Shy
Summer is coming up, and it seems like a lot of people on the boards will have to get their first jobs this season. So I was wondering where everyone was planning on working during the summer, what kinds of experiences have you had searching for jobs, etc. -Shy
conpiracymonki
Well sometime within the next 8 weeks of school, we'll all be out on our work experiences. My self-placement means I'll be working at an arcade for a week with two other friends, at an out-of-town shopping centre. And we also get discounts and special offers for the while we work there too (including free cinema tickets every day after 9, lol). Hopefully if I get a good report from a my boss, then I'll go back and ask for a part-time job over the holidays. Meaning more money, discounts, and friends and gaming. *is satisfied with his first job* ^__^
Semjaza
I'm not doing retail ever again if I can help it... I don't want to work in food either. So... I've got two possibilities lined up. The first is taking care of old people at this one agency. I spend like 8 hours helping them out, keeping them company, keeping track of medicine and so on. Possibly driving them around too. I don't think that would be so bad... Plus I'd get about $100 a day. The other job would be at the zoo. Keeping track of animal behavior and reporting problems, feeding animals, grooming the domesticated ones and so on. That pays $8.50 an hour, plus free zoo stuff. So I'd be happy with either of those. The zoo one doesn't pay as much, but I think it would be a great job. I love animals, and I'd like to work with them in some way.
Juu
Two years ago, I convinced my uncle to give me a job at his arcade. He paid me 20,000 won everyday. (about 20 dollars). It was pretty easy, too. All I had to do was help with the prizes. And I convinced him by threatening not to babysit the cousins anymore. Which would mean he'd have to take care of them. ^_- If I get stuck in Seoul again, I'm going back to my uncle. Besides, it was fun working there. ^^
Kwai
I'd either be working at a shipping yard >_< or maybe, I can go teach kendo at my dojo, but that will probably a volunteer job...(Master can be very convincing about volunteering since he has about 30 swords within reach) If I'm incredibly lucky, I can go back to Japan over the summer, and either work odd-jobs at my dad's office or work at an arcade my friend works at :) But chances are high that I would be at the shipping yard :(
Guest Matt
Whatever you do, stay clear of fast food. I worked their, hated it, and quit. and my other friend that worked their is scared from the grease/burners.
Kwai
Also... try to avoid manual labor... especially during the day... it is like absolute hell because of the heat, dehydration, and the labor... and the pay is.... cheap!!!

Stress, I'm always away from home after school, it just messes everything up. Damn hate it too. I'll be trying to look for another, easier job in the coming months.. Maybe something like a trolley boy or-another.
Rhys Mayiessen
I want to work somewhere and I have applied for a couple of jobs but they're never calling me back. Oh well I guess I'll just have to apply for even more jobs. I would really like to work at a book store or a pet store but there are none near me...
Pressure
Actually, I'd love to work at 7-11. :D Unfortunately, Adam, topped me.. getting the coolest job imaginable.. The little bastard got the last job at Six Flags. THE LAST ONE. There was a 2,000 person waiting list, but since the manager liked him, and the way that he talked, she hired him on the spot. He loves it, he works in games, and gets off at four, so he gets to roam the park the rest of the day. So.. While I'm cleaning out the Slurpie machine, he'll be plummeting over the 45 degree angle drop, on Superman. >_< -curses life-

That would be so kewl. ^-^ My cousin works at 'Everland' in Seoul, which is exactly like Six Flags, but he doesn't like it. Especially during the summer, when it gets really hot and humid. xx;
G.D. Ryoko
I am thinking about washing dishes for people and doing laundry since I was too late to hand in my job papers. For the job though, people must have a dish washer and a washing machine. Then I`ll take the job. Just kidding.^_^
Guest Imsirion
I dont have a job, dont like thinking about one either. I would never get one at a fast food place. I thought about bag boy/shelf stocker at the local store but I'm not sure. My Dad does maintenance (sp?) at a local school district and he said during the summer, I can get a job and work with him. Though, I'd probably get stuck doing little things like painting classrooms....... And I DONT want to be near a school in the summer. I might do it though, just hope I get a decent pay. Red
I'm going to be looking for a job, preferably in GAME down in Camden - but they look like they have plenty of people already. Failing that, I'll just scour the high street.. I really need money. *looks at four pounds in bank account and screams*
Guest Anakin Solo
When I turn 16 I have to get a job, so my mom says. I hate her. Anywho....I once worked at the Mc whatever place. Quit after 3 months. Terrible place to work, terrible. So, over the summer, I am going to see if I can get a job at Barnes and Noble, since I love to read, and would love to work at a book store. :)
Syk3
I'm not really sure where to start when looking for a job. It will be my very first one, and I'm not sure what kind of job I can get at my age (15 and 8 months) with the experience I have (i.e. none). I'm thinking that I may work at a summer camp for little kids or something. Hopefully my mom will give me some work to do at my house anyway, but even so, I should be getting my learners soon and I need a steady regular job. Does anyone have any suggestions?
