I've cosplayed once. ^_^;
It was in Korea, and my cousins and I just wore costumes to a convention in a mall together for Children's Day. (May 3, my birthday! ^ .^)

Anywho, I dressed up as 98 Athena, and here's what the costume kinda looked like. ^^;

Cosplay is a very scary thing, as proven by this photo of me dressed up as an anime girl.

Do not highlight this unless you want to know the horrible truth...
It's not me.
Seriously, cosplay is something I'll never understand. Could either of you explain why people do this? I just don't get it.

that really scared me for a minute.

ive seen a lot of pics of people dressed up as characters, but never done it. i tend to see this along the same lines as a Star Trek fan dressing up as a "whatever" for a Star Trek convention.
*hates star trek*
it just seems kind of dumb. i can understand being a fan. i can handle going to the con. a t-shirt or something is fine, but an all out costume is something totally different, especially when the costume doesnt even look right.

or to summarize this post...
"blah. blah. blah."

I've never been a fan of cosplay so when I attend the anime conventions I do not dress up. I think it Cosplay is one of those guilty sins that takes away from the genre. I can understand dressing up for halloween as an anime character but at every convention that's just a bit...overboard in my book. ;)

Well, I know that if I went to an anime convention, I'd HAVE to cosplay. It's always been something I've wanted to do. But it wouldn't do a halfway job. I'd go full out, making sure my costume was perfect and that it looked exactly like the original. Some people do VERY nice jobs cosplaying while others look like crap. If I knew how to sew, I'd have it made. *sighs a bit* If I did cosplay, my first project would be to make all of Chi's dresses so I could be beautiful forever...

I do it because it gives me a chance to be silly and dress in bright, colorful outfits. I mean, I can even be completely off the wall in a room full of these people. Why?

Because I'm the only hamster in a room full of ninjas and demons. ^_^

Cosplay has always been kind of scary to me. I doubt that I would ever dress up like my favorite anime character, unless I was with a large group that was dressing up as well. That way I could hide behind the group if I got really embarassed.

Besides, I know absolutely nothing about sewing. There are always costume shops though, so maybe I could do that.. bleh.

That is an excellent idea. You should come to Anime Expo in July, heh. ^_^

But seriously, Joshness, I wish I could. We wouldn't really have to do much except costume. We already look like our counterparts. ^_^
Heh, except that I am about twice as tall as Shinji.
