TheShinje
Here is a thread to get the heat off the war topic. Aliens! :D Are They | Real? Do you believe in UFO's, The unexplained? Do you think that aliens have come to earth before? Personally, i think they are fallen angels. What other alien stuff has got you thinking? What about the Rods? Have you ever encountered something woerd before? Do you think there is something out there that is not science fiction? I myself, had an unexplained experience. Not necessarily an alien. I was praying last night and looking skyward, when an unsusual throbbing started in the sky. It passed over my head (you couldn't see it, but could tell due to sound frequencies)and the direct moment it passed over me. My body warmed up, and cooled off again. I thought it might be a secret Military aircraft or something like a genetically modified bird we don't know exists yet. It was really freaky, and I Wanted to hear others opinions about UFO's, Aliens, and the Unexplained.
Manic Webb
I've never seen an alien, and I don't think there have been any on this planet lately. I do think there is life on other planets, but even if they're capable of long-range space travel, I doubt they're downing a few drinks at the bar in Area 51, talking about old times on Mars. The crop circles and cattle abductions? Yeah, right. I'm sure that if aliens really did try to sneak over farms to conduct experiments, they'd try just a little harder to not let their presence be known. I mean, if they could cloak themselves from standard radars, you'd think their ship wouldn't leave crop circles in every field they land in. Simply put, I don't believe any of the crazy conspiracies, but I think there might just be life out there somewhere. I don't think any aliens have visited Earth (although that would explain the whole pyramid thing).
Semjaza
If aliens exist, I don't know. I'd like to think they'd have better things to do than come here and turn cows inside out and abduct rednecks though. Otherwise, I think will all be pretty disappointed when they finally show themselves to everyone.
James
LOL -- I agree with Semjaza on that one. Do you notice that it's always rubes/hicks that get abducted? I sense that alcohol plays a part in that somewhere. o_O Anyway, I think it's possible that aliens exist. Of course, we may never know. Considering that we exist, I think it's pretty likely that there are many other species in the Universe (considering how big it is an' all lol). But who knows. There are people who will dismiss any idea of aliens...there are people who will say that they exist and visit earth...etc etc I don't think all these alien stories are true -- you know, the flying saucer and the abductions. I tend to put that in the same basket as palm reading and such. But the idea of aliens living far away that we've never encountered? I think it's possible.
Manic Webb
Personally, I blame all of the saucer-sightings and other hoo-ha on that corn-blasted "War of the Worlds" radio show. Nobody ever told the newspapers that they saw a weird flying object, or saw a strange circular pattern in their cornfield, until after that radio show aired.
Ahh.. yes the "Rods" phenomenon. Now you may thing these are some sort of flying alien, or even the latest in spy technology. But what if i told you they were nothing more than bugs? Well, i would be speaking nothing but truth. Here are some pictures of flying insects that were taken with a Canon ES9000 8mm camcorder forced to 1/60 second exposure. The amount of zoom used varies from about 10x up to the camera's full 20x, depending on the distance to the background trees. (This is because it was attempted to get a fairly dark background across the full frame, not because of the distance to the bugs). The trees range between 50 feet and 200 feet away, and the bugs ranged from about 2 feet away up to perhaps 20 feet or more. These pictures show remarkable similarity to the famous "Jose Escamilla's "rod" videos", Specifically, there is the distinctive correlation between the apparent "rod" size and the displacement from one frame to the next (which is always two "rod" lengths per frame when the exposure is 1/60 second), and there are several examples of the waving patterns that can be caused by blurred flapping wings, which makes "rods" appear to have multiple wings or long undulating fins along their sides, and there is an example of "paddle-like" wings below, just like those seen on some of Escamilla's images. These pictures were taken with a digital still camera, it was attempted to take a picture of some insects for a documentary, but it was immediately noticed the similarity between these pictures and Escamilla's "rods". Now, this one is even more convincing. Here is a photo of the suspect bugs, in which one has magicly metamophisised into a rod... simply by flying. Now, we have proved conclusively that "rods" are simply bugs filmed at slow shutter speeds. So, what we are left with is a claim that these mysterious animals fly too fast to be seen (which, by the above relationship, is only 41 MPH, 60 feet per second, for a foot-long "rod", i.e., about the same speed as many flying insects and slower than some), and they never land (which implies that either they sleep, eat, drink, and breed at those speeds or, unlike ordinary earthly animals, they don't need to do any of those things), and they never die, either naturally or by flying into something (or their bodies immediately disappear when they do). Yet the only evidence that they exist is completely indistinguishable from flying bug pictures!
Mitch
I'm all with James and Semjaza. I don't believe in all these abductions and things. It's just not what aliens would be doing if they were here. I've been interested in Aliens most of my life. It's just strange and interesting stuff. And I know that if we're here, somewhere else out there there's something, too.
Kei
I'm with Tama and Jamesy on this one. All too many times I've heard that somebody with two first names got abducted by aliens. Then the CIA came, and they don't remember anything after that. Oo; I do think that there can be other life out there in the universe, since we exist. Who knows? We won't be able to tell until we invent technology that allows long periods of space travel, or they come to us. Until then, eh....
Justin
I believe that some people who claim to have seen something genuinely have. However, I don't think they've seen what they think they've seen. As James does, I tend to put the alien thing in the same basket with palm reading and such; and I tend to just leave all that alone. -Justin
Change
I know for a fact that was have discovered several eath-like planates in our own galaxy...If these did give rise to a spacefaring people, I really doubt that they would come here for drinks...Might be nice though... Rhys Mayiessen
If there are things such as aliens I think they would look like humans and well are human. I mean why not? We haven't explored the whole universe yet there might be a world out there that is not so different from Earth!^^ Hehe it's an interesting thought.
Kevin
Personally, I believe that aliens do exsist. Quite the interesting concept of there being other life forms out there. Especially if they are more advanced then we as a human race. As for the unexplained, like supernatural forces, ghosts and similar things, I also believe that these exsist too. I am probably just a really paranoid kid, but I find these things very interesting. I am usually one to believe things that people say so that is probably why I believe the stuff.

Nevertheless, I still find Rods fascinating, the fact they travel at a fastewr speed than anything and why they are only visible way slowed down, as compared with other bugs which are visible on camera. I still want to capture a Rod on video, whether they are bugs or not. :D

The point i was making is that they travel about the same speed (sometimes even slower) than most bugs. The phenomena is people see a bug when looking through the lens of there camera, but when the look at the photo or video later it seems that the bug has metamorphosed into a rod. This is because the camera leans is in most cases real time, while the actual recording is only at 60 frames per second. That is why you always hear people saying "But when we played it back we noticed something...ect..." You know the phenomena of when you squint your eyes at a bright light, or it sometimes happens naturally, the light seems to extend into a large "light cross" (I hope you know what i mean, it happens with car headlights). Imagine how weird that would be if it was not an every day occurrence. Almost as weird as rods O_o, get my point?
DuoMax
Aliens,: probable, but they probably wouldn't want to come here. Other Supernatural; YES!
Tommy Vercetti
I admit i used to really believe in aliens when i was younger and kept thinking that there were aliens in my back garden. I then found out it was a really odd shaped tree that used to move about in the wind. It scared the hell out of me though. But now I am not really sure if I believe in them, i mean they have all these supernatural channels and programs with people claiming to have seen UFO's and aliens but unless i have actually seen one personally i won't really believe it. Lady Macaiodh
Hmmm. I used to be obsessed with sighting a UFO. I'd sit outside for hours waiting for one to appear. Jon used to tell me I was an idiot because he knew if one really did appear, I'd jump up & start waving. So he sat with me most of the time just in case, so he could knock me out really fast, throw me over his shoulder, & run into the house, lol. But these days, if I did see one, I'd be really freaked out, & if I saw an actual alien, I'd probably have a heart attack & die! So I'm kind of glad they haven't shown up yet.

LastSheikah
OH YEAH!!!!! This is the thread for me!!!!!! If I were to write about every one of my strange expiriences it would make a book as big as the dictionary!!! numero uno: I saw a ghost of a relative a month after she died. #2: I was outside climbing a tree when to the west I saw something zig-zagging through the sky. It looked like a orange disk. #3: There's more, but I can't remember the rest too well. Frankly, I might as well be an alien. :D Yes I know I'm weird. Transtic Nerve
One of my HS friends, who was what you would typically call a nerd (he scored like 1500 on his SATs) and he wore glasses and played in band and anyway.... he was a good friend since 7th grade who always told me the truth, usually he just told me things I already knew, or correctly the school texts books on their misspellings and crap... anyway... he came in one day and told me the weirdest story... he was in his room at night, and I guess he shared one with his brother... anyway, they were going to bed when a purple light filled the room with a really loud humming noise... his mum was there as well... it was that way for like 30 seconds he said... and then it went away... it really kinda freaked me out because I wouldn't take him as a person who would joke or make that up or lie about it... Who knows... I persnally never have had an experience like that and don't really wish to.... so I couldn't tell you I do however believe this universe is far too big and far to unexplored to assume there is no life somewhere else. Cornucopia
It seems to be human nature to want to believe in something else ?out there?. Unfortunately, it?s also human nature for people to exploit others? willingness to believe ? hence the ?footage? of the Loch Ness monster, Big Foot and all the UFO/alien hoaxes. Of course, this creates a 'Boy who cried wolf' situation, whereby if/when real 'evidence' is found, it'll probably be buried under an avalanche of skepticism. Personally, I?m with Transtic Nerve in believing the universe is too big for us to assume there?s no life anywhere else. As for aliens visiting us, though ? I can just picture this Simpsons-esque scenario: Inside their spaceship (hovering in space with Earth in view), Kang and Kodos are watching George W Bush on a monitor. Kang: They?ve chosen this guy to be leader of the free world? Kodos: Agh! Run away, run away! (OK, so that last bit was more Monty Python than The Simpsons)
Omar Harris
I've always wondered why Sci-Fi writers made Earth so incredibly important to alien races. Unless there is proof that we exist in an "integral location" or have something vital, I don't think that, if aliens existed, they'd have a particular interest in us, especially when there technology is so advanced as to allow space travel. I do believe aliens exist. It seems too naive to believe that we are the only beings ihabiting this universe, which to my understanding, is not only so extremely large that there are countless planets we know nothing of, but is constantly expanding in the process. The supernatural is another issue. I would like to think that there were a such thing as supernatural beings and forces, but then again, that would be horrific to experience and would take all the fun out of guessing this stuff lol
Ryo the Tamer
Explanation why aliens come down and do random things(explained by the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy): "Teasers", rich kids(alien kids) with nothing to do, go to some planet no one has made interstellar contact with and "buzz" them, they find a person that no one will ever believe, then beam down infront of them and make, "Beep Beep" noises. Sure there are aliens. Why would there be so much space for just a little blue green planet filled with ape like creatures that are so primitive we still think digital watches are a neat idea. Unexplained? You mean like Stonehedge? Stuff like that? Can't think of anything about that, right now.
