I was watching an episode of Yu Yu Hakusho the other day and watching Yuske and Kurabora (excuse my spelling) fight that really big guy it got me thinking that this would be a really cool RPG if done right. I just want to know if anyone ever thought of an anime or manga that could make an extremely good RPG.

An enjoyable RPG from an anime or manga, eh?
Well, in my opinion, I couldn't support this about other's opinions, but I'd think Dominion: Tank Police would be an interesting RPG.
The storyline by itself is interesting enough. A city plunged into pollution from all the technology created, while police roam the city using tanks and other vehicles of weaponry. I'd very much enjoy playing a role of a Police Officer in this city, of which you investigate events which lead to deeper events. It just makes sense.
Although, the sexual material would have to dissapear, I would think this would play a good storyline which includes a base to build upon, a successful RPG.

I've been debating making 24 RPG's, each based on the different storylines from Cowboy Bebop. If I ever get around to making one, it'll (hopefully) be pretty cool.

There actually was this really cool Yu Yu Hakusho fighting game awhile back. It was four players, a lot like Super Smash Brothers. I played it briefly, but can't think what it was on (maybe SNES).

There are RPGs for lots of anime in Japan... Most are just not bothered with here.

For example, Sailor Moon has a few brawling games... but there is also a RPG that's quite good. Ranma 1/2 also has an RPG, as well as a fighting game... And there is a Tenchi Muyo RPG as well. I've also played this weird 3x3 Eyes sidescrolling RPG type game that was rather interesting.

Those are all fan translated too, if you look around. So most of it has been done before... Sadly most anime based games are awful, just like most movie based games here are awful. Appleseed is an example of a really bad one.

Most anime games that are brought here are either changed (such as this one Dragon Ball game on the NES... they renamed it Dragon Power and changed all the text, even though the characters are obviously from Dragon Ball)... or they have nothing to do with RPGs. For example, the Gundam sims and fighters.

I have the Sailor Moon Pretty Soldier rpg, the Magic Knights Rayearth rpg, one DBZ rpg (among 5 other DBZ games) and their fun.... but mostly the anime based fighters (especially the Gundam ones). The rpgs usually use the same storyline or try to add on to it, which usually dosen't turn out well. I usually like anime based games because being a fan of Tenchi Muyo! and then playing the game adds on a lot of charm. (The Tenchi rpg is fun!) The same with all anime based games.

As far as anime related rpgs go, the closet you find is the Robot Taisen series, and Sunrise Eiyuutan series. Which basically is an rpg/strategy games involving the characters of Gundam and sometimes other anime series into an rpg format. Very fun, the only problem is all the games are Japanese. So unless you read japanese your up the creek without a paddle.

A friend of mine has the Sailor Moon RPG on the SNES and it's in Japanese and yet she beat the whole thing without knowing what a word of it meant. ^_^

I've always wanted to play the Ranma 1/2 rpg. I think it would be pretty interesting. I know there was a fighting game out of the SNES, but of course, I never got a chance to see it. So yeah...
