Raiha
Genitian snorted himself and changed his pace slightly to the Spanish walk. His tail plummed and he shifted his shoulders underneath Lethe's legs. She smiled and merely losened her grip on his jaw rope. Rali: What is it? Lethe: You claim that dead things are in vogue? When it's obvious that everything around us is so alive? Rali: Perhaps they're simply attracted to me. Lethe: I can understand that. Rali: And no vampyre has bothered you? Lethe: ....welll........there was a damyere once, but she didn't last ten seconds. I doubt the poor girl got more than half a mouthful. Rali: And she caught you off guard? Lethe: I was asleep. And it was after I had been fighting at the Crescent Arena for several weeks.....in a double Bayver fight. Rali: ...I've heard of that. Are they all two hour matches? Lethe: Yes. Weighted clothing, no referee, the whole nine yards. She smiled at him, lazy and uncarring. He gave her a calm glance, that quickly shatterd when she turned her own silver eyes upon him and let them shift into the full Itsari form. Catlike, searing and as cold as midwinter ice. Her mouth opened, and her tongue was ridged like a feline's.....then she stopped, and everything went back to normal. Lethe: ....dead things really do chase me. I just hate to admit it.
The Harlequin
Rali: From what I've seen, they don't have much trouble catching you. Lethe: You didn't try to kill me on sight, did you? Rali: Well, actually yes, but my telepathic murdering ability is somewhat lacking these days... Lethe looked at him in almost bewilderment for a moment. Lythanoids were never exactly known for their sense of humour. When she finally worked out that it was, indeed, a joke, she gave a slight laugh, still looking at him in confusion. Rali was somewhat more amused. Unfortunately, it wasn't his joke that was amusing him. He spoke cheerfully nonetheless. Rali: I once won a bar brawl with a Capoblean though. Lethe looked at him suspiciously, fairly certain he was being absurd. Lethe: Aren't those creatures basically the strongest thing on the planet pound for pound? Rali: Yes. He blithe answer was all she got. They continued along for a good minute before she at last gave in. Lethe: Alright, how'd you do it? Rali: Waited for it to grab me, then poked it in the eye... He held up his taloned fingers, stabbing the air for demonstration. Lethe: You sad, sad being. Rali: Fun though.
Raiha
Lethe: ...the last thing exciting I did was lick a vampyre's face.....and rip out his heart at the same time. Then Genitian trampled him into the ground. The last sentence was delivered with a cheerful giggle and a kittenish movement of her head. The named beast whickered and pranced lightly. Rali: And you think I'm sad? Lethe: Well, the lick ripped the skin on his face....if I had actually touched my lips to his face, he would've frozen over. Rali: I'm assuming you specialize in cold sleep then. As your father was....the Blue Mage. Lethe: Yes. But how did you know that? Rali: A hunch. Lethe: Oh you pathetic liar. Rali: Eheh. She smiled at him and shook a finger in his face. He snorted and batted her hand out of the way. She reacted with lightning speed, driving three of her fingers into his neck and flashing out the leafblade with the other. He smiled back and pushed her hands to one side. She complied and made no further attack...
The Harlequin
Rali: Now you know that was a stupid thing to do? Lifé: It proved a point didn't it? Rali: Yeah, that you are quite capable of doing things that you really know better than to try. Lifé: Makes things more interesting, doesn't it? Rali: Perhaps. Lifé: So how did you know anyway? Rali: Won a few drinking games... Lifé: Now since when did the Elcrinth Way have so much as one bar? Rali: The Deurgar of course. They're bloody dwarves, of course they'll need a bar. Lifé: That would explain why I didn't run into them then. Rali: You have some problem with the deep dwarves? Lifé: The exact same things that make you get on with them well. Rali: Let's see..Incessant drinking, swearing, brawling, stupid acts of apparent courage, a very low intelligence level generally, the almost non existant ability to string three words together coherently, the stupid clan rivalries... Lifé: There's a start.
Raiha
Lifé: But one must also take into consideration their insane height....puts them at a perfect level to stare right at my lower levels...tweak my tail, finger my behind, and so on and so forth. Rali: I must say I never had that problem. Lifé: Well you're not a female. Rali: Since when were the Itsari feline? Lifé: ....they aren't. I made a mistake when I was 500......involving a panther, a snake, and a full moon. Rali: Sounds fun. Lifé: I couldn't walk straight for a month afterwards. The tail kept on throwing me off. Rali: Where is it now? Lifé: .....Where do you think? He opened his mouth, then caught her venemous glare, and shut it again. She purred and made a soft clawed hand. Lifé smiled to herself and Genitian's muscles twitched underneath her legs. He was getting restless. Without a single word of warning to Rali, she dug her knees in and clung as close as a tick. He shot off into the sunset, steam rising from his hide.
The Harlequin
Rali, of course, had no intention of putting effort into catching the pair, though he probably could have it the situation had truly demanded it. Instead, he took a long look at the trail in front of them. Interestingly enough, but not surprising, considering the mountainous territory they were travelling through, it doubled back, mostly likely lead to a pass or ravine higher up the mountain. The next level about 20 metres above Rali's head. It was also a sheer face. One would think that climbing it would be impossible. One normally didn't have wings though... Or taloned fingers and claws. Rali scaled the face in under a minute, his tall frame, along with the other aforementioned advantages, making it easy to ascend quickly. The top wasn't too much different from what he had just left, making him wonder just how varied this surface world really was. He found what looked to be a fairly comfortable niche in the rocks beside the trail and sat down to wait. Lifé appeared a few minutes later. She glared at him, slowed, and without a word, walked over to the precipice and looked down. When she looked back at the lythanoid, he was absently brushing dirt off one of his talons. He responded with an inquiring glance. Rali: Was there something? Strangely enough, he didn't get a reply. He did get a more sedate pace though.
Raiha
Lifé smiled to herself. Genitian looked smug as well, but refused to say anything...... His energy would come in handy much later on. For now, he might as well pretend to be somewhat normal. He snorted, not breathing too hard....after all.... Genitian was a draft horse. Lifé dismounted lightly and took off the jaw rope. He immediately burried his nose in the handful of grass she procured from nowhere. Rali: Nice trick. Lifé: His needs far outweigh mine. Rali: You can't fly....even though you're a mage? Lifé: Levitation is draining. Why waste energy?
The Harlequin
OOC: Are we all that's keeping this rpg alive? Not that I'm complaining, understand. IC:Rali: For me, it's more, why waste time? Lifé: Typical. Rali: Yeah, you would think that. Keeping in mind of course, the rest of us don't like quite as long as you. Lifé: You have at least a millenia left. Rali shrugged. Rali: So take that line of argument away from me. I don't care if I'm impatient. Lifé: And I refuse to expend energy on futile acts. Rali: Then we're both uncomprimising bastards. What are you going to do. Lifé: Have a very strange journey. Rali: It was rhetorical, but you're probably right.
Raiha
Lifé: And somewhere down the line, we will probably have hot passionate sex just for the hell of it. The lythanoid stopped short. There was no apparent sarcasm to her tone. Then he looked at her face. She was struggling to supress a serious fit of the giggles... Rali: I'm so glad you weren't meaning anything by that statement. Lifé: What if I was? Rali: .....This will be a great trip. Lifé: Don't hold your breath. She sat down crosslegged next to Genitian's stomach and relaxed. With a quick flip of the silver pins in her hair, she released her brown tresses. They fell down to her waist...and she took the oppertunity to rebraid them. Rali watched quietly. Shot through with silver lines, her hair was probably one of her better features.....but still. The silver made her appear wiser than she was...perhaps. Lifé: Am I that fascinating? Rali: How old are you again? Lifé: Sometimes I feel as old as Ochkik Haddah....but he's a distant relative. So perhaps I'm not that old.
The Harlequin
Rali: Ah well. They tell me older women have a lot to teach... Lifé: I imagine you'd be an enthusiatic pupil. Rali: Oh, you'd learn as much as I would. Lifé made a slight sound, most likely in amusement. Rali shrugged, and smiled slightly. He had a feeling this kind of thing would probably come up a lot. Mind you, he wasn't complaining especially much, more just wondering exactly how he'd deal with it later down the track. Rali: Ah well. Either that, or we'll end up killing each other. Lifé: Is there some restriction on doing both?
Raiha
Genitian rolled his huge blue eyes and settle down for sleep. Their destination was near enough to afford this luxury of sleep. Instead of reacting to Rali's intriguing statement, Lifé calmly rolled her eyes as well and laid back on his broad shoulders. Rali smiled and sat down quietly. Lifé's lashes quickly closed down on her mind and she smiled to herself. This was going far better than planned. Not only was she prepared to do as she had been commanded, things were falling right into her hands.
The Harlequin
Rali leant back, wings folding around his body protectively. A wall of privacy, more than anything else. What exactly he needed privacy before was probably the subject of speculation, until a slight snore emanated. Apparently he just hated people watching him when he slept then... Lifé gave a slight laugh and fell into her own deep sleep. Rali waited until he was certain she was asleep and stood up, stretching. He took a long look at her, and smiled strangely. He turned to leave, paused a moment, and came back, laughing at some private joke. He again curled up, this time a bit closer to Lifé than before.
Raiha
Her lashes parted to see him, much closer than before. From the breathing all around her, both lythanoid and shire were fast asleep. She rose to her feet, garments sliding off her body like oil on ice. Completely naked, and at peace with it all, she stepped out onto the open field and raised her hands to Hecate. The moon hid behind the couds, and the only sounds for a long time where the wind devils, whispering through the leaves of the trees. She sighed and raised her hands once more. Hecate smiled and released the grip on the earth beneath Lifé's feet. The Promethean flower rose up, and bloomed like a drop of blood. Lifé reached out and cut it from the land with her nails. A soft groan echoed from the ground and she quickly put the flower into her mouth. She swallowed, and the power of the land disapeared into her system. Then she padded back to the camp and sat down next to her beast and the companion she had found. The flower would go back to the land eventually. But for now, it was best to keep it close by. Very close by. One could never be too careful with lythanoids around. Even the majorly attractive ones.
The Harlequin
Rali awoke sometime during the night, for no apparent reason. Everything was as it was when he had fallen asleep, and there was no sign of any outside influence, no other creatures prowling around. Very, very few creatures on the surface could match his nightvision, and his ability to see in infrared spectrum left no doubt that there were only nine physical entites within sight, and all but two of them looked to be very small animals of some sort. He ignored them and attempted to lapse back into somnolence. Something snuffled quite close to him, and he sighed, unfurling his wings again and looking at it. It was a small creature, strange looking, and apparently hairy. It nudged him a bit, he pushed it away. It latched onto his arm with amazing ferocity. He let out a startled yelp and flung it over the precipice, where it hit the path below with a startled grunt, and apparently walked away. Rali looked in surprise at his arm, which was incandescent white with the heat of his inferno blood in the infrared spectrum, causing him to revert back to normal vision. Lifé: Welcome to the wonder that is a badger. Rali ignored her flicking his burning blood onto the ground and resolutely attempting to go back to sleep.
Raiha
She snickered unnkindly and looked to the lumbering badger. He whickered and she snorted back. Then he began a slow chuckling speech about the stupidity of the lythanoids. She laughed quietly and closed her eyes again. Rali was either terribly annoyed or feigning sleep. Lifé: You are such a fool.... Rali: I'm not used to these beasts. Lifé: Excuses. Excuses. Rali: *yawn* She stroked the side of his face, then leaned back and promtply fell asleep. To all appearances anyways.
The Harlequin
He considered finding, and promptly throwing, foresaid badger, but he somehow felt that the critter would side against him. Like most of the free world these days it seemed. It was strange. Darkness was his element, but so far the surface's darkness has just been a pain in the ***. Waiting until morning before working out exactly how to even whatever intangible score existed seemed preferable to slipping even further behind. Whether Lifé was truly asleep or not, after the events of tonight, became immaterial. Rali did fall asleep, and wasn't willing to awake until his eyelids felt light touch them.
