Anime Expo 2003

Hello everyone. I was just wondering if anyone else was planning on attending this year's Anime Expo, which is taking place July 3-6th in Anaheim, California.

Last year's event took place at the Long Beach Convention Center, but this year they are going to the slightly smaller Anaheim Convention Center (Right next to Disneyland!)

Since the Anaheim convention is smaller than Long Beach's, it would be best to get your tickets early:

A four-day pass for the entire event costs $50.

A two-day pass for an adult costs $40.

A one-day pass for an adult costs $20.
The best thing to do would be to get your tickets early, because certain days tend to be more active than others. Pre-registration is only available until May 15th, after that you will have to buy your tickets at the door. Since I live in the general area, I will probably go to all four days. If you plan on going, post what dates you can attend, so maybe we could organize a group of OB-ers.

Also, the hotels in the area acan only hold so many people. So if you plan on going and don't have somewhere to stay, make reservations ASAP.

The actual convention isn't for a while, so an official list of activities has not been announced. But in past years they have had live panel discussions, anime film premieres, anime music video contests, karaoke contests, art shows, cosplay competitions and dance parties. Ok, the dance parties sound frightening, but the rest of the event sounds like a lot of fun.

Note: This sounds an awful lot like an advertisement, but it isn't. I'm just trying to make the information available to my fellow Otakus.

Wow, I'm lucky, that's the same time that I'm going to be staying in San Deigo. I suppose I'll have to beg my parents, if it isn't too far North (I can see it on the map!). ;) Can you order tickets online or something? Or do you actually have to go somewhere in the general California area?

EDIT: We're going to be staying in Los Angelos for a little while, but we won't even get to California until late on the 6th!!! Noo!!! *cries* I'm so unlucky...

Well I've stated it I think two times before but I will infact be at Anime Expo 2003, unless something gravely comes up. So I guess I should pay attention to see if anyone else is going. As for the dance thing that's not as scary as the cosplay show, and last year's cosplay show was -____- ugh scary.

*Secretly registers Kevin to be in the cosplay show dressed up as Sailor Moon*.... ^_^;

I don't see myself going. I don't know ANYONE in California and I'd have to pay for it myself. Too much money! I have to pay for college, which is REALLY annoying. So yeah...

If I did go, though, I'm sure I'd find one of you guys to hang out with! ^_^

It'd be so nice to meet some of the people here from the boards; but sadly, I do not have the money, nor the time, most likely. Soon I plan on getting a job and other such things. It would be nice to go, but I can't.

I hope you have fun, Shy.

Hmm... Is Anahiem closer to LA?
If it is... it'll take me alot of A's to get my dad to drive me there. - .-;

I live right smack in the middle of San Francisco, sooo...

I thought it'd be near the Metreon though... u.u

I might be able to go. ^_^; The tickets are no problem, and I like dressing up. ^^

I would like to go, but I don't have any money...plus I doubt that my parents would let me travel all the way across the country to attend an anime convention. If I should even mention "anime" to them, the answer would be "no." Even if the convention were just a few blocks away from my house, they'd still say no. V_V

Anaheim is a lot closer to LA than San Francisco, a few thousand miles closer. But I am sure that there is a convention or two in Northern California during the year.

YAY! I finally got my confirmation! So I am now pre-registered paid.
Now all I need is someone to cozplay as... I was thinking maybe Mad Hatter/Blial from Angel Sanctuary, Chocolat from Sorcerer Hunters, or Yuna from FFX2... 3 very different types of costumes
