Any conversation that has to do with Grave of the Fireflies should be in the Grave of the Fireflies forum. I merged the two threads for you, but next time take a look at the Official Threads Directory before creating a thread that deals with only one anime.
As for the candies, I don't think it's as big a deal as you're placing it to be, though, of course that's always up to debate. As a fan of the movie, I wouldn't mind having a case full of those on my shelf. It'd be cute.

As someone who enjoys eating... I'd probably eat all of the candy before the day went through.

Though the site you linked had some amusing points. After all, if the can really was used as a container
for the little girl's ashes
it'd be difficult to market it to mass audiences. You'd either have the crowd that have seen the film and would find it disturbing, or the crowd that hasn't, and don't care about it. The Otaku/collectors will always grab for it anyway.

How I feel about grave of the fireflies often is based on my opinions of real life. For some anime fans fantasy is always what keeps them entertained looking for a act of fighting or violence. However seeing the MyOtaku Community I see many people who love/would love this movie. Its story is plain out riveting and the art style is really well done. Through out the movie you often feel very involved with the characters and the continuous development of the main character and his sister really makes you just want to cry at parts. On another note, this film really does provide a different view of WWII.

I ask this all the time, but find very few people who have: who has seen the beautiful, classic anime film "Grave of the Fireflies".

Its an anime that's even on Roger Eberts list as one of the greatest WW2 films of all time. Its the tale of two Japanese children, orphaned by a bombing run and used by the only known relative, who resolve to survive on their own in an abandoned shelter.

A gorgeous, heartwrenching anime film that anyone who claims to like anime should see.

I merged your thread with the official Grave of the Fireflies Thread. Please remember to use the Official Threads Directory located at the top of the forum before making a new thread on a subject, it is likely that there is already one and we do discourage making multiple threads of a certain topic. ~Ikillion
