Semjaza
Don't worry, I'm not going to write 10 paragraphs :p I mostly just want to know if there are any Beck fans here. I guess that includes the people who listen to the radio, as I'm sure at least some of you heard the songs that went "two turn tables and a microphone" (Where It's At) or "I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me" (Loser). Anyway, this thread is mostly about his latest CD, Sea Change. It's not exactly new, but I recently bought it heh. It's incredibly good, depressing mellow rock music (apparently inspired by some romance of his ending)... A lot of the songs are rather simple, but they all work really well. I recommend everyone into that sort of stuff check it out. Two songs I recommend in general are Lost Cause and All in Your Mind. Here's a pic. There are four different covers for the CD... the one I got it quite different from this, but still uses the same photo of him. treton_noir
you forgot to mention "devil's haircut". that song rocks so hard. beck is rad-daddy. ive always liked his stuff. he's just so... massively appealing without sucking. does that even make sense? BabyGirl
I'd be interested in listening to his new album. I used to be a really big Beck fan, and I also used to be quite attracted to him. I love how his songs are sparatic and hard to understand, not to mention the music and beat are always great. I was actually considering going on a search for a new CD today, so maybe I'll give Beck a try. Thanks for mentioning it, I didn't even know a new album was out!
Semjaza
Yes... Devil's Haircut. I can't remember everything :p And yeah, definately makes sense to me. I remember hearing Loser on the radio so long ago, and until somewhat recently... I had no idea that was even Beck lol. Anyway, yes definately check it out Jenna. I uploaded the two songs I mentioned earlier, so everyone can try it out. Please don't use one of those download accelerators if you have one. The server is pretty fast, and it's not needed... plus I don't want my server to die lol. Deedlit
I haven't heard or remember a lot of Beck (besides Loser and The New Pollution), but I really like those MP3's. yet another CD I have to add to my wish list. >.>'
The Harlequin
I like a few of Beck's songs, mainly Loser, Devil's Haircut, Where It's At, and Nicotine And Gravvy, but other than that, Midnight Vultures put me off fairly severely. I'll check this out though.
Semjaza
I liked Midnite Vultures, but it was a mixed bag to keep it short. Sea Change is different in many different ways, and in my opinion is among his best work. It's really stripped down compared to his other releases. Glad to see some people are interested :)
The Harlequin
Even if not for the music...The pink pants on the cover were a little out of my league.... More to the point, when you say not exactly new, what time period does that mean? (Basically, has it passed the centuries long time span between being released in the rest of the world and coming to Australia?)
Semjaza
It's not really, really new... It came out in September of 2002. I'd guess you guys would have to have it by now, as I think he toured there already, but I'm not sure heh.
Mitch
Hm. I love how mellow the songs are. And how deep.
Lady Macaiodh
Beck is one of those artists that I didn't get heavily into, but that I greatly respect. He is a genius.
Semjaza
Just curious as to whether or not anyone interested wound up buying the CD or getting more songs... and their impressions. If not, well I guess this will just fall back down heh. No harm done.

I went to this fun store in Ventura that has a great selection of used CDs and forgot to look for his. But! As I was looking at the new [used] arrivals, there was a Pixies CD for $10 and I said to myself, "Well heck, Tony says they are great, so I will see if I agree." So I bought it ^_^ I have a lot of CDs that are on my "to get" list, but I always forget what's on it when I go to the store =\ I need to remember Beck next time.
Semjaza
I've made a habit of keeping a little paper... and writing down band names and CDs on it and stuffing it in my wallet. Every single time I go to the music store, I am overwhelmed by all the stuff there and completely forget what I would have wanted. This has saved me. And you can't imagine how happy I am to hear that you bought a Pixies CD. Far more than I ever should be, that's for sure lol. What CD was it?
