It doesn't matter really how much trans fat is in JUST Oreos. The fact remains that a really large amount of foods use it. So you're not sitting here eating 1,000 cookies... you're eating a bunch of other things that use varying degrees of trans fat. It adds up, just like anything else.

And while self control is the main importance in this, the fact remains that obviously very, very few even know of the possible problems this can cause... which is the problem in my opinion. Seriously, how many people even know what trans fat even is? I'm doubting it's remotely the majority.

Oh...God. Trans Fat and Oreos are bad? *curls up in a corner and shudders about the countless amount of oreos he eats*

Still, I don't think they will be banned; but like Semjaza said they'll only raise awareness to the whole trans fat thing. *goes back to shuddering*

Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
*Rolls Eyes* Only in California do you find -__- people with so much time on their hands. I read about this story when it first hit the news scene chances are he won't win this case by a longshot if anything, the only thing that will come out of this is the label of Trans Fat on it or some warning.

How lame would that be: Warning Oreo's contain Trans Fat and can be harzardous to your health
Oreo Lawsuit Dunked

SAN FRANCISCO - Californians rejoice! You won't have to smuggle Oreo cookies into the state after all.

San Francisco attorney Stephen Joseph says his move to outlaw the tasty cookies has crumbled. He's withdrawing his lawsuit against Kraft Foods.

Joseph says he only wanted to get the word out about the dangers of unlabeled trans fats in the chocolate-cookies-with-white-stuff-in-the-middle.

Kraft spokesman Michael Mudd says the courts aren't the place to make nutrition policy. He says Kraft Foods continues to research ways to get trans fat out of Oreos while preserving the flavor.

Joseph's suit contended trans fats that make the filling creamy and the cookie crisp are too dangerous for children to eat. Trans fat is not listed with other nutritional information on the package.
Ofcourse they should ban Oreos, after all, they make you FAT!If they get you hi and almost kill you like most drugs, or have you addicted and weak, like cigarettes, or inoxicated and dangerous behind the wheel like beer... then they wouldn't have to ban it.

.....

Do you people actually read the thread, or even have any idea what's going on? (that comment is not aimed at those who obviously do)

it's already been dropped becuase the lawyer knew it wouldn't happen from the start, and you still call it a stupid idea?

Well Danny, its just the THOUGHT of banning cookies is SO absurd. I don't even like oreos(that much). But while there's so many other more deadly items they could atleast try a little harder to ban instead of wasting their time on OREOS!!!
PS:What would REALLY piss me to no ends, is if they tried to ban choclate chip cookies. THEN I'd be mad.
