I missed steve though. jefferson was funny but nobody can replace steve. Even though he came out in a few afterwards. Like when they were pirates or when they were at the car wash. Manic Webb Posted April 1, 2003 Share Posted April 1, 2003 I think [i]Married With Children[/i] was FOX's longest running show, until it was cancelled. Now it's [i]The Simpsons[/i]. I loved that show. It was sad when they cancelled the show. FOX was supposed to run "series finale" commercials at the end of the season, but the show was going to secretly come back for another season the next year! FOX changed their minds, and the show was cancelled for real. The cast didn't know the show was cancelled for real until later. I remember the episode of [i]Futurama[/i] where Leela met a male cyclopse named Al. By the end of the episode, Leela was dressed up like Peg, and Al was starting to look strangely like Al Bundy. I remember reading that Christina Applegate first heard from a friend who heard it on the radio. Nice way to treat what was basically their flagship show since the network's inception. [i]Married With Children[/i] and [i]Roseanne[/i] began the revolution of family sitcoms that were "less than Brady Bunch." Before MWC, TV families were aggressively cheerful and there was always a lesson in the end. MWC showed that your family may not be all happy and peachy, like the Cleavers. MWC was more realistic than some other shows. The bread-winning father might have a low-pay job, like selling shoes. The house-wife might just sit around and watch [i]Oprah[/i] all day. The daughter might be a slut. The son might be a loser. The family dog might just hate all of you. It was ridiculously stupid, but it was TV history. With [i]Married With Children[/i], there was no American Myth to shoot for. It was an exaggerrated look into a dysfunctional family, which you just didn't see on TV much before the 1980s. Great slap stick comedy, with some very interesting views on life. It's a shame they got cancelled without really having a final episode, perhaps one day there will be a reunion episode, or movie. Everyone I knew thought it was the show of the devil. :rolleyes: Fox did a reunion episode recently. It was pretty good but made me want to watch an actual episode. It still comes on FX, but I forget when. My friend Tabitha & I used to think Bud was hot. We always felt sorry for him that he got dissed so much & said one day we'd go on the show so he could finally get a date. Most families at least here in New York and other urbran areas act similar to the Bundies but since you live in the south you probably don't encounter people like that. If my comments offended you in anyway I'm sorry but that's the harsh reality of life most of the USA is dysfunctional. Mine is not one of them. The culture may be slightly different, but trust me, the same stereotype can be found anywhere. Of course, when I think of dysfunctional families, I always think of the man getting drunk and beating his wife.
