Darkmoon
*looks around* tis tis tis... Not a single thread about this movie up. Well I'm excited to see it. It was a great book and had a good and original story to it (well, more original than alot of books/movies our there). It's name may not sound like much but I assure you, if they made it like the book it should be pretty good :D I'm probably going to boarrow the book again to refresh my memory about it. Juu
The book was very funny. ^_^; I'm kinda looking forward to it, but I get the feeling that I won't like the movie as much as the book. Alot of the characters look like I imagined them to be, though. ^_^
Syk3
I can't believe that they are making a movie out of this book. I really enjoyed the book, but I don't see how the movie could match up with that. I may skip over it entirely, so as to retain my memory from the book.
Rhys Mayiessen
Hey Nazanin I finally saw a preview for that...now I know what you were talking about...it looks interesting even though I have never read the book...
Yu Yu Hakusho!
I really liked the book. I need to read it again before I go see it in theatres, if my dad will take me. He says it looks stupid, so I probably won't get to see it. It looks good to me though....
Turkey
I really like that Shia guy(I forgot his second name), especially on Even Stevens. Now, I'm gonna look up the book, to see if I like it.

Ellerby
OlgaTheDwarf- Here u r! In this age of gloom and doom in children's fiction, it's refreshing to find a truly funny book for kids. Sachar's over-the-top satire has depth, originality and loads of child appeal. Poor Stanley Yelnats is convinced he'll never get ahead in life due to a curse brought on his family by his "no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather." Falsely charged with the theft of a pair of valuable sneakers, Stanley is sent to a juvenile detention camp where he is forced, day after day, to dig a hole that's exactly five feet across and five feet deep. Sound grim? It is! But what makes this funny is Stanley's understated, deadpan description of the camp, the people in charge of it (Mr. Sir, Mr. Pedanski, and The Warden), the other delinquents (Zero, Zigzag, Armpit, X-Ray, Magnet, and Squid), and how their story fits together with the historical events which led to his family's infamous curse. The intricacy of the plot, eccentricity of the characters, and overall absurdity of the story reminds us of the novels of Ellen Raskin (The Westing Game; Figgs & Phantoms). Just beneath the surface of this entertaining tale, however, is a more serious statement about the enduring power of friendship and loyalty when the odds are stacked against you -- curse or no curse. OlgaTheDwarf
And what does that have to do with holes?

Bing
And what does that have to do with holes?
Well, in the centre he is sent to, they had to dig holes basically. The book was fantastic, and I would love to see the film, because I have my interpretations of what things look like etc. especially the
gods thumb on the mountain
Does anyone have a link to a site with information on the new film?
Sara
The book was mind-boggling. I've read it six times, and every time I catch some little thing that I missed before. I love it. I don't know if I'll go to see the movie. I'd be ever-so-distressed if it wasn't as good as I'd hoped.
Syk3
Well, I saw the movie on Friday. ^_^ It was a lot better than I thought it would be, mainly because movies from books don't turn out that good. In the movie, they kept a lot of good things from the book. It was believable, funny, and even had good acting. The only real problem that I had with this movie was that, in my opinion, they focused a lot more attention in the beginning and middle, and really didn't put that much emphasis on the ending to allow everything to sink in. Ryan
I haven't read the book yet because every time I go to the library I end up forgetting about it, then when I get home I remember and I get mad. It looks like a very good movie. I have also heard great things about the book.
Juu
I saw it on Friday, but I forgot to reply! ^^;;; Holes was the best movie I saw this week, out of the three. Alot of my friends wanted to see it, but they said they were too embarrised to go see a Disney movie at the Metreon. There were alot of younger kids, but the movie was really good. I actually liked the casting, and I think they fit pretty well into their characters from the book. Magnet actually looks just like one of my friends. I had to stay for the credits just to make sure it wasn't him. ^^;; Yeah, as Syk said, they included most of the parts from the book, but focused a litty bit too much on the beginning and middle. But I still think they did a great job. I actually wouldn't mind seeing it again. Darkmoon
I saw it on Saturday. I thought it was a great movie. I haven't read the book for a long time so seeing it reminded me of alot of things that I had forgotten about it. I loved it ^^ While I was leaving I was thinking about the yellow spotted lizards and why they didn't bite them then I realized that it was because of the onions, lol. I guess that proves what Sam said earlier in the movie. I want to see it again. I'm going to barrow the book tomarrow to read it again.
(eeeeeeee! *watches Pirates of the Carribean trailer over and over*)
I wanna see that movie too! lol, Disney is really on a roll!
Juu
The best thing about Pirates of the Carribean is that Orlando Bloom's going to be one of the main characters! ^______________________^ And he has his shirt half open the whole time, too! :faint: *cough* ..........o.o;;; (Ignore that last part. ^^;;; )
Sara
Heh. My buddy Carolyn saw it, and she was pleased. If it meets her standards, I'm willing to watch it enthusiastically.

You could say that we were...survaying it for an audience of 12 year olds. ;)
Originally posted by Juuthena The best thing about Pirates of the Carribean is that Orlando Bloom's going to be one of the main characters! ^______________________^ And he has his shirt half open the whole time, too! :faint: *cough* ..........o.o;;; (Ignore that last part. ^^;;; )
My friend's dad noticed it in the previews when we went to see 'Malibu's Most Wanted'. Juu
Keke. ^^; Well, when I went to see the movie at 9:40pm, (when I thought it'd be safe to go), half of the people there were like, seven years and under, so each time they said a bad word during the movie, all the kids started whispering to their parents, or glancing back at the rest of the audience. ^^; Though, some of the scenes made me jumpy, too.
Especially that part with Kissin' Kate Barlow. I remembered she went back to the guy who wanted a kiss, shot him, and kissed him, but I nearly jumped out of my seat when it happened. Also, that part when she killed herself with the lizards.
*shudders* I always imagined the lizards looking more gecko-ish, though.
