Jinzouningen17
Okay, this may sound a bit stupid comin from a mod, but I need to know, when was Dragonball Z: Ultimate Battle 22 announced to come here to the states? I just found out that it was just released(or has been released)on the PSOne console by watchin WWE Raw a few minutes ago. So how long ago was this announced? Am I just behind or what?
Yeah, Ultimate Battle 22 is said to be the second best DB PSX game to ever come out in Japan(the other ones are "The Great Dragonball Legend" and "Final Bout"). "Final Bout" is the only DB game for PSX that was released here in the states(which was back in like 1996, and not many of us have the dubbed one. I'm one of the few that does have it), and now "Ultimate Battle 22" is about to be released. This is the only DB game for PSX that I dont have...atleast until tomorrow because I know for a FACT that I'mma khop this game. Then I'll have the whole DB collection for PSX(I got "The Great Dragonball Legend", but its in Japanese, plus I can only play it on my comp....but still, I have it. ^_^) Man, I cant wait to get a copy of this game to add to my collection. :D
Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
-____- I too actually saw this commerical during raw, Ultimate Battle 22 came out around 1993 or so, that's rather old and well the gameplay isn't that great for it. I'm rather suprised that they just now are importing this to america they must be desperate to capitalize on the success of Budokai.
Manic Webb
Words cannot express how happy I am about this. Ultimate Battle 22 is my favorite Dragonball videogame... ever. I love the amount of characters in it, and exactly which characters were put in it. I haven't played Budokai yet (which I hear has just as many characters), so I'll just have to settle for a cheaper, older alternative. Oh, and U.B. 22 had better be selling for cheap when it comes out tomorrow.

conpiracymonki
March 25th 2003?! Woah.. What's funny is.. I saw that in HMV in town about a month ago, down here in Manchester. :p I guess this silly little city does have a few plusses.. (a real early Battle 22 release for one) And United.. *cough cough* EDIT: It's 27 after you complete it/whatever you do. My friends have burned versions of the game from a lifetime ago.. lol
Transtic Nerve
I have the original Ultimate Battle 22 (28 if you do the code, or some number like that)... and a burned copy of the game. There's really not that much different. You can play the Japanese one. It's already 80% english. However, you can't play it on American consols... I dunno why it took them forever to get it here. they probably had to wait on the rights for American release.
Kent
I saw the commercial on cn actually... or maybe somewhere else, but I saw it. I also happend to have bought it, and although it had just about every charactor from chibi gokou to ss3 gotenks, it was still only ok for the price... That said, I want to mention that it was solely an import at the time and was over 60 dollars. That price will go down considerably. I returned mine and got a full refund, but with the game coming out again... if it is playable on an american console this time... I just might have to try it out again and see what it holds instore for the hardend db fool such as myself. Hope you guys enjoy it, but remember that it is a game based around old ps one tech and its not a graphical wonder... however, it is an awesome game charactor wise. I would rather have this game to play with an american ps than the new 3d fighter bodikai or whatever the name is.
JCBaggee
A DBZ game on a console I own?! It's about friggin' time! Anyone see a price tag for it? --Chris
TheShinje
I have a burned copy of DB legend, Ultimate battle 22/28 and Final bout on one CD. In japanese. I personally think DB legend is more true to the Draginball series, which is the one I play the most Ultimate Battle 22 seems like a street fighter clone. But it's still good in a way. And GT Final Bout? uh, bad attempt at 3d version "tekken clone", i don't know much about DBZ bodukai for pas2, but that looks quite good too. JCBaggee
You'd have to get a Mod Chip for your PS1, thought I'm not sure how to go about that (I'm not even entirely sure it's legal!). Anyhoo, getting back to matters at hand, the ad aired during Adult Swim the other night. The graphics looked decent, but it was fairly obvious that it was an older game. On the upside, I don't think that much will have changed from the original, and with PS1 games at the prices they are now, it should only run $15-$20 at some stores. I'm off to find it! --Chris
Guest Musahi
I imported Ultimate Battle 22 and Legends a long time ago. And I have played GT Final Bout. Ultimate Battle 22 is the worst of the three. The controls are jumpy, the sound is repetetive, and it's downright boring. Final Bout is almost as bad, the 3D graphics and cool battle scenes puch it just over UB22. Legends is great. This is one of my favorite PSX games overall. The graphics are weird (they look like the tiny action figures that are completly plastic), the game is incredibly fun and inventive. I'll edit later, I have to go. PSX wasn't even availible on open market in '93. I'll get the game, sheerly because it has Vegetto on it. At least that's what I heard. And the same from Brolli. PS: It shouldn't be more than 15 bucks. If it is, look elsewhere for it. You're getting ripped off.
Transtic Nerve
Originally posted by The Bouncer I know im off topic but how do you play burnt PSone games
It's illegal so we can't tell you specifics, but you need certain burning software. And then you need a modchip to play them, which are also now illegal in the US. You need a modchip to play Japanese games as well. If you absolutely need a modchip, I suggest doing a search oon yahoo, you WILL find places.

SephirothNIN
So the game's coming out eh? I've been seeing commercials for UB 22 for a while (since they started I'd assume) and it's been driving me nuts, heh at first I thought I had imagined it or something but then my friend said he had too. Personally I'm super mad at gamespot for giving it such a crappy score (1.2 or something), because I've played UB 22 a lot at my friend's and it's just as good as the snes fighting games, super butoden or whatever (not hyper dimension). Also DBZ Legends (my fav) has the most characters in it, 33 I think after you unlock them all by playing through the story mode correctly. I had Final Bout and Legends, but somehow my legends got lost, grrrr I bet it's still in my room somewhere ><. Oh also you don't NEED a mod chip, I use a pro action replay (japanese gameshark) and it lets you get by burnt/japanese games if you use a legal game and a spring. Even though Legends only uses like...4 buttons, attack, boost, block, and energy, it's fun as hell. I could play through the story mode a bajillion times in a row...if I still had it anyway, fooey! IF UB22 is under $25 I might get it tho, something to play when I'm done w/ Xenosaga

Actually, you can play Japanese Imports on American Consols..the mod chip and there is a PS Excange disc..you insert the disc and turn on the playstation. Then follow the instructions. I like the Japanese Import eddition, i've played it using the exchange disc, it's awesome. But, the only thing is you smear the combos for like the Kamehameha and Destructo disc, so after a while you wish your figer is numb so it will stop hurting (actually numbed my finger to make it easier to play the game.... But, they should put in more of the Buu saga characters, like Pui Pui, Yakon, Vegitto, and Kidd boo. And, instead of Supreme Kai, make it Kibito-Kai. He looks awesome:cool:
Schrat
I've had the game for years, its not bad. It gets old very quickly, since its so easy to beat the game, took me about 15 minutes, and that was about 3 years ago...

I believe it is common knowledge you need modchips, however assuming the majority of people don't have one and the fact they are illegal, I didn't bother saying "you can play it on American consols, however you need this and that and that and this.".... I have the game, a burned copy and the original Japanese one... My point was that they had to make it playable NORMALLY and LEGALLY on an American consol. Guest Imsirion
I found it at Wal Mart for $20. It does remind me of the Butoden games and its pretty fun. Pulling off combos is kinda easy and the ki blasts are nothing spectacular, but its fun none-the-less. Oh, and I love the build up mode. Now, I must DESTROY by cocky, button-mashing friend....
