Dan Rugh
I know that we arent supposed to have "favorite" topics, but I thought this was different. Don't think that I don't know the rules just because I am new. I have a tendency to like characters that have smaller parts in anime, but I also like a lot of more important characters too. A good look and an interesting background are always a good start. Supreme Kai(DBZ): I like Kaioshin's character design. His clothes and hair are really cool. His powers, though not the strongest, are a little unique: the halting power and the transportation to anywhere in the universe. Maybe another part of the reason I like Kaioshin is because he was so doubtful that anyone could defeat Majin Buu. I actually went on to spend the $8 for the Supreme Kai action figure. Tsukasa(.hack//sign): Tsukasa is different from a lot of typical anime characters. He always looks depressed and barely smiles. The bad experiences he's had in his past in the real world make me feel connected to him for some reason. Further, his costume and staff are pretty cool. Kohaku(InuYasha): Kohaku has an awesome demon exterminator's outfit with a very cool scythe-like weapon. Another reason I like Kohaku is because he has a sad story: being killed in front of his sister and then being forced to be her enemy. It's sad. Vash(Trigun): Vash is an original character and that is why I like him. Not only does he have cool nicknames like "...The Stampede" and "The Humanoid Typhoon," but he is compassionate and cool-looking. It's ironic that Vash is so feared even though he refuses to kill anyone. Alucard(Hellsing): This guy is just awesome. You have to be cool to be a vampire with your name being Dracula spelled backwards. Alucard can regenerate himself and acts totally evil even though he is working for good. Well that's enough of my ranting for today. I could go on like this forever, but you've probably already lost interest in my opinions. So, does anyone want to add their input? Kwai
Edit: Welll... if you guys aren't intending to stamp on it, then I guess I should post a better quality post :) Wolfwood (Trigun) - I like him because of his death scene. That scene lasted maybe 1 or 2 minutes, but I think it expressed his life and himself really, really beautifully. I won't go into details(since I dunno how to put on that black tag thingy), but I thought it was incredible on how they were able to stuff so many aspects of his life in that one final moment. His repentence, his memory, his suffering, his sins, all of it united to make a truly beautiful death scene. Rei (Evangelion) - Shes cute, hot, mysterious, and all the other good stuff :) Besides, she gets to pilot a huge humanoid robot. How cool is that? And I also liked her death scene. It was incredibly short compared to Wolfwood's but it was just as tragic since she matured/developed herself through out the series, and she was even able to cry at the last moment. It was also a surprise to me that she saw Gendo in the final moment rather than Shinji. Tabris/Kaworu (Evangelion) - His real form, his true side as an angel was surprising when I first saw it. I didn't get the transition and I was dumb founded for a while when I first saw it. I loved the way he was so determined throughout the whole thing, yet casually indifferent towards it at the same time. It was beautiful(for me) when he was just floating in the side talking to Shinji while 01 vs. 02 was going on. His death scene(which took pretty long) was indifferent as well. However, his final words(which has left me at the moment) was beautiful, and I loved it. The way he died is the exact opposite of Wolfwood; he lost the will to live. This does not make him as tragic as the others, but the confusing emotions welling up from the other character, Shinji, made him tragic. Sesshoumaru (Inuyasha) - His name, as best as I can translate it, means the one who kills life. His name was cool, compared to Inuyasha(which kinda means... dog demon). His attitude on killing anything in his way had a quiet determination about it, and I liked it  I, however, liked the episode in which he saved that little girl with his sword. I didn't expect him to do that and it surprised me, but it was touching nonetheless. I like him because he seems(or maybe is) so heartless and cruel, and yet demonstrates human emotions occasionally. A few additions... Hanya (Rurouni Kenshin) - I adore that guy for his gung-ho loyalty to Aoshi. I like Aoshi, but this guy is just too loyal. He isn't buyed in by money, and cares not about the safety of the rich guy he's supposed to defend. His combat technique is unique and interesting, though I'm not sure if that illusion thing will work. I also like how he just disappears and magically reappears everywhere. But the best of all is his mask :naughty: The mask is cool, cruel, and destructive in its features. How can I not love a character wearing that mask? :p Moro (Princess Mononoke) - The calm, cruel, loyal Moro is one of my favorite anime characters. She is wise, as she has lived for quite a while(According to Japanese myths, animals which live for hundreds of years, especially cats and dogs, grow two tails and gain mystic powers and become a demon) and as a result she is fierce and loyal in her beliefs. She also accepts death quietly, and seems to regard death more as a peaceful slumber after her long ordeal of her life. She also has a good deal of kindness, as she saved San and respects Ashitaka. Out of all the wonderfully crafted characters in Pincess Mononoke, I like Moro the most. Matariel (Evangelion) - I did not understand why this angel was soooo weak and had such a pathetic means of attack. I personally hate this angel(cuz I think that episode was incredibly boring), but I like the analogy behind it. Matariel is the angel of rain, thus the only means of attack it possessed was an attack from above, which was basically that corrosive acid. Also, Matariel means 'Present from God'... I'm assuming its a 'present' since Matariel was such an easy kill... getting shot a few times and it dies... pffft... But I think the analogy behind the whole thing is cool :) Naussia (Naussia of Wind Valley) - Shes the main char of the first Studio Ghibli film, "Naussia of Wind Valley". She is much like San from Princess Mononoke, in being she is a determined, capable girl. She is able to communicate with the huge bugs which populate the post-apocalypse world, and she protects her village from the bugs and fellow humans. I like her probably because of the way she acted towards the bugs. Everyone thought of them as evil and feared them, but she tried to get to know everything in the world around her, and to make friends with them. She also fulfills a prophecy so that was cool too :) Adding more as I remember...

Kent
Intresting point shy, I have many charctors I like, infact, too many to name. But at risk of wasting your and my time, I will give a short list. In no particular order... Gokou for his kindness and pure-heartedness. (kenshin for this same sort of reason, only different because of the 'redemption factor.') Hold on: I realize now that a great deal of what I love about specific charactors, has to do directly with the relationship surrounding them. Tetsuo because he reminds me of my little brother. Kaneda for a similar reason... he represents in many ways the frustrations of an older brother. The overall charactor development in the movie "AKIRA" was amazing. The relationship between kaneda and tetsuo was really something that made akira stand out on any level. Another relationship/ charactor combo I have fallen in love with was the combo of inuyasha and kagome. I absolutly love the relationship these two have and that relationship is most likely the reason I watch inuyasha. (cant wait for new eps.:D) I also want to stress that its not relationship alone that make me love a certain charactor... Wolfwood... true redemption... I honestly missed wolfwood when it was time to say goodbye and the thing that bothered me was the way I didnt care for him all that much before the "events." Another charactor that comes to mind is ryoko because of the way she reminds me of a lost love... One impossibly wonderful love. I will never forget how ryoko said to tenchi that the circus will always come back if you are patient. Well... thats about it for my quick list. *maybe it wasnt so quick*
Arkadyz
Well i could see where metatron would think that...Unfortunatly QA's sticky notice made it seem alittle like ANY fav thread would be closed...Regardless of whether its intelligent, non spam or not... Now i know better but some dont :D Enough of that back on topic... Theres alot of anime chars i like because thats one of the things i like most about anime...The characters get alot of development and are highly likeable. If i had to pick the ones i liked best... Spike: The guy exudes cool. His past is a mystery and is only slowly leaked out. His hand to hand fighting skills are nearly unbeatable and hes one heck of a pilot. Hes loyal to the woman he loves...Gotta respect that  Chi: When we first meet her shes completely oblivous to the world. This innocent robot with the appearence of a girl must relearn everything about the real world around her like a newborn baby. And in the process of this reveals more then a few good and bad things in humanity that we can all identify with. She also has conversations with a dark version of herself...Now havent all of us done that at some point? :p Well i hope i gave good enough explinations...Was trying for informative w/o giving too many spoilers out :naughty:
MillieFan
Hmm. My favorite characters would have to be: Obviously, the one in my username and banners, Millie from Trigun. I liked that character from the beginning because she's like this total airhead and seems to have a nose for getting herself and others in trouble (like stumbling into a bandit raid or mixing up the weather report with the report on the location of Vash): yet she's also a very deep character at some points. Also, you have to love that she wasn't drawn for the fanservice. From the same series, I also like Wolfwood, because he was one of the most well-written characters I've seriously ever seen in anime or RPGs. The conflicted antihero characters forced into being "good" are usually some of the better characters anyway-and he's near the top of that character style. Oh, and I like Vash too, LOL. I don't have a why on that, I just think he's a cool character. I like Haku from Spirited Away, don't know why there either, but I do. I like the cat Jiji from Kiki's Delivery Service because he was funny and always seemed to have the "right" thing to say LOL. Although I only watched a few episodes from the first volume when it was on TV here (on the International Channel) I must say that Tylor (from the Irresponsible Captain Tylor series) was a riot, LOL. That character was one of my favorites, though I gave up the series due to the horrible sub (it looked like a fansub) and when I heard the second volume was borderline hentai. I guess you can say I like the lovable idiot in most instances, and the cool, collected antihero who nevertheless does some good in the rest. LOL. Kwai
I think Haku is likable because of his appearance as a boy, but he comprehends the deeper things, and he is pure, yet he is forced to do dirty work for that witch... hes extremely complex, and people like complex chars... thats me n e way :p And yes, Jiji is funny :) He even gets a girl friend in the end! He kinda overturns the black cat = bad luck thing doesn't he? Cheerful, sarcastic occasionally, and a good companion. Always good to have in an anime I think. Plant_Angel
I always find that animes with brilliant characters in are always the best, action and animation usually come second, but when you have all three, youve got anime perfection. It goes without saying that story is the ultimate importance (well, in most cases!). My favourite anime character is most definately Vash the Stampede in Trigun. It was absolutely THE funniest thing when at the start you think he is really cool and dangerous and then he turns out to be this idiot, but then he isnt really and.........he's hard to pin down, in more ways than one. Thats why I like him as well as his adorable face, lets not forget. Another favourite character of mine is Sho Fukamachi from the guyver series, it was the first anime I saw, so it has a special place in my heart. I link Link too, from the Legend of Zelda series, does that count? The new game is very chibi........... Oh, yeah and Kuroneko-sama in Trigun, makes me laugh EVERY time! Like MillieFan I too like the loveable idiot (even if they do endure immense emotional tragedies almost everytime)
MillieFan
Oh, yeah and Kuroneko-sama in Trigun, makes me laugh EVERY time!
How could I have forgotten Kuroneko-sama? LOL! Ahahahaha, you're so right, even in the most serious episode he's a laugh. What was that quote again that you mentioned elsewhere, went like "I had no idea you were no mere mortal, but a CAT?" nyao. . .nyao. . .nyao. . . Plant_Angel
*ahem* "I had my suspicions you were no mere mortal, but I never realised you were...........a cat. What the hell am I saying?! Where is that idiot!!!?" Ah Wolfwood, he is the coolest supporting character ever (and still alive too, yes he is!) Oh, and I forgot Vampire Hunter D, I saw Bloodlust first and it was like nothing I'd ever seen! What design, what beauty, and what a waist line!!! He's probably the most stoic of my favourite characters and no, I dont think his hand makes up for it, it has to there otherwise the script would be a lot shorter (and he would be stuck in that curse forever). Then again I did like the last line "You're not so bad......you just DRESS bad" Funny.
XxmagentaxX
My favorite anime character and why i like them... Tasuki(Fushigi Yugi): 1. Fire. He's a total pyro. 2. Orange Hair. He's a great character, not many people know this but he does have a really good reason for hating women. Tamahome(also Fushgigi Yugi): He does everything for his family, with the money. And even after, everything that happens with Nakago, he still manages to be with Miaka. Haku(Spirited Away): I have no idea why he is so great! He just is, everyone likes him for some reason. I think its the hair... Rei & Kira (Mars): They are perfect for each other. Perfect pretty people. And they both have something dark about their pasts, to make the relationship that much better. Hameln(Violinest of Hameln): Who are his parents? No one knows. Whats that horn thing growing out of his head? Why is his violin so freakin big? He has a cool hat, great hair. He's juat an all around good character, with a dark side.... Nakago(Fushigi Yugi): He has a reason for being bad. He's gorgous! Brue Eyes Brue! Even though he may not show it, deep down he does have a heart. Just with a thin layer of iceyness covering it. Ryuichi(Gravitation): What can i not say about him? Kumogaro!! He's like 30 and like he's 6! He's the cutest thing I've ever seen! Pika Pika Shuichi! He gives really good advice, and is so loving.. I mean he gave Shuichi Kumogaro!! Thats all I can think of for the moment
klinanime1
My fav characters tend to be people with troubling pasts, or are outcasts, or are fighting even if they don't believe in hurting people. Vash (Trigun): He's a doofus who really knows how to sling a gun. End of story. Wolfwood (Trigun): He's a priest with no scruples about shooting anyone, and his eyes are drawn to the perfect slim-ness of a troubled, lonely, and serious man. Sesshoumaru (Inuyasha): Cool, confident, and poised; wickedly composed no matter what happens, except the fact that Inuyasha finally figured out the wind scar. I'm just absolutely in love with him. Shippo (Inuyasha): He's so cute for a little guy! Trowa Barton (Gundam Wing): Did you READ the manga? He's worse off than Heero, since he first had emotions, but forced himself to repress them. He's also very agile, and is the perfect spy, even semi-beating up the other pilots to achieve his goal. Ed (Cowboy Bebop): Come on, a twelve year old who can hack like that? She was awesome in Mushroom Samba, even though it's hilariously so. Shinji (Evangelion): He doesn't want to, but he's forced to. In the end, he risks everything. Eagle (Magic Knight Rayearth): He's so calm, and risks everything for his goal, even though it's a selfish one. Zagato (Magic Knight Rayearth): He's so calm, even when dying. The Magic Knights blamed everything on him, but he was just trying to keep the person he loved from suicide... sort of. Aoshi (Rurouni Kenshin): He's so quiet and mysterious. Queen Asuka
Well, all of the anime/manga characters that I adore and usually the ones I "claimed was me" as I was growing up. Ah, I love being an Anime Girl. Asuka Langley Soryu(Evangelion): She's my top girl. I love her because of her go-get-em attitude. She never wants to quit and she has a VERY competitive nature, which is exactly how I am. She hates to fail and will do what she can to get her way. And I love it. Yurika Misumaru (Nadesico): Although she may seem cute and innocent, she is very determined to do what she can. She also puts others before herself. She's very tender-hearted when it comes to Akito and I really HOPE that she's the one that gets the guy (of course, I KNOW that Megumi will NEVER succeed...) ^_^ Miaka Yuki (Fushigi Yugi): Another heroine. I am all about the good girls. ^_^ I love her because she never gives up on Tamahome, no matter what happens. Even when he claims he hates her, even when he abandons her, even when he says he can't love her, she just knows deep in her heart that it's not true and she never gives up. She has the romance that I've always dreamed about. ^_^ Chi(Chobits): Another romantic heroine. ^_^ Well, I just love her innocence and perceptiveness. She has the perfect body and a heart of gold. I really hope that she finds the "Someone just for her." I also envy her entire wardrobe from the manga. It's the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen. Yes, I am a hopeless romantic. Those are my favorite females, so I suppose I'll post my favorite males a bit later. ^_^ I also like Naru Narusegawa of Love Hina, Belldandy (Oh My Goddess), Kotori from X, Yukari from Paradise Kiss, and Momo of Peach Girl.
Spikey
Kakashi-Naruto: I love him because of the way he thinks, his blinding speed, his easy-yet not easy going attitude. He is obviously my favorite anime/manga character. I also like him because he knows how to be a ninja, and is good at doing that. Vash-Trigun: He is very funny, a doofis, and can weild a gun. I also like it because he always acts stupid, then when something bad happens he gets serious, and really puts his gun to it. He probably has the best charcter design I have ever seen. It is amazing. Ryu-Street Fighter Alpha: He is just very cool. I like his charcter design, and how he does the martial arts. I also like that he overcomes the darkness and uses the light. He is just very cool. Kenshin Himura (Hitukiri Bouttosi)- Rouruni Kenshin: I like him because he can weild a sword like there's nothing to it. I also like him because he is a wanderer like me. And he is awesome when he gets serious, and does something amaxzing, out of the blue. I like that about him alot. That's mostly my favorite charcters, not many of them, but they are probably my favorite.
