Avalon
I got into anime at a young age. I remember when I was 5, sitting in front of the TV, waiting for Speed Racer to come on. I also starting watching Sailor Moon when it was on UPN. Toonami came and I started to watch that. I really didn't like DBZ when it was aired on UPN...in fact, I hated it! I liked Pokemon better. I started watching DBZ when I was 13...my cousin made me watch "The Tree of Might" and then...well, you know...
JCBaggee
Technically, the first anime I actually saw was "Vampire Hunter D", when CN aired it in the early '90s. I remember struggling so hard to stay up late enough to watch it. However, years later, while watching Thundercats, I noticed an ad that said "Has Goku Become....A SUPER SAIYAN?!" Like so many before me, I was intrigued and hooked. So, I watched, and got really into it. A few years later, I realized how many other anime I had seen (VHD, Ronin Warriors, Speed Racer) and have been watching Anime ever since. --Chris
Imaku3564
Though I'm not proud of it, my first anime is Sailor Moon. I watched it in my toddler days, but stopped ever since I moved to America. Then I got totally obsessed with Pokemon in 1998 (and I still am). A year later, I got into Digimon, too, and Yu-Gi-Oh a few years later. During my Pokemon-Digimon stage, I started going on the web with my obsession, and I discovered anime. Those are pretty much all I watch, but I recently did searches on Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop to know why everyone else likes 'em so much.
VP-Master
I think the first I saw an anime series was Pokemon in 1999. Later that year, I saw Digimon and I was pretty content with that. I knew these shows came from Japan but I didn't even know it was called anime. I didn't see a true uncut anime series till October 2001 when I saw some dubbed Ranma 1/2. I knew a little more about anime then but I hardly cared about it. I really got hooked because of one of my friends. One day around April 2002, he gave me like 60 CDs of anime (Trigun, Kenshin, Nadesico, and tons of other stuff) and said I could keep them if I liked them. I was surprised seeing the stuff subbed but I liked it a lot better than the dubs I was used to seeing. Just watching a few of the stuff, I immediately wanted more and here I am now, an anime fan. amibasuki
I was first introduced to anime when Samantha brought home a rented dubbed Sailor Moon video. couldn't stand it though. a couple of years later, I was (somewhat) into the Pokemon craze (as in I bought one of the GBC games and knew the names of most of the Pokemon). wasn't too impressed with the show though. then a year or so later, some of my guy friends were talking about how awesome DBZ was and whatnot, and told me I should watch it. and after a LOT of poking and prodding, they finally convinced me to watch it. started watching it when the Cell saga restarted for the umpteenth time, and I was hooked. then I got into other Toonami shows, and was introduced to Fushigi Yuugi, which got me started on shoujo anime. I was a bit skeptical of FY at first, since I had Sailor Moon stuck in my mind, but after watching the first volume of it my mind was completely changed. and there ya go!
Wintermute
Although people seem ashamed to be into Pokemon, I really think that the series was quite good, it was the merchandising that I hated. I got into anime through Robotech. A friend of mine had some videos of it. I'm not sure how he got into it, possibly through Tom, (a friend of his, and now of mine too) but that's how I did. My favourite anime at the moment are Evangelion, the fantastic Martian Successor Nadesico, and Magic Knights Rayearth if only for the incredible Fuu Hououji
Solid
A weezer video clip named only in dreams (cowboy bebop video) made me want to see this show (after a great disapointment from dbz) so i started it, and somehow got into trigun, and now ive seem more than 9 anime tv seires (in a year that is) im addicted. G.D. Ryoko
I got into anime a long time ago when I was in I think 1st grade. Sailor Moon came on 6:30am (my time)and my cat and I use to watch it before I went to school. Next I got interested in DBZ then pokemon. I knew these cartoons were different so I looked them up and learned they were called anime. Ever since then, I`ve been hooked on anime and my friends think I am weird. Shinken
The first anime I saw, along with many others, was Dragonball Z. After the first episode I saw (the one where Raditz nabs Gohan), I looked up Dragonball Z online, and this site was the first I went to. So, I guess that this site is a major factor in my anime affliction. (So is Cartoon Network) :demon: Saiyan Out :demon:

Ninjaman
For me, it all started with DBZ. I was flipping through the channels when I came to the show. I knew it was one of those Japanese cartoons and I wanted to see what it was all about. I loved the show. ^_^ But sadly, the channel that had DBZ stopped showing it(it was UPN) and I haven't seen it in quite some time since I don't have cable. The closest thing I had was DBZ in spanish and the channel that had it was all fuzzy. But then came Pokemon. It brought me back into the anime goodness. Then came Digimon, which I became hooked to. Eventually, I got on the internet for some Digimon info and I found out that there were even more anime shows. Ever since then(which was about a year ago), I've been trying to get my hands on DVDs with anime shows like Cowboy Bebop. *sigh* If only I had cable or money for DVDs. Guest VashTheTyphoon
Well... I never really consider Dragonball Z an anime but technically it is I guess. So, about 4 years ago I was flipping through the channels and I saw DBZ on the spanish channel. Is was thinking WTF is this but kept watching anways. A couple monthes later I started watching DBZ after I saw it on Cartoon Network and thought it was awesome. Now I watch tons of anime. (Is it me or does DBZ seem like a "gateway anime?" Heh... lots of peoples first anime.) Where do you live anyways digitalshadow? DBZ is still on CN over her in US... not where you live? Majin Buu saga is on now, I think... Anyways, at the moment Im watching DBZ once and a while, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and just started Neon Genesis. I have box sets for both Trigun and Cowboy Bebop. kiddy_phenil
yeah, but it seems toonami is the major spring board for most. my friend's into kenshin. at first she claims she didn't like it, but as she talked about it more and more you could see she was warmin up to it, so now she's asking me to see the movies, manga future episode dvds.. so see where she goes from there.. Kwai
I think Toonami is just fine. I also like the Adult Swim on cuz they have the best series, Trigun, Inuyasha, and Cowboy Bebop.
kiddy_phenil
i guessin their next step will be gettin stuff like the slayers, that is clean enough really to put most of it on toonami give or take a few lina's size jokes, and they'll have to do a bit of hacking to it, it'll probably be on adult swim but ranma too, yup, we could always use more rumiko takahashi.. and before they start whining, i guess move the rest of toonami discussions to its designated board.. Kwai
I hope evangelion will b on Adult Swim some time soon. Trigun is almost over cuz it has like 7 episodes to go, and I'm not sure bout Inuyasha but tonight's gonna b on the Wolf Demon vs. Inuyasha and kidnapping Kagome. I really, really hope they won't start over from the beginning on both of them... it's gonna b a pain to c Vash beat up on weak bandits and Inuyasha beat up on those weak demons all over again...
