Seriously... is Chicago the only place that rips you off for songs?

Even Disney is allowing 3 for a buck? Bleh. Like I said, where I've played it's between 50 cents and a dollar for one song... I could play at home, but the US versions of DDR have absolutely horrible song selections.

When I went to Six Flags Great America, they had a few set up... They were popular enough. It was always funny to see the person you least expected kick *** at the game. A really big nerdy looking kid, some girl, a tiny Asian boy... Never anyone I figured would be any good at this or dancing lol.

Prices really range where I live. One mall with MAX2 allows 3 songs for 50cents. The mall that is closer to me makes u pay 75cents for 3 songs, also MAX2. It doesn't really affect me since I got ignition pads and they work for me. Definitelety not the arcade feel but it lets u play harder songs (MAX300) with no problems.

OK, one thing I learned today was that it was a good idea that I went Megabowl early today. I seriously suck at DDR -.-

This group of Chinese people came in about half an hour later, and ohmigod they were playing so awesome... they basically killed perfects on expert mode on some 200bpm song >.>

But anyway, I just thought I'd say, one of the machines here is Euromix 2. Just thought IceBunny or someone might want to know..

*walks off muttering about his suckyness dancing*

LOL! oy.... somehow Im not suprised.. I cant really do any perfects on Expert.. I can barely do them on standard actually, but Ive only been playing like 7 months or almost 8 actually.

yeah, ive been all playing thinking i was the mac, and had my butt handed to me when someone else comes along and gets a AA on something like Paranioa on Expert mode.. hee hee.. its what keeps us trying to get better tho! embrase your suckiness... IT MAKES YOU STONG! =P

What gets on my nerves more than anything is how people think that just because they can play that game they can dance and if you can't play it, you can't dance. Well, I'm a dancer and I'm here to say that being good at that game has NOTHING to do with dancing abilities. The moves we do require our entire body and not just our legs.

What's funny to me is that everyone I've seen that's any good at that game is this nasty goobery looking guy. When they play, their mouths hang wide open and they hold their arms in this weird position like a retarded person. And then they think they are so cool when they really have no idea how stupid they look.

And that reminds me...if you want to see something funny, just watch them as they play and see how different people hold their arms. Since you aren't doing anything with your arms, different people do different things. It's hilarious. ^_^

It depends on who you see. The really good people know how to put on a show while they are doing the moves. The last kid I saw was doing all sorts of crazy stuff with the rest of his body and arms, as well as doing a lot of the stuff with his back facing the screen and so on. The kid knew how to dance.

There was this other guy I've seen that did similiar things, except he also jumped and pressed buttons with his knees sometimes.

And of course there are the guys who kind of just walk in place while they press the buttons. I'm not very good at this game, especially at arcades (I don't play it often anywhere)... so I'm sure I look like an idiot heh.

I do this weird thing with my hands where I have them in fists, but my thumbs are sticking up. Very strange.

Two very good friends of mine do the coolest things while they are dancing. One can get on his knees, press with his hands, etc etc. The other swings his arms around like he's dancing. For some reason it looks cool, even thought it's hard to explain. When Anna plays, she holds her arms directly at her sides.

Haa...DDR...*hugs this game*I love to dance, and this game just makes it so much fun!^^ Its kind of like...hmm...a mixture of hip hop and jazz, you just don't move from your spot.^^() The way I dance with this game is just jumping around with my arms up in the air. I just luurrrrve this game.^^() *remember when I used to just hold my hands down and move my feet...*Oo

My brother's friend, Phillip, is actually extraordinarily good at this game. He can do the hardest songs, and yet he's so short and chubby.^^() It's really quite amazing.

I love this game, and I'm getting better at it. However, I'm not nearly good enough to even *pass* Dead End. I can't even do that on Basic. >_< Sadly, I don't have the metal pads (I'm too poor)... but I do have DDR Konamix and DDRMAX and a soft mat (mine has lasted for way over a month, too).

As for machines, our mall has a DDRMAX2 around, but other than that... nothing. It's sad, really.

IcyBunny... which episode of Will and Grace was this? Was it the one that aired on April 17 at 9PM ET? I seem to remember someone playing DDR...

my fave show ever? Will N Grace!

Jack freestyled on Will N Grace. I bout spit up my spagetti when I saw him playing! THANK YOU WRITERS! :: BIG KISSES! :: You made my year!

:love2:
I had the unfortunate timing to catch that on TV the other day. It was hard to find very funny honestly, when it was obvious he didn't know what the hell was going on... I was happy they at least kept it as DDR and Konami's game, since shows like to change that stuff on TV to avoid paying the companies involved.

It was like the equivalent of people playing games on commercials without a cartridge in their system, or pressing buttons that are never pushed in the game.

Bleh.

... Joy kill

k, so my friend went up to San Antonio Texas to compete in a DDR tourney... we live like 3 hours away from SA. And hes a good player, better than me for sure, better than most of the people down here... but not the best down here either. I had this sinking feeling when he said he was gonna go comptete cuz we have been playing for like less than a year. *almost a year* but still.. up in SA, there are players that have been doing this for YEARS!! soo.. I didnt have the heart to go and watch this and MAN WAS I RIGHT. =( My friend just totally bombed, and even then, I cant say he bombed cuz he went up there.. started the song, took like 2 steps and then just got off the machine. *oy* He said it didnt help that the girl he is still in love with was there wtih her "new" boyfriend.

Moral of this story? NEVER DDR TOURNEY UNLESS YOU KNOW YOUR EX IS OUTTA TOWN!?!?! hee hee... or, never DDR against the big boys.

Everybody blink, this is the ONLY time you'll see Raiha here. I love DDR...have the pads, DDRMax, and am currrently working on unlocking Drop the Bomb. Which is taking a very long time.... *sigh*

I played it in a miniskirt once. Biggest mistake of my life. And I shall never do it again.

Favorite songs are uh.... Healing Vision, all mixes, The Cube, and Japan! Cause I'm good at that one...and the ethnic beat is cool.

I've only played it a few times, but I love it! I want it sssssoooo badly!!! ^^;;;;;; *iz saving up for a PS2, DDR, & a dance pad* ^^

It's a video game....that doesn't require you to sit on your lazy bum to play! ^^ You can get quite a work from it! Plus, it's great for improving hand- er....FOOT-eye coodination! ^^;;;;

An outsider's perspective on DDR:

I work as a waiter in a restaraunt built into the mall here, that happens to be right across the hall from the arcade.. And sometimes when it's slow, we'll watch the kids playing DDR Extreme. Having never played the game, I must admit I've had more than a few laughs at the expense of these poor rhythm-deprived suburban white kids, pounding out their dances like they're stomping bugs. There are a few that we recognize as regulars, that bring their own towels, water bottles, and electric fans into the arcade for 8-hour sessions! I'd pretty much written it off as ridiculous...

Until they put up a big poster advertising a tourney, and suddenly all these kids who REALLY know how to dance are in the arcade all the time, practicing! There's two in particular, who will crank it up to some amazing AAA-rated song and do it perfectly, doing spins and knee-drops and six-steps. Needless to say, I have a newfound respect for all of you who can constrain yourselves to dancing on a pad that small, and make it look good! ?_? (For myself, I learned to "dance" in the pit at a Rancid show, so I'm pretty much hopeless for DDR.) Anyway, kudos! I'll definitely be watching, when that tourney goes down...

Dude, there are tons of them here. I think there was a post like this way long ago, they probably just got tired of posting what they can do again and again and again.
But its all cool.
I play, not like crazy, but adequately enough to not make a total fool of myself in an arcade. Owning DDRMax 2 for the ps2 help alot too (but i cant play as often as i wish cuz its scratched :animedepr )
I play mostly on standard...few heavy.

When DDR was introduced to us like ... 7 years ago, it was a way of life. My friends were all really good at it, and even went to competitions. Though, it's difficult to me and I've never really gotten the hang of it, and even suck on the beginner's level. :animesigh

It takes skills. It's kind of dying out where I live now. Do you guys ever watch DDR tournaments?

I've never seen a DDR tournament before, but I like playing the game. Gives me a fun way of exercise. It's better when other people play it with you though.

And times, however, my sister picks the really fast paced songs when she's at beginner and I'm on light (not very good mind you).
