That's kinda stereotypical, actually. I have friends who are sophmores, juniors, and seniors, and none of them take drugs, drink alcohol, or just think about sex.
You just won't be as absolute when you're older. They might not do that, but they probably don't care that much either.

I actually have...quite a few friends who drink, smoke, and do drugs. And while I like hanging out with them, I have a firm decision not to do any of those things. Don't get the wrong idea, though, I don't just hang out with people because they do that kind of stuff; you'd never guess it even if you were around them for years.

I actually agree with Harry in this situation. When I was a freshman in high school I would overhear juniors and seniors talking about drunken stories and think about how horrible it all sounded. Little did I know that my sophomore year would completely change my ideas about all of that...

[Talking to younger people in general]: You can feel free to shun it now and say you'll never do any of it, and the rest of us can just hide our smiles behind or hands. But until you come face to face with these things, you really don't know what you're talking about.

I told myself that I'd never smoke weed even once because if you never start, then you can never do it again. I had a feeling that, judging from past experience (or inexperience), I'd break that promise and do it. It's not that I didn't want to smoke, I just didn't want to let it become a habitual thing. Well, believe it or not, I DID smoke one night while I was drunk. I don't regret it because I couldn't even tell I was high, due to the effects of alcohol. Therefore, I came to the conclusion that it's pointless to do when alcohol impairs your ability to feel the high. Yes. End of ramble.

What is my point of this post? I don't know...I just went off I guess. I think I'm just sick of younger members being so naive about these things. I definitely respect older members like Anna and Queen Asuka because they HAVE come face to face with alcohol, and have experiences that cause them to not choose it as a weekend activity. That's great, and I'm happy that they've made the decision based on experience. But when you're young and don't know what you're talking about...yesh...that's silly :whoops:

Well, I'm glad to see that someone agrees with me and actually respects my decision. I'm sure though, that through lots of hardship and trial and error, all the mistakes that you make in your youth will come back to haunt you. And it wont be a very pretty picture. Some say that ignorance is bliss, but in this case, I'd say pay attention to what's going on.

believe it or not, when I was a young pup (14-16) all my friends became major potheads... and acid "freaks" (is this the correct term?) and guess what? Never touched the stuff. Crap, I never got drunk before. Now I'm 19, and go around this magical world called the www telling kids just like what's his face, and etc... about how I managed to get through all of that just by having a negative body image and low self... wait a second. I have no idea how I did...

true story, tho folks.

I think I've discussed this with you before, but if I haven't above all things you should be yourself. Wether it makes you look like a loser or not drugs are wrong. The parties, and cutting school activies must stop.

Your heading down a path of destruction, and at your current age set the friends you choose to hang out with will mold your attitude. If you really don't want to end up a Loser in life you have to stop hanging out with these losers that are doing these activies.

If you disagree with me on these views, please at least ask yourself this one question. If those people really are my friends, would they judge or trash me for not doing the same stuff they do?
I will agree with him. A party every now and then is ok, but partying all the time means you either must have too much time on your hands or that's the only way you think you can make yourself fit in. Sure I go to parties, and sure I smoke a little green but I'm 18 and by now I think I can make my own decisions. You yourself should wait before you jump into all these parties, because one thing will lead to another and pretty soon you're going to become so burnt out that you'll feel tired all the time, and you will become distant from friends because the only thing you'll be able to say is: "Wow man that's cool". Trust me I've seen people ate out on dope, it's not all that cool, because that's the only sentence they said the whole time I talked to them.

Okay, first thing...Manslayer, you need to watch that post quality. Your post is very difficult to understand. And it's not an impossible ask; just look at Spikey...he's younger than you yet his post quality is far superior. It just takes a little effort.

You don't do dope but you've been "doing it"? Does that mean having sex? Hm...

I really dislike the idea of young kids having sex. Most of them have no idea how destructive it can potentially be to their lives.

For example, my mum was telling me about a guy who works at her company...he's 30 and he has an 18 year old son (meaning that his son was born when he was 12). His girlfriend at that time was 18 (obviously making her a paedophile).

And now, he's still paying for the consequences of that. I'm not entirely blaming him (because obviously the woman played a massive role in that situation), but still...I really personally disapprove of kids having sex at 12/13. You're just not emotionally developed enough to handle that responsibility.

I always cringe when I see young kids smoking, too. It really rubs me the wrong way. If you're 18, I really don't care what you do -- at least you're of legal age and if you want to mess up your life, that's your choice. But sub-18...it's a really worrying thought for me personally.

I could probably go on and on about that. But I think that mostly, kids underestimate things. And they overestimate themselves. Kids underestimate (and undervalue) sex, in my opinion (at least, those young kids who are actually having sex). And more often than not, young kids who smoke are also underestimating the damage of smoking.

It's really hard to avoid giving a lecture when you talk to kids about this subject. My sister is 14...so I think these things are really relevant to her. The great thing is, she and I have a good friendship. I give her advice on things and she always tells me what's going on in her life. So, I never lecture her...I just ask her what's going on and if she ever needs to talk. And so, she trusts me. And I trust her. That trust is really important too, because I know that she won't smoke for example. And I've spoken to her very frankly about sex -- I'm very confident that she won't have sex until she is fully ready (read: not for another few years lol).

So, everyone is different and everyone has different relationships. It's really difficult to give advice because people will always take things in a different way, you know?

Blah, I don't know if that makes any sense...just my rambling on the subject. ~_^

Gah, this happened today.

Two girls who are like little sisters to me, Jasmine (16) and Erin (10) were in a grocery store parking lot.

Now, this is Powhatan County, where tipping cows is a fun activity. I could see if it was a big city, but whatever.

They were walking to the car when this group of 12 or 13 year old boys started yelling explicitly sexual things at them. Erin totally freaked & got to the car as fast as possible. She was really shaken up & told the driver to get out of there right away. He thought she'd just shoplifted or something, that's how seriously on edge she was.

When Jasmine told me the story, it took awhile to register. After about 30 seconds I asked, "Wait a second. Erin, your sister?" The idea that 12 year olds scared a 10 year old like that was so weird to me that I didn't even get who Jasmine was talking about at first. I thought she meant one of her friends, or something.

Just so you know, James wasn't trying to insult you. You're new here, so you just don't quite understand the rules, that's all.

He was just encouraging you to use proper grammar to illustrate your point better. People will be more likely to take you seriously that way. It's not a big deal. I can see you are used to chat rooms or IM where you have to respond quickly, but here we try to spell things out. :)

There is a valid point to everything you said, & something to be understood by us older members. Nobody is saying you're an idiot. That term is only allowed in political debates around here. ::said wryly::

Did they force you to drink, too? I fail to see how you can be dragged into a party completely and utterly against your will; and/or do bad things against your will. lol.

Yeah, and you wouldn't look like an idiot in the process. It's in the rules that you have to have good post quality, which you don't... and thus, if you don't change, you are in grounds to be banned.

I'm beginning to think this thread has run its course.

We've seen some genuinely good points here about underage sex and drug abuse. But, I think the subject has pretty much been exhausted.

Nonetheless, I'll allow it to remain open for a bit longer--provided we see some relevant posts.

I've warned you about improving your behavior Manslayer, and you've cooperated by making the appropriate adjustments to your signature. And--I haven't seen any abusive comments from you following your remark about the Jewish.

But, you must make an effort to improve your post quality. The use of correct punctuation, spelling and capitalization isn't too much to ask. We expect this of all members to some extent. Your posts don't have to be insanely brilliant, but they do have to be coherent.

First of all aren't you a bit young to be smoking weed and doing 'stuff', if you start now in the future it may have negative effects. Although weed hasn't been proved as lethal or deadly it does have its effects, if you knew my friend Janek you'd understand -LOL- In conclusin !KEEP PARTYING! :p

another prescription by dr.septagon

"and if u happen to end up in a closet bring a condom"
Manslayer

If you are reffering to bringing a condom before you go to a closet to have sex-then this is the correct way of writing it-
you should bring a condom if you think you might end up in a closet
People normally have sex in a bedroom! I know it sounds weird but its true! Im serious! laugh
I know 6 year olds who write clearer with less mistakes, you should consider going back to primary school laugh
Only a low-life would have sex with a girl whenever he gets a chance, you have to be such a loser thinking this is the best chance ur gonna get, a drunk 16 year old girl.
You say girls are your life.....WHAT LIFE? to me you are lower down the food chain than an invertebrate! :butthead:

I'm going to close this.

Even though the replies in this are kind of old, this keeps getting bumped to the top, and I really think Sushi/Cyko has been grilled enough by everyone in this thread.

I agree with Charles. This thread has run its course, and the recent post by dr. septagon is basically showing the way I think this thread is going to run if I let it stay open.
