Azure Sea Logo & A.I. Banner/Avatar

I haven't put up anything in a while...so I thought I'd give it a go.

This is the logo for an upcoming RPG that I'm planning to start.

It's pretty basic. In fact, I'd say it's one of the quickest jobs I've ever done. But I kinda like it. I'm not so sure about the edges...I did them by hand. But eh, I didn't want to focus more time on the logo rather than the story itself. ~_^

The character isn't designed by me -- but she is a character in the RPG. I'm thinking of even making wallpapers for each character if the RPG is successful. ^_^

Also, I might use this thread to show my latest avatar/banner combo.

Yes, as you can see, I'm a big A.I. fan. ~_^

Both are pretty simple. I'm not sure if I'm totally happy with the avatar's animation...but eh. I can always fix it later. ^_^

By the way, if anyone knows a LOT about A.I., PM me. I have something to ask about it.

I have noticed that jagged edges tend to detract a lot of attention away from the image. The Azure Sky banner isn't very impressive when compared to other things I have seen in the past, but it is simple and effective. The text seems a little out of place though, changing the color would probably help (as Dark_Apocalypse pointed out.)

Even though I have never seen A.I. I like your banner the most out of the three images in this thread. But maybe you could make the background black, and make the text white instead? Eh, never mind. I just like things to be monotone...

Overall they are a departure from what I am used to seeing from you, but still pretty good.

First: SEE A.I.!

Phew. ^_^; Now that that's out of the way...

I understand what you mean when you say it's not something I usually do.

I rarely do the whole "future/tech" type of design that Shift and others frequently use. But after seeing the movie again, I felt really compelled to try it.

I wanted to do something very simple and with a really careful choice of colour. I'm actually thinking that I should have anti-aliased my text in the banner...but I guess it doesn't really matter either way.

I really like David's silhouette. When you see the movie, there are a few somewhat disturbing/dark shots of him...where his silhouette is emphasized. I really like that whole idea. ^_^

So the banner is insanely simple, but I think it speaks.

Ah, A.I, now there's a good movie that really never got what it deserved. Sure it was long, and the ending was sort of...different. But I still love that movie. I'm not sure if I know a lot about it, Jeh, but I know enough to feel passion for it and all the allegorical, futuristic, and thereby emotions it conveys.

As for your first banner. As Shy said, the jagged edges detract from the overall interest. I find that mostly my eyes focus on the jagged edges rather than the whole of the banner. The jagged adges are just so busy, if you know what I'm tying to say.

I can say this, though: I do like the Azure banner. The text doesn't fit well, but otherwise, it comes together pretty well.

Your avatar is okay. The animation on it is sort of boring; it's pretty much just a water ripple effect thing. It catches your eye on first sight, but it's so boring. It's okay.

The banner I like the best, too. The simpleness of the advertisment that you put in there--the one that was shown during the teaser for A.I. itself--really makes one want to see the movie and see what it's about. Ahem, anyways, I think that banner comes together pretty dang well. It could use some work, but otherwise, it's the strongest of the images you've given in this thread. I love the simpleness of the banner, I really love it. Good work.

Yeah, I must admit, I'm really disliking the Azure logo at the moment. It was definitely way too rushed.

As for the avatar...I really wanted to make a very subtle animation that was not too noticeable. I tried to make the avatar fit the banner. So, yeah...maybe I will try to improve it. ^_^

I'm glad you like the banner though.

I have always admired your work, James, and these arent an exception.

The Azure Sea banner is plain and simple, I like it like that^^ The text, though... maybe a dark blue to go with the banner?

A.I. Banner and Combo... I loved the movie. There were some parts in it though, that made me feel like it was going to end. The ending suprised me, though. Anyways, the Banner is awesome. THe whole silhouette of David is cool, and the text really makes the people who haven't seen A.I. think. The Avatar is kinda plain, I like the rippling affects, but like Mitch said, it gets boring.

They are all great^^

Save me a spot in your RPG!

Okay, well, I'm going for another banner. This one's a bit more...bold.

I'm also going to change my avatar accordingly. Hopefully I can make something more interesting next time. ^_^;;

How's the new one?

Hm. I'm not sure if I like this one better. I'd say the other banner and this one are near equal in their quirks and where they stand. I do like how you gave this banner that nice animation. I do like the new effect in the background; it's pretty nice. Heh, I don't know if it's better; I just can't really say. They're both good banners. So stick with the one you like, Jeh.

*eagerly awaits new avatar*

The only thing I don't like about the avatar is the font you used for Intelligence. It's like regular Times New Roman... I never liked that font.

Anyway, Azure is like the most popular Italian word... or maybe it's something else as well, but it's Italian I know that for sure. I like 'em all.

Hehe yeah, I used Book Antiqua for that text. I wanted a "classical looking" font that wouldn't look horrible when I downsized it.

But, again, thanks for the input. I always find it hard to settle on something that I like.

I like the first green avatar better, but they are bot really exceptional, except fot the generic font for "intellegence, that's what really brings down the second one, seen as i am a huge fan of blue , techy & futuristic stuff.

I like the animated david shillouette banner better too, it's really cool. do you know of a good website where I can learn to do such effects as the 3d background on them? it'd be really cool ^_^

The banner's background reminds me of an x-ray slide...?

Anyway, I've liked all of them. ^_~

I would suggest putting a greater pause between the first and last frames of the banner animation, though.

Yep, Sara...it's meant to look like a kind of x-ray. But you can see the metallic stuff (so it's an x-ray of a robot, I guess).

And [email protected] don't really know where you can find tutorials. I don't use them, I just tend to expiriment with things. In this very thread you've seen how my images have changed by experimentation.

So yeah, I don't know if I can help you on that. V_V

I really like the second A.I avatar, except for the font used for 'intelligence'. It just doesn't seem 'techy' enough to me.. to go with the theme of the movie and avatar background.

The second A.I banner is very nice. The background is good and the colours mix well, and the text animation isn't too fast. :)

I couldn't see the first one, because this computer blocks out most of the hosting websites.

Anywho, I liked the second one. It's nice and simple, but it gives you a taste of the mood in the movie. However, the text seems to stay a litty bit too long. At first, I thought the banner just said, 'David is 11 years old'. x.x;
