Shalistrae came up to his level, and put her hands around his face. He was freezing cold. Without a further thought, she wrapped him in her arms, pressing him into her thick fur and carried him to her room once more.

Lifé looked up from her conversation with the men, and smiled.

Vichante came around again, this time in perfect twilight. There were two candles, giving off the same scent as before. And Shalistrae was there, stroking his forehead like a protective mother.

Vichante: Where am I?

Shalistrae: In my room. You gave our healer quite a shock.

Vichante: Did they do something to me?

Shalistrae: ...just a potion to warm you up. You were on the verge of hypothermia. I couldn't warm you by myself.

Vichante looked at her in confusion, strange half memories rising to the surface. He wasn't quite sure what he was remembering, and he wasn't sure why he didn't remember more.

He'd deal with it later. He blinked a few times, and tried to clear his head. He didn't do much of a job at succeeding, but the point was made. Shalistrae gave him a slight smile and withdrew slightly. Vichante couldn't tell whether she moved a foot away or entirely out of the room. He lapsed back into unconsciousness, a period of rest, far quieter than the last.

When he woke this time, she was sitting down next to him, her hands wiping something warm and comforting onto his forehead. He relaxed and settled back for a change. She smiled slightly and propped his head up in her very strong arms. Then she brought over a shallow bowl and held it to his lips.

Vichante: ....eh...

Shalistrae: Swallow. Or I'll have Lifé do it for me.

He quickly complied, draining the bowl in two swallows. She smiled and set it down again. He stirred. Something in it had completely woken him up. She smiled and continued wiping him down with lavender scented cloths. He sat up, her arm supporting his back. Somehow, he felt stronger, but still as weak as water. Maybe it was the drink.

Shalistrae: How do you feel?

Vichante: Alive. Anything else is a bonus.

Shalistrae: The idea is to be slightly more than alive. Otherwise that was quite a bit of work for nothing.

His eyes focused on her, still slightly fazed.

Vichante: You were expecting something to come of this?

Whether the phrasing was intentional, or the result of fogged mind, was not something Shalistrae was intending to deal with right now.

Vichante: I'll take that as a no.

With a rather laboured sound, he heaved himself up, leaning against a conveniently materialising wall. He decided further movement was not really advisable at this point.

Vichante: How long am I stuck here like this?

Shalistrae: As long as I want you to be.

Vichante: I take it I'm your pet now.

Shalistrae: Hardly. Most people don't develop crushes on their pets.

Vichante: Does that mean what I think it is?

Shalistrae: Yes. But I have enough brains to know that it's a foolish idea.

She blushed underneath her fur and immediatly began bathing her tail. He laughed and leaned back. Satisfied. Obviously, she was young, but not young enough to be the juvenille she was behaving as.

Vichante: Well, normally, I'd probably have enough brains to agree with you, but right now I don't, so it's really an open question. I will stress the point that I'm a bad choice though.

Shalistrae: And I'm much better?

Vichante: I have no idea. I'd have to ask Lifé.

Shalistrae: ...I somehow doubt that would be neccessary.

Vichante: Oh, now I'm intrigued.

Shalistrae's response could be dignified by calling it a giggle. Vichante chose not to dignify it though, so it remained unanswered for quite a while.

She licked her claws and tried to not color furiously. He chuckled and patted her head. She raised her hackles and grolwed at him. He laughed again and she looked away, embarassed once more.

Shalistrae: I'm considered the black sheep in my family.

Vichante: Because you quickly fall for foreign men?

Shalistrae: Sort of. I make bad choices regularly.

Vichante: That makes two of us.

Shalistrae: Interesting...

Vichante: That's strange.

Shalistrae: What?

Vichante: Last time I implied to a ...female acquaintance...that she was a bad choice, I got slapped...

When the ringing in his ears faded, he looked back at her in indignation. That was surprisingly painful, and even more uncalled for.

Vichante: What was that for?

Shalistrae: I assumed you didn't want to be disappointed.

Vichante: Oh trust me, I'm fine now.

She smiled slightly, and picked at her nails. This conversation was starting to embarass her. And what would Lifé think? Rinkayum would ridicule her.....aww but what the hell? It wouldn't be the first time. And didn't he have a crush on Lifé?

Shalistrae stood up and touched his face with her palm. He looked at her. Eyes half shut, long lashes obscuring his view of her expression.

Vichante left his eyes slightly hooded, not really certain where this was going, where he wanted it to go, where she wanted it to go, where it could go, and most importantly, exactly why his eyes were not adjusted to whatever light was around. Kind of anti-climatic that.

He absently wondered exactly who's idea it was that got him into this. He suspected Lifé, but doubted that this particular ....altercation....was entirely of her engineering. The rather intriguing creature in front of him probably had a lot to do with it....

That thought analysed, his eyes opened fully in surpise, and he wondered just what lead to that choice of words.

She withdrew her hand and turned, coloring furiously. Her tail whisked around her legs, a sure sign that her embarassment was bordering on catastrophic. Vichante smiled faintly and put a hand on her shoulder. She turned, eyes fully open, glowing silver.

She quickly looked down again. He brought her head up to face her again.

Vichante: Well?

Shalistrae: ....yes?

Vichante: And I was informed that I was impossible.

Shalistrae: I'm sure they were right.

He looked her in the eyes a long moment, whether softly or in brooding wasn't apparent. Shalistrae stared right back at him, their eyes not really conveying anything, but remaining fixated nevertheless. Shalistrae still appeared slightly embarrassed, and Vichante couldn't help himself. He raised an eyebrow suggestively, grinned lasciviously, and slowly ran his tongue over his teeth.

The reaction was somewhat unexpected.

She slid her arms around his neck, lips pressed against his, hands touching his throat. Slightly shocked, but not completely surprised, he kissed her back, gently, then roughly when he felt her teeth graze against his lower lip.

In the hall, Lifé looked up, smiled, then looked down again. Ilmiwyrth shoved her. She gave him a wink and touched his temple with two of her fingers. His eyes opened wide, then closed again. He chuckled.

"Somebody's gonna get lucky tonight."

Vichante gently removed her hands from his throat, placing them behind him, and moving their bodies close together. His own hands rose slowly, fingers tracing soft lines over her spine. He traced even softer lines over the inside of her mouth.

She almost growled at him. Apparently, she wasn't that used to teasing.

Vichante wasn't too concerned though. He drew her to him more tightly, his mouth enclosing hers more demandingly.

She yielded with some good grace, then hooked her foot around his leg expertly and tripped him. The two went crashing down onto the bed without a break in their kiss. He felt her shoulders, then her throat, hands closing around it. Shalistrae's mouth opened in what could've been pain, but the rest of her body knew it to be pleasure.

Vichante: You're going to die.

Shalistrae's eyes shut part way, and she arched her back.

Vichante removed his hands from her throat, and grabbed both her wrists in one hand, holding them above her head. He shifted position slightly, removing any leverage she might have gained, and returned his other hand to her throat. He smiled down at her, teeth flickering into view for a second before disappearing into a deep, satisfied smile.

His neck craned down, his mouth opening. First his lips brushed lightly over her neck, elicting a slight shiver, a slighter moan. His mouth opened further, his teeth now tracing more forceful lines over her skin.

Lifé stood and stretched, then she walked to her bedroom and sat down on the futon. Ilmiwyrth followed quietly. The two sat in silence for some time, then Rinkayum walked in.

Ilmiwyrth: Yes?

Rinkayum: Did you counsel Shalistrae to do this?

Lifé: Of course not. Don't be a fool.

Rinkayum: I don't aprove.

Lifé: She's old enough to make her own desicions. That includes who she wants for a mate.

Ilmiwyrth: How permanent do you think Vichante would allow such a relationship to be?

Rinkayum: That depends on how well he knows what is good for him...

Ilmiwyrth regarded him with a slightly amused smile on his face, a mere upturning of the corners of his mouth.

Ilmiwyrth: Tell me, should that be construed as "He'd better stay with her", or "He'd better get outta town quick"?

Rinkayum: Either way you like. No doubt the end result will be the same.

Lifé: Which still doesn't change the fact that it is Shalistrae's choice.

Rinkayum: And it's my choice not to like it.

Ilmiwyrth: Yeah? Well it's my choice to....wait, we're not doing that, are we...

The sudden trail-off get a few confused looks. But at least it lightened the tension.

Lifé: I think she'll give him a wonderful night. I think it'll work.....strangely enough.

Ilmiwyrth: Eehhh....

Rinkayum: Well, could be worse.

Lifé: Yeah, he could've been a drider.

Ilmiwyrth: Or a manticore.

Rinkayum: ENOUGH! I'm going to bed.

Lifé: Good night,

She smiled and Ilmiwyrth nodded. As soon as he was out of earshot, Lifé collapsed into a helpless fit of giggles.

Ilmiwyrth watched in quiet amusement as Lifé gained control of herself. It took quite a while, and when she finally calmed down, there was still a glint in her eye.

Lifé: Or worst of all, he could have been you...

Ilmiwyrth: Now that was well and truly uncalled for. And probably not even correct.

Lifé: Oh?

Ilmiwyrth: Hey! I'm by no means perfect, but I'm certainly not a manic depressant ex-cleric of darkness with no respect for anything even remotely involving existance.

Lifé: What's that got to do with anything?

Ilmiwyrth: You'd be surprised.

Lifé: I doubt there's anything you could do that would surprise.

He shook his head and raised an eyebrow, the smile never fading. He rose slowly, absently stretching.

Ilmiwyrth: Much as I dislike agreeing with him, I believe it would be best if I retired.

He left with no particular haste, but he didn't exactly wait around, considering the rather nasty bent of laughter that followed him.

Lifé chortled and pulled back the covers. Without further ceremony, she removed her shirt and her hair ties, then promptly fell over...fast asleep.

Ilmiwyrth found his room with little difficulty, laid down, stared at the ceiling a bit, then also fell alseep.

Rinkayum, still slightly pissed, finally found rest as well.

Of course, Shalistrae and Vichante were still...wide awake.

Unsurprisingly, it was Ilmiwyrth who woke up first. He stayed in bed quite late though, not particularly doing anything except staring at the ceiling. He had a sneaking suspicion that it wouldn't get any more interesting, no matter how long he stared at it. That was a hyopthesis he was willing to test. That was the excuse he gave to whoever knocked and asked, anyway. It wasn't anyone he yet knew, so he felt pretty safe with sounding like a fool. Not that he really cared who thought what about him, but saying it to Lifé might provoke a reaction he didn't want, such as forcibly dragging him out of bed, and he didn't want Rinkayum dropping that uninteresting ceiling onto him.

Not that he really thought that would happen, but taking chances was making staring at the ceiling more interesting.

A time passed. He would have called it something a little more accurate, but he didn't know what time it was, much less how much of it had passed. Which probably meant it was time to get up. He'd deal with that implication later though.

Using stealth long perfected, she slipped through the halls, silently opened his door and dive bombed him.

Lifé: WAKE UP!!!!

Ilmiwyrth: Ouch.

The force of her jump had knocked the both of them off the bed, onto the floor, and into a corner. She stood up, dusting herself off, smiling brightly.

Ilmiwyrth: I was already awake you know.

Lifé: Well, wat should've I yelled?

Ilmiwyrth: Breakfast is cold? Breakfast is ready? I am beautiful?

Lifé: I was going to save that for Rinkayum...but he's already up.

Ilmiwyrth: What about our traveling companion?

Lifé: They're still asleep. And it'd be best to leave them that way.

Ilmiwyrth, who had yet to get up, looked at her in a fashion that quite clearly conveyed he certainly had no intention of doing anything to the contrary. He looked at her a moment longer, still somewhat disgruntled, then smiled pleasantly at her.

Remembering his former antics, she backed away. Didn't save her. He slid forward, wrapped his legs around her waist, and raised himself up, throwing her onto the bed, her face hitting the pillow. He held in place while he stood up, and sat down on the bed next to her. Calmly holding her down with one hand, fending off angry swipes with the other. When he at last let her up, she turned to face him, more annoyed than angry.

Lifé: Are you simply going to act like an elder brother every time I annoy you?

Ilmiwyrth: I haven't decided. Tormenting you when you make me get up seems well justified though. And besides, it's not like you didn't just run in here and jump on me. Which was completely uncalled for.

Lifé: Not completely. You hadn't gotten up yet.

Ilmiwyrth decided that it was quite obvious she wouldn't be able to see that there was a very good reason for that fact, and left it alone.

Ilmiwyrth: So, what was so pressing that you had to physically assult me?

Lifé: Rinkayum is royally pissed that they've actually survived for more than just a night.

Ilmiwyrth: And you had to wake me up because...?

Lifé: It would be a good time for us to discreetly escape. Like now.

Ilmiwyrth: I hope we haven't damaged your good standing with them.

Lifé: He's madly in love with me. I'm fine.

Ilmiwyrth: Fascinating.

Lifé: So I'll let you wake them up....and look for me. I'll be slightly to the north of here. And just for future reference, if you jump on me again and hold me down again...I'll be forced to enjoy it.

She slipped out the window and disapeared.
