:D You don't need to do drugs and have parties to be cool, NOSTALGIA ALERT: The Day I finished my GCSEs me and some freinds went bowling in this tiny four lane bowling alley in Hadfeild (Roysten Vasey anyone?) We were on the train on the way back and I was basically sayin how sad I was cos I had never drunk alcohol (I still haven't and I'm proud to say it, and glad of it about two weeks ago) My friend basically said the opposite, she thought I was really cool cos I don't have to drink or do drugs to have fun.^_^ I'm 17 and I've had a total of two boyfriends, but both of them were (and one still is) deep, meaningful relationships, so chill out and slow down. If you rush things now you'll regret it later. :D

At least you can see my point in this. There's no use in making a point half the time if no one can understand it. Everyone has a prejudice that they shouldn't, mine is kids. Ofcourse with all prejudice, it doesn't apply to every single one of them, I'd like to mae that clear. My use of the words "some" and "most" are not incidental.
Yeah I was trying to keep away from the whole alcoholic?s angle, mainly because I didn't have enough time to type it.

I agree with your second paragraph to. Every one has prejudices, if you cannot find what that prejudges is and can't accept that that is just how you are then you are a very sad person.
I fail to see that partying with drugs and sex is a "normal" actvity for a 13 year old. I certainly wasn't having sex at 13.

When i was 13, I was playing basketball with my 13 year old friends. Actually they were older. I was playing video games all day long when I wasn't sleeping or at school. I mean shouldn't you just begin to masturbate at 13 and not having sex?
you took the words right out of my mouth, i mean im 13 and i havn't done any of that stuff (cept for a bit of some mad dog, and supervised parties). IMO you shouldnt be even thinkin about any of that stuff, cept for sex cause thats normal...but you shouldnt be having it or anything.

also where are all the parents in these situations...i mean wouldnt they kinda care if you and your friends were goin around havin sex and doing drugs and crap like that?? ...unless you are like white trash and your parents dont care what you do.

i say stop tryin to be cool and doing drugs and crap...you look more like a loser, you shouldnt be doing any of that crap until at least 12th grade, and even then you are still too young to be doin it. i mean ive seen people that have gone down the wrong path, or who are goin down the wrong path (i.e. my brother). so dont do it.

This is exactly the case. You probably know this because you know me better than 90% of the people at these boards. Like you said, it certainly isn't based on tests, I hate standardized school tests. You and I had the chat about making ever child take the common sense test. Even though it's a test, it's not an acedemic one. It's the people who lack that common sense to realize that you can get pregnant if you have sex, you can die if you do drugs, etc etc. Do you know how many kids have NO idea what a condom is? Thats why kids smoke. Because peer pressure and the fact they think "hey, it won't matter if I smoke a few cigarrettes" then by the time you know it, they are smoking 2 or 3 or whatever packs a day and they die by age 40. Same with drinking "hey if I drink a few beers I'll be alright to drive home" and then by the time you know it, they're dead on the side of the road next to their car which they proceeded to wrap around a tree. The reason I don't like kids most of the time is because they lack simple common sense. My BROTHER lacked that common sense (a fine example, he was 14 or 15 and he put plastic in the oven. He put a plastic salad mixer in the over. How dumb do you have to be to put a PLASTIC salad mixer in the oven)

I'm 14 and I haven't come close to having sex. I haven't had a drink of alcohol in my life. I've never touched drugs. And I've only ever gone to something like 3 parties, 1 of which was a school dance.

I'm fine. Perfect. Couldn't be better.

I'm sure if I went and got a blow job off some girl my age, went and had a few drinks, and sniffed up some pot, I'd be alot worse.

You have to think man. See how you haven't "done it" yet. Follow it. Wait 'till you're older. It wouldn't be nice being a 14 year old father, when you're looking after the kid instead of hanging out with your mates.

I've been talking to this girl [no names, though, so heh.]. She's 13, and she hasn't got her period yet. She says that it's the perfect time for her to have sex, because she can't get pregnant. [sarcasm]Smart, hey?[/sarcasm]

Basically, she can get pregnant too. It is altogether possible at that age to get pregnant without having had her period yet. All she needs is the wrong time. Having her period means that she has already ovulated, which means that, had she had sex those two weeks before her period, it would have been during ovulation. Thus; high chance of pregnancy.

And then there's the whole moral issue, but I'm not going into that.

If you're ready to face the consequences [which you probably aren't, seeing how old you are], then by all means, have sex. *snort*

A teenager, or if she's older, a person who was once a teenager?

fate, shut up. who are you to go determining the pshycology of teenagers?
Considiring that fate is right in a way. Teenagers(of which i am) are very self centered and such. Were all spoiled brats, and act like it all the time. So why shouldn't we go out and do whatever makes us feel good? ** thats the mindset of my city at least**

Fate uses what he/she said in a generalization. Some teenagers aren't like that at all, and those are the exceptions. However, most are living for themselves, and for their own personal pleasure, just like most people alive today.

It's human nature to be selfish.

When you're a child, you want the world to turn when you want it to turn, and you want everything you do to go your way. It's natural; it's normal.

When you enter your teen years, that selfishness is still there in the regard that you're still a child who has yet to realize the world doesn't revolve around you. I know that until I met my current boyfriend, I was still a selfish person. I didn't truely know what it was to give something up to someone else and think nothing of the loss. It's all a part of growing up.

I'm not saying that all teenagers are selfish and strut around with pseudo-intelligence, but it's a large part of the maturation years [I think I just made up that phrase...].

It's sad in a way, but I know that I, too, was a part of that guilty majority. I'm not going to deny any selfishness I exuded because it used to be a huge part of who I was. As for the pseudo intelligence...I don't think my intelligence was THAT "pseudo". I willingly accepted the views of others and didn't think myself smarter than those who were older, wiser, or more experienced than myself.

Anyway, I don't think it's mean to call teenagers the things that Fate did, but I don't think it's fair to call it sad, either. It's just the way life is, everyone grows up sooner or later. Some just take longer than others.

Wow, I just read through all the things that were said since my last post and now I have to get on with personal experiences. If some of the things I say don't help you and make you think twice, then I don't know what will.

Alright then...

Both of my parents partied and smoked pot when they were teenagers. My mom got pregnant with me. They weren't even married. My dad wasn't even divorced from his first wife yet. They were only 18 and 19. My dad got married the first time at either 16 or 17 because he got his first wife pregnant. That marriage completely fell apart.

Well, they decided to get married and now I have two younger sisters. My parents still drink. My mom drinks beer almost everyday. My dad on occasion likes to drink liquor. This past Christmas season, a few weeks before the actual holiday, they went to a party. Both of them were drunk. Let's just say that lots of blood and violence followed. It was very heartbreaking for me and my sisters to have to see that.

I don't understand why people think that alcohol or smoking or other things is cool. Why does everyone have to talk it up like it's the best thing in the world when it's so harmful and so hurtful?

I would think that if your parents made those mistakes that you would want to NOT do it because you wouldn't want to be in the same boat as them. You wouldn't want to smell like nasty cigarettes and have rotten teeth and get pregnant when you are in the 10th grade or so.

Both of my older sisters, the children my dad had with his first wife, got into that stuff when they were your age. Both of them now have children and neither of them graduated through high school. My sister Brittney would be a Senior this year, getting ready to go to college, but instead she has a year old child. Her boyfriend? He was only a Sophomore when she got pregnant. He was going to go to college on a football scholarship, but now all that's gone for him.

It makes me sad to know that my sister Brittney will not have alot of the opportunities that I'll have. She was very smart and very attractive, but now she has a GED and plans to go to hair school when she could have graduated from college and done something spectacular with herself. Where does she work now? Hooters.

And my oldest sister, Aprill...She has a son that has been in the hospital since he was born last month. She doesn't work. Didn't work. Her boyfriend, a 28 year old guy who already has a 3 year old daughter and is not divorced from his first wife, can barely pay for him and her to live. She's living with her grandmother, I believe. I don't see her ever making it anywhere...

Maybe I went off on a bit of a tangent, but getting into things like that at your age now will have sore consequences in the future.

Tori, you really have a unique perspective on it.

It's funny about parents. In your case, you learned from negative example & don't want your life to turn out that way.

In my case, I was so seriously sheltered that I went wild as soon as I got any freedom. I thought my parents were as dull as could be.

Maybe we should all just act the opposite of how we want our kids to act, lol.

Well, if we do that, then hopefully we can see and notice when they lie, and say that they're not going to a druged up party, when infact, it is so incredibly possible, they shouldn't go until later in life.

( first day of school after spring break, i'm not making much sense today. Did that make sense?)

This is very true,

But it is also our nature that allows us to have the drive or willpower if you must, to resist the selfish side of our selves. (I know its off subject a little but I couldn't resist saying something about it. J

....I say, do it! do it! Have sex and go do some drugs, experience it. Get to know what will be around you for awhile. Sure, first times are always hard with drugs but hey, you will get over it.

See, the thing is with me, I believe that everyone should experience CERTAIN things. Not all, because there are somethings that NO ONE should experience...:) Its just that drugs and sex is something that you have to become familiar with because you will be getting it more offend when your older if its happening now. Well thats just how I think it will all pan out to be. But hey, I could be wrong.

Well, nobody has to get familiar with drugs.

I wouldn't encourage any of that, either.

I'm 13 too, and I wouldn't even think about doing those things.

I'm not calling you a bad person, Dan. I just don't think it's the best thing to do in your early teens. = \

That's kinda stereotypical, actually. I have friends who are sophmores, juniors, and seniors, and none of them take drugs, drink alcohol, or just think about sex. = \
