Mis, and Cinders In Distress - a primary school Nightmare. I love theatre, but sometimes I don't know why...

I had to do a musical in year 7. It was the worst thing I'd been in/done. Then again it was a bunch of year 7's. I have declined to go near any thing like that since. Plus I hate public speaking.
I think I've been in a few other things, but I can't remember them...

Though I do like Role-Play acting, I've only ever done it with friends stuffing around on any thing that could pass as a stage.
(Does that count?)
lol.

Eps - I could drink that can of coke you have there.

Wow, I never imagined that some many people had done so many different things. I've only ever really done amature dramatics and school productions but I love doing them all the same.

Okay, with the Phoenix Thearture Amature Dramatics group (Blyth, UK) I did:
Smike (a musical adapation of Charles Dickens book, Nicholas Nickleby)
- chorus member

The Wind in the Willows
-Squirrel and villager #5 (with my first ever stage line 'He's saying Poopoo!)

The Mickardo (think that's how it's spelt)
-Pittysing's understudy and chorus member

The Vackees (a musical based on the WW2 and a load of london kids being sent to the country)
-Molly (I had no lines but a couple of solo singing lines)

After The Vackees I ditched Phoenix cause the director was a jerk, but I didn't stop there. In Middle school (years 5-8 to me, not sure grade wise though basically ages between 10-14)

Year six: A Christmas Carol
-Cratchet's eldest daughter, can't think of her name though

Year seve: Christmas day at the Buggins
-chorus member

Year Eight: The Rocky Monster show (a mictake of Rocky Horror)
-chorus again

Then in high school I did:

Year 10: Bugsy Malone
-O'Derry, the irish copper (and I got to poor talc all over a ex-mate of mine)

Year 11: Our Day Out (a play by Willi Russell about a group of Liverpool special needs kids going haywire all over this castle)
-Shop lady and chorus member

I think all in all I enjoyed doing the high school productions the most. I've had to give up acting at the min cause of my job but I want to go on and do a panto one day. If I got the chance I would love to be the baddie and get booed and hissed at. What bliss that would be.

It's my ambition to become an actor eventually. With any luck at the end of my gap year I'll be going to LAMDA (the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) to do a four-week Shakespeare course. As for plays I've been in, I've not had that many as such- we'd mostly do sketches on stage, and nothing major outside school productions yet.

Stupid Egyptian play (I can't remember it's proper name), in 1996 or so. I played the sun god Ra. I got a wear a cool eagle mask for that one ^_^

Cinderella 1998. My shame. I was the Fairy Godmother. In a pink dress, a falsetto voice and a massive BGC vaccination plaster on my arm -__-; At least I've not been typecast...

Various Drama sketches, in which I've had an arguement with someone, been a doctor, a soldier in the trenches in WWI, Aladdin, a bouncer and some guy in a cinema.

In the News Today (at least I think that was what it was called) in 1990-somethingmorethan6, written by Willy Russel, in which I played a madman called Ron who invaded a radio station.

The Beano Show, in which I played Gnasher ^_^ I loved that part, because I got to run around the stage on all fours in a dog costume saying 'Gnash Gnash'. Lovely.

Batman (a spoof, no less), in which I was Batman/Bruce Wayne/Adam West. That was great- I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Outside school at the moment we're filming a Naked-Gun style remake of Return of the Jedi, which I'm enjoying thoroughly. Although I've not been in anything professional yet, I hope to be soon. Like that'll happen...
