Anime Nudity in Anime ???

Yeah, the way they have them is so overated, but i don't mind,to tell the truth. It does give anime a little life to it. But they over do it sometimes and i can get anoying. They just don't understand anime like we do so they make it look bad so thy wont allow us to watch anime cause of what parents believe. So i do and don't mind anime nudity.

Y'know, I have a problem with Hentai, but other than that, it would seem as if it were just the same as a regular film. Nudity is in fact important to us as human beings, but if we were to show this to a younger audience, then heck no it wouldn't be...

...I always believed that it is very true that American cartoons do not carry nudity as much as Japanese. The Japanese mind is far different from that of an American. I mean, have you ever seen the translated versions of DVDs, and VHS from the Japanese to English? If the Japanese cursed, then the American version would be way less cursed.

Yu Yu is a very nice example. Have you seen the uncut episodes, and have you seen the American TV versions!? VERY DIFFERENT!!

There are several reasons for the cuts, and the edits, but no matter Anime is Anime. I, of course, NEVER was a fan of hentai, but I love the stories of any regular Anime title. NEVER ANY HENTAI... ...then again, that's just me...

TO EACH HIS OWN... ...and I will always repect the opinions of others.

But as others have posted, sometimes, there are reasons for the nudity, and then again, you have to understand the mind of a Japanese person to understand why they in fact like it, sometimes to an extreme... ...they carry a wide selection of rape videos, and other very disgusting genres, but then again, we all have our styles. Again, the mind of people is always different.

Sure, there's fan service, which is a wee bit more gratoitous (SP), but that's usually limited in most anime. As long as it's tasteful, I don't really mind it.[/color][/size][/font]

I think this thread is done. I have read every post, and it's all pretty much the same thing. Nudity in Anime/Manga isn't offensive unless it's overdone or in Hentai. There. That is the thread. It's pretty friggin' irritating to read the same thing over and over again already.

I, myself, don't have a problem with nudity in anime, unless it's REALLLL graphic like... pubic hair and stuff (the things you see in an anime movie like Perfect Blue).

It's all right with me. But it is uncomfterble to watch anime and have your faimly member walk in and start thinking wrong. My family always tell me to grow up, to stop watching cartoon, anime(I hate it)and when they see me seeing it they start to talk and then my tio wants to watch it then my tia gets mad at him for watching it and then tells me not to bring none of that stuff home (to grow up and get a job) or she'll give me a wopping and She says it rolling her eyes and everything even my younger sister tell my to watch sometheing else and she's 14. Come on there is nothing watching greatly coreygrapht senes with great pic and color, it feeds the creativity.
Its okk to have but not if your going to glot about 'Sex' in it and miss use it. Like some one i know *cough* my damma brother.

well as i know some of the first animes where created to compite ith the american cartoons, but te anime had developed so much and it change it meaning and the nudity in it is to give a realistic way of the things, the americans take it in a wrong way and they though of it as porn, Japanese ppl don't see that nudity part as porn, for porn they make Hentai.

[COLOR="#004a6f"]Personally, that is the one main thing that bugs me about some animés. It's not too bad if they're not focusing on the sexual aspect of the nudity. However, I think nudity is popular because of Japanese culture itself. For instance, Japanese enjoy sitting in hot springs, naked ofcourse, but only with people of the same sex. So I wouldn't really mind it nudity in that situation or anything that has to do with bathing as long as they don't get too graphic.[/COLOR]

From what I have read, and I will not express my own opinion on the matter, is that the Japanese culture views sex as neither sacred nor profane. Sex is sex and thats all there is to it. The Western mind views sexuality and nudity as something shameful and perhaps even wrong, while the Japanese don't. I am not supporting nudism, pornography, or any eroticism that is misplaced, however sexuality is part of humanity, and as Anime/Manga attempts to express a view of humanity (well, the better ones do..) it has a place in it. When immaturity or childish-ness enters the equation it becomes quite distasteful, like Chris from family guy. I don't think it should be dweeled upon or a story centering only around sex and nudity, but there is no problem in my mind in depicting life as it happens (there really are magic girls! I saw one! she shot fire at me!! lol...)

Im not bothered at all by the nudity in anime it has about the same amount as some live action films and tv shows.

Me myself I don't care about nude animes because I'm mostly their for the fight in the movie or plot. It all different type of nude their verbal nudity like FLCL then their not really need like hentai but in you taste just make sure it's not hurting anyone

Here's where the cultures may clash. Nudity... Here in America we're barely shown any nudity and it's much more of a no no to go about exposing it. I'm sure it's been said time and time again, but I don't think it's that it has to be in anime or it doesn't. It's simply the fact that Japan as a culture is more open to nudity and sexuality than the U.S. That's got to be obvious. That even goes the same for Europe. We're just more conservative about that in many aspects where in others we're not. Ironically enough, legal Japanese porn (and I could be wrong) censors the genitilia where as here in the States, they don't.

You really start to think alot about things once you look into other cultures besides your own. You figure out that things are not wrong as they may seem. It's art not porn. There's even an ongoing debate about what's art and what's not. That's simple. It's what the media is intended for. Then again, it may not be as simple as that. It's up to the beholder but not everyone will agree. That's simply the case when it comes to nudity in general. You add sex to the mix and you're opening up another can of worms, but that topic is for another day.

Overall, I'm fine with nudity in anime or anything in general if it's not overboard and meaning to be pornographic. There's such a thing called innocent nudity that doesn't bother me whatsoever. Why should it bother me? It's how we've been taught to be honest.
