Guest Psionic Shadow
This is the place for all to talk about America's funniest show (in my opinion) - Married... with Children! Come to talk about Al, Peggy, Bud, Kelly and all around them!

Transtic Nerve
Your sig needs to be a MAX of 500 pixels wide and 100 pixel high... nothing more... it is grounds for banning if it is not changed.
L.A. Rod.
It was a pretty long running show, too. One of the longest running... and it wasn't even one of those full house, tacky music shows that had resolutions at the end. I love Married with Children! SaiyanPrincessX
My dad would occationaly watch, and I'd watch it too. I was young but it still made me laugh. I used to think it was called Married the Children. Lol!

vegeta rocker
that show ruled. i remember when they continued it on Fox for awhile, they even lengthened out the song. hahahahah man poor AL. like when buck died and heavens judge was a cat! and then he came back as lucky. I missed steve though. jefferson was funny but nobody can replace steve. Even though he came out in a few afterwards. Like when they were pirates or when they were at the car wash. Manic Webb
I think Married With Children was FOX's longest running show, until it was cancelled. Now it's The Simpsons. I loved that show. It was sad when they cancelled the show. FOX was supposed to run "series finale" commercials at the end of the season, but the show was going to secretly come back for another season the next year! FOX changed their minds, and the show was cancelled for real. The cast didn't know the show was cancelled for real until later. I remember the episode of Futurama where Leela met a male cyclopse named Al. By the end of the episode, Leela was dressed up like Peg, and Al was starting to look strangely like Al Bundy. The funniest part is that Kathy Sagal, who played Peg on Married With Children, is the voice of Leela.
Semjaza
The cancelation was actually really sad I thought. Like you said, they didn't know. The Weenie Tots episode wasn't supposed to be the last. I remember reading that Christina Applegate first heard from a friend who heard it on the radio. Nice way to treat what was basically their flagship show since the network's inception. Queen Asuka
Am I the only one who didn't particularly like this show? I thought it was sort of stupid, myself. I mean, it was grungy looking and it was the same thing over and over again. I only watched it because it was what was always on. My parents really liked it, though. So yeah, whatever floats your boat.

Married With Children and Roseanne began the revolution of family sitcoms that were "less than Brady Bunch." Before MWC, TV families were aggressively cheerful and there was always a lesson in the end. MWC showed that your family may not be all happy and peachy, like the Cleavers. MWC was more realistic than some other shows. The bread-winning father might have a low-pay job, like selling shoes. The house-wife might just sit around and watch Oprah all day. The daughter might be a slut. The son might be a loser. The family dog might just hate all of you. It was ridiculously stupid, but it was TV history. With Married With Children, there was no American Myth to shoot for. It was an exaggerrated look into a dysfunctional family, which you just didn't see on TV much before the 1980s. Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
Great show, which illustrates the typical everyday family disfunctions that go on in the United States. Great slap stick comedy, with some very interesting views on life. It's a shame they got cancelled without really having a final episode, perhaps one day there will be a reunion episode, or movie.
That was exactly why I liked it. In my house, it was utterly forbidden to watch it, so of course I had to. Everyone I knew thought it was the show of the devil. Fox did a reunion episode recently. It was pretty good but made me want to watch an actual episode. It still comes on FX, but I forget when. My friend Tabitha & I used to think Bud was hot. We always felt sorry for him that he got dissed so much & said one day we'd go on the show so he could finally get a date. Looking back, I wonder what the hell we were thinking, lol.

I'm sorry, but things like that don't just happen in the United States. There are dysfunctional families all over the world. It just so happened that that one particular family lived in the US. And the typical dysfunctional family does not always have to be that way. I don't think there really IS a typical dysfunctional family. Each family is different. That's just my opinion, though.

Most families at least here in New York and other urbran areas act similar to the Bundies but since you live in the south you probably don't encounter people like that. If my comments offended you in anyway I'm sorry but that's the harsh reality of life most of the USA is dysfunctional. Back on topic, did anyone see that pathetic reunion show they had that aired after the Simpsons 300th episode?
Queen Asuka
*Laughs* You didn't offend me Kevin, I was just making a good point. ^_^ Anywho, here in the South, we have plenty of families like the Bundies. Mine is not one of them. The culture may be slightly different, but trust me, the same stereotype can be found anywhere. Of course, when I think of dysfunctional families, I always think of the man getting drunk and beating his wife. I have witnessed it, and it's not pretty at all.
