Fall
Anyone? I've got their album "The Great Southern Trendkill" along with Metallica's black album. TGST rocks. From my ears, it's the best album by them they've got. It's funny.. I like these guys. And than 3 Doors Down. The "heaviness" level changes a heap when you compare them. Ahh.. just want to know if anyone here follows this band? Alot. :therock:
treton_noir
Pantera is one of the bands that defined "heavy". a lot of people hear BS like "the used" or "3 doors down"(sorry) and think, "oh. this stuff is heavy." they never know what "heavy" is until they get to listen to "Cowboys from Hell" or "Revolution is My Name". That is heavy. Pantera is heavy.
Semjaza
I used to. Great Southern Trendkill is one of their better albums, although I prefer the older ones. Some members of Pantera do a side project known as Down, which finally put out a second album a couple years ago. I much prefer them. I've honestly never even heard anyone refer to either of those other bands mentioned as heavy before, but that's me heh.
treton_noir
Down is cool as crap, but dont forget about Superjoint Ritual. its Phil Anselmo (Pantera, Down) vocals, Pepper Keenan (Eye Hate God)guitars, (cant remember drummer)drums, and Hank Williams III (grandson of legendary country guy, Hank Williams. son of revered country guy, Hank Williams, jr.)bass. that blows my mind that HW III is in that band. apparently (from what ive read) hes really into country and really into metal. when he headlines a concert, he plays a half-hour of country and a half-hour of metal. he says that you wouldnt believe how many people dig that stuff. *hates country music*
Lady Macaiodh
::smacks him on the head:: I like country, especially Charlie Daniels. Pantera is so kick ***. I once has this 36 hour bus ride on Greyhound, & I listened to Pantera the whole time. I was sitting next to a Rabbi who kept giving me weird looks because of the sounds coming from my headphones. & I wasn't so dead tired by the time I got off the bus (from the adrenaline). When I listen to "Becoming" (from CD below) I feel like I'm God. Their best album is "Official Live: 101 Proof" in my opinion. By the way, Vinnie Paul (real name Vincent Paul Abbott) is the greatest drummer ever! I'll have to remember that for Hybrid's thread.

Bing
I like the 'I'm Broken' track. It just has an amazing guitar riff in it, sounds kinda similar to Audioslave's 'Cochise' in a way. Anyway, they've always been a bit too heavy for me, but I've heard a few tracks, and I like what I hear.
Fall
That;s the way it was for me. I first heard them at work when the manager played his CD after close.. and I hated the music. I kept listening though, then he brought in 'The Great Southern Trendkill', and out of it all, about 5 of the tracks on it were awesome. Ever since they've rocked. Semjaza
I've not listened to The Great Southern Trendkill in a very long time... but it always amazed how good of a singing voice Anselmo had on tracks like Suicide Note Pt 1 (I think that was it, like I said it's been awhile). Very few people ever believed me about that, but it is true. I wouldn't mind a CD that cut back his screaming and had more of his mellow singing voice.
