That's very true. I spent about 3 hours non-stop trying to get Great Saiyaman, and he sucks majorly! I belive that the game should've gone onto the Buu saga, but the game was good without it.

wow I got the Great Saiyman on like my first try not to hard I can beat tournament modes now easy as hell I just avoid the edge of the ring and beat the crap out of the guy I hate fighting Krillin though he so short only hit him 2 or 3 times when attacking it sucks anyway Budokai is an alright game but it does get boring after you beat the story and all that only other thing to do is tournament

the easiest way to beat the tournaments is with hercule and his dynamite kick hit them twice with that the first time it gets them close to the edge the second it knocks them out of it i beat advanced that way and unlocked gohan as saiyaman

Well, as for fighting games, I just play them for fun. I've played many in the past, and I haven't got a chance to play the other DBZ fighting games, I usually never want to waste time on them.

As a fighting game, Budokai is stupid. I think the Capcom fighting games are the best. And the same with the Guilty Gear and SNK games. I mean, the controls stink in Budokai...what good is a fighting game if you can't jump or duck? And the physics in this game are off...flying around is nothing but weak levitation...and trying to land is a pain within itself. I didn't really like the evasion techniques, either.

I dunno. That's just my opinion on Budokai. I would've actually played more than 30 minutes of it or even bought it myself if the battles were a lot like the recent Robotech games (or those other multiplayer mech games). I mean, just because it's a "new" fighting game, doesn't mean it should be limited to just side-scrolling. It would be more like the DBZ series if they had used the 3D free-wandering thing (kinda like the Gear battle tournament-thing in Xenogears), where flying through the air would just be a matter of holding down the L button.

I think that the next DBZ fighting game should be on the GameCube, considering the controller set-up is pretty good for fighting games!

I got everything..all breakthroughs and moves and characters.....The game is challenging but after a while it gets simple...the thing about it is that ti can get very CHEAP when playing a tournament and you can get knocked out the ring by some cheap move (esp. when playing on Advanced and you're like on the fourth battle before the final).
vegeta is really tight though with his Final flahs and big bang attack, and Hercule is cool with those 2 moves...(one where he blows you up with that video game, and the "head-to-the-stomach move) those are awesome-icious....

I didn't know which board to post this in (DragonBall or Sony) but after I saw a closed thread about Ultimate Battle 22 in Sony, I decided that this board would be best.

I recently bought DBZ Budokai for the Playstation 2. It's not the best fighting game I've ever played, but I think the gameplay is a lot better (and faster) than any of the past DBZ fighting games. Combos come a lot faster and easier, and most special attacks involve very little d-pad movement (ie. perform Goku's kamehameha by pressing Punch, Punch, Punch, Punch, Energy). I like the idea of only being able to perform special attacks after punch-kick combos, but it makes the game seem a little amature-ish; like they want to make everything a lot easier to do. That, or they just wanted to find an alternative to the standard "half-circle motion, and punch" method. My major gripe with gameplay is that there's no jump-button.

I'm impressed with Story mode. It's like watching an abridged version of DBZ. Radditz appears, kidnaps Gohan, and banters with Goku & Piccolo all within five minutes (something that took one or two episodes originally).

I liked the search for the dragon balls the first couple of times, but it gets to be really tiring by the third time. I hate going in and out of Popo's shop over and over for hours and hours until a random dragonball appears for sale. They could've found a more interesting way to search for the dragon balls, so I don't have to constantly weave in and out of a shop for hours on-end just to wish for one character's Breakthrough.

So, has anyone else played this game? What do you think of it?
Yes. As a matter of fact I bought it. Your right they should have put a jump button or some way we could fly at our own will and not only when someone gets knock in the air.I've haven't got all the Dragonballs yet but it is boring looking for them.

Have you played the Legend Of Herecule. It's pretty good to say it's Herecule. And If you didn't get that far look at how many Dragonballs you start off with.(6) Then after you when the advanced level of the tournament. It isn't the best fighting game in the world but it's the best DBZ game yet.

The tournament is pretty good but it's wierd you have to buy it. We should fight one level a the get to the next. The story mode is great you don't have to wait for the next episode.

I've beaten the game several times on several memory cards. The game doesn't prove much of a challenge to me. But I do enjoy the combat system. I think it's easier, while a little babish, too, it isn't that bad. I can't wait for the new Budokai installment, DBZ Budokai 2 for the PS2, coming in November.

I played it....and it's ok. There really needs to be a fly and a jump, it gets annoying when they do a blast and you dan't dodge it at all. Also..Babadi and Buu are NOT on the cover. Teen gohan, Goku, Cell, Piccolo, and Vegeta are on it. There could be a better gameplay, too. one question thoguh, but it's a spoiler
In the saaiyan saga, number 2, how do you beat Nappa? I mena, you have 2 life bars, he blocks everything, and it's almost impossible to block his!
Is that really a spoiler? Maybe..it's all in how you think i gues..*shakes head*

Well I have the game and it is pretty kewl! When I first played it, it was pretty tough because it took a while to get the moves down. I do know that the moves are easy to do but it is better when you memorize them so that you do not have to go back and forth to the pause screen in the middle of a match. So I used Gohan the whole entire time and mastered him. I am also extremely good with Trunks but not as good as I am with Gohan. I give the game an overall rating of 8.5/10
The story mode was pretty cool. I liked the alternate endings because it added more choices to the game. It also makes you get more creative. But I like how everything followed the show exactly how it was played out![except for the alternate endings]Although it could have added even more minor parts. I am not being picky but ya know. I especially like when Gohan battled Cell. It played through that whole part perfectly! I give the story mode a 10/10!
As for the tourneys, I think that Beginner is WAY to easy, Intermediate is a little bit easy, and Advanced is way to hard. I just barely got the Great Saiyaman by winning the tourney. IT WAS HARD! I do like though how you get Hercule and the Great Saiyaman after you win though! I give the tournies a 9/10!
Mr. Popo's shop is ok but unless you have EXTREME patients then it all realies on luck for you to get what you need. Me myself, I have lots of patients, so I go in and out and in and out all lf the time. But I will say that it gets EXTREMELY boring doing it over and over. They should just make a list of the moves for you to choose from but instead they can up the prices. That way more people will play more because they will know what the prices are and they will have something to look forward to after winning prize money from tournies! I give Mr. Popo's Shop a 6.5/10![sorry buddy!]
I think that the Legend of Hercule is totally DUMB. I played it the first time around and it was ok because I liked the challenge, but when I beat it and it just said "here is your hi-score" and gave me zilch for a prize I pretty much wished that I never had bought it.[except to say that I beat the game]I give the Legend a 6/10![Screw the legend]
As for the controls, they are so much better than any other DBZ battling game. I have Ultimate Battle 22[I just got it] and I still can't figure out how to do the specials using that circle D-Pad thing! But in DBZ Boudokai, it is so simple to get off a move. I mean think of Hi-Speed Hammer! Punch, Punch, Kick, Kick, Energy! It is so easy to do but yet it does like 1 life bar of damage! I give the controls a 10/10!
Oh has anyone heard that they are coming out with Boudokai 2! It is supposed to be awesome! It will have all of the stages of Buu, including Uub, and will have SS3 Goku! Plus the Graphics and stuff are supposed to be way improved! But sad to say I still have heard no word on if there is a jump button! :(:(

P.S.- Can anyone show me how to put a banner in my sig? Preferably a DBZ one!
