Kaede-san
A week ago we had one of those {School Talent Shows} and my cousin's band Emory (Weird name but i liked it!, I made it!, and...well it's weird!) but anyways we where gonna sing a song by Weezer called Buddy Holly (In my Siggy) and almost all the boys where laughing because this is an all girl band! and its funny because they where like "That's a song by guys and chicks are gonna sing it! haha! they're gonna be terrible!" Well when we performed they shut up and made the funniest face! and you know this made me realize how much girls are made fun of just for starting a band it was...wierd guys are jerks! they're almost always talking smack!...and this also happened to the Donnas too but why do guys do that? what I wanna know is if this hapened to anybody else? is this common or is it just me? Justin
I can't say that I've ever been in a all-girl band, performed a song by Weezer and stunned a group of guys who said we couldn't do it. Though, I'm sure it's a great experience. :) All I can say is, "Good for you." And I say it sincerely, lol. -Justin
Wintermute
Hah, if you can show them up, then go for it. Personally, I've only ever been in an all boy band, and the only all girl band I've actually seen playing were terrible, but I know the people involved and just how rare it is for them to touch an instrument in practice. I know most bands aren't like that. Keep it up!
Ryan
If they ever become famous I would say rub it in their faces. Don't let that get to you. Live your dream. Don't let anything stop you.:)
PiroMunkie
I am not really all that much of a "chick band" fan. Very few have ever really pulled off a decent sound, in my opinion. Personally, I do not really like the Donnas, so that was not the best comparison for you to make. I do not know... Kittie was fairly decent. The Distillers (not an all girl band but the vocals are) are pretty good, though I can usually only listen to them for a while. The Devotchkas are probably my favorite "chick band". If you performed greatly, then that is good. Weezer is an okay band. Buddy Holly is a good song. Though, chances are I would have still criticized you, or if I actually found the performance decent there would be constructive criticism. I am finding it difficult to imagine a girl band singing that song. *shrugs* I think the thing that irks me the most about "chick bands" is that they usually get that feminist air to them. They do not shut up about how they are all/mostly girls and they are in a band. That right there can turn me away from listening to them. They are a band just like any other band, the fact that they are all girls does not mean that much to me. If they can pull it off, then that is great; but do not gloat about it...
future girl
to tell the truth i'm not a big fan of all girl badns, and i myself am a girl. ususally, it's a girl in a guy band, like for example, Siouxie and the Banshees or the Eurythmics or solo women singers. my friend wants me to join this band she want to form that'll be all girls, and i said yes, even though i'm not taking it too seriously. she knows this, of course, i mean she herself can't even sing.

I hope that made sense.... anywho, if you all have a good decent amount of talent, go ahead and keep at what you're doing. I'm sure you'll find lots of people later on who would appreciate your talent.
Jesus Chicken
I have been part of a band with a chick singer, who also played bass, and we won that damn dirty battle of the bands.. So feck you all, damn dirty bastards! But yeah, I have only heard one all woman band: Skulker, and they were suprisingly good. They are both the same, I think...and I hate to sounds like a feminist, (I AM A GUY!)But this is just another example of women's failiers being more talked about then men failing. Which is strange because I am sure that there are plenty more guy bands who fail.
Harry
As long as you don't turn into a stupid pop band and get famous on stupid annoying songs becaus you're cute.
Wintermute
I don't really like the Donnas either. Kittie... kittie were determined to show that they could do it just the same as men. The result? They did it just the same as men. They weren't really distinctive in any way. The exception is the song 'Charlotte' in which they use some more feminine style vocals and it is VERY effective. Unfortunately, that's only one song. Otep are a good female fronted band. Otep Shamaya is a very gifted singer, though she is more than a little insane, she has a unbelievable range and flexibility. Kaede-san
Pop my a** if we do turn that way blame the singer! i'm the guitarist so I don't care as long as I have fun and all but honestly we where reading these replies yesterday and we decided to change we have 2 boy in the band now cuz the bassist, and the other guitarist said that when I jump as I play I get TOO much attention from people. And they say it isn't fair they want to be noticed too and I was like; "Fine! go ahead I don't want attanetion but that won't stop me from jumping! it makes me play better!" so they left and so my friend and some guy audidtioned and now we're sorting this out like if the singer of Emory should be male or female but hey their problem.... I just think that when it come to Punk bands, guys sing better but I can't say that to the girls (Except my cousin) they'll think i'm "Switching sides" or whatever so i'm just quiet.I still am pist at those guys though! :flaming:
Semjaza
Punk bands are up in the air vocalist wise... Crap that masquerades as punk right now generally has such awful vocals that it doesn't even matter. I can't think of much in the way of female punk singers I am into. That said, I generally prefer female vocalists. Kim Deal of the Pixies and Breeders, Toni Halliday of Curve, Jessicka of Jack Off Jill and Scarling, Claude of 12 Rounds, Liz Enthusiasm of Freezepop, Yuka Honda and Miho Hitori of Cibo Matto, Nina Persson of the Cardigans... And so on. They're wonderful. I'm also in love with Kim Deal and Jessicka (to a lesser extent), since I'm sure everyone wanted to know that. Anyway, who cares. Good music is good music. If you played well, screw everyone else that felt some need to be "funny" about it.
Lady Macaiodh
I had this problem. Jessica & I were trying to start a chick band once. But we could never find a decent drummer. No girls we met were very good, & all the guys didn't want to play in a chick band! They wanted to be all macho. Like Slayer or something. Quality chick band drummers are so hard to come by. Anna, move in with meeeeeee!
