hey don't know if this has been done but oh well,

i bought tony hawk pro skater 4,and i was wondering how everyone thought it stacked up compared to it's pedacesors(sp).I thought it was ok,it wasn't as good as 3 in my opinion though due to lack of.... i don't know,i just like 3's areas more, they seemed more...fun.

I had the first tony hawk game, after that i just lost interest. In my opinon the first was the best, it was the original idea, not just some clone game with a new feature or two.

Even today i still play it, but i have never really played the others.

The 4th tony hawk game is ok for the series, I do think it is better than 3 but .....

I guess I just really hate the physics engine for the game. I hate the fact that I can beef up a character so much that he can wall ride up a 15 or more foot wall. It is stuff like that that really turns me away from the Tony Hawk series.

I like 4 a lot better than the other games. I like it how you can skate around the area and talk to people for challenges. I also love the mini games. They both add extra stuff to do, and reality to the game. I hated having a time limit to explore the level and how all the objectives are listed and you can't unlock new ones.

Tony Hawks 4 is Ok but seeing I haven't really played any of the other ones. Tony Hawks 4 seems an average game to me but like most sports games I play, I lose interest very quickly unless they are football games which are good in multiplayer. I think the goals on Tony Hawks 4 are slighlty repetitive what with gaining a certain trick score in time limits etc.

I didn't like Tony Hawk 4 as much as I thought I would.

Aggressive Inline was a much better game in my opinion. It did almost everything Hawk 4 did, months before it released. And, it even included the ability to recover from bails in midair, which Hawk 4 promised, but never delivered.

Plus, it did a much better job creating open-ended platformer style level designs. The worlds in THPS4 were good, but they didn't seem as creative as I had hoped. Everyone kept on hyping how expansive they were--but they didn't come across as particularly interesting or memorable.

Overall, THPS4 was okay. It saw some interesting tweaks in the series. They just weren't implemented as well as I had hoped they would be.

In the end, Activision really needs to take a break and lengthen the development cycle of the Tony Hawk series. That's the only way we'll see the series take the evolutionary step is so desperately needs.

Hmm, well, I think that the Tony Hawk series gets better with every game. The fourth game has been my favorite from the series thus far, and I own all of the other games. There is a ton of originality brought into the franchise; more than any of it's predecessors. I've never exactly played Agressive Inline, but even so, you can get pretty different when comparing inline with skateboarding.

The old Tony Hawk games were so easy, that I just had to laugh. On the third installment, after I got the hang of it, I could beat one of the characters files in a day -- all of the goals, decks, and stat points. I eventually beat the entire game with nothing else to do, and you couldn't even retry the goals. Tony Hawk's 4, on the other hand, offerred a game where there was no time limit and you could play as long as you wanted to without restarting. There were more and tougher goals, money to collect, and you could restart the goals whenever you wanted. Plus, instead of having a level devoted to a competition, you can have one in any level in the game. Each character had a specific challenge devoted to themselves as well, so you didn't feel like you were repeating everything again. The challenges were very hard, but lots of fun.

The levels were massive, the graphics were better, there was more stuff to do, and untimately, it was harder, which I like. Better than all of the previous? Yes.

yes the levels were bigger but they weren't,as charles said, memerable.they lacked something that set off all the others.i loved tokyo in THPS3 it was pretty and fun,but there are no cool places in THPS4 sept maybe chicago.
That's just a matter of opinion. ;) Each of the levels in Tony Hawk's 4 were done extremely well, with a lot of detail in them, and usually when saying that you thought the previous ones were better, it just shows a sort of resentment to open yourself up to the Tony Hawk feel after so many games. I personally didn't find the '3' levels anywhere near as original as '4', but again, that's just opinion.

Tony 4 is a great improvement from all of the other ones. I love the idea that there's no limit for you exploring the places. This is one of the hardest games of its kind. The hardest for me personally, was escape from Alcatraz. other than that, the game is amazing.
