Patronus
If mutants were real, as in X-men, would you be racist and afraid of them? I do not think I would be. I'd probably want to be a mutant if I wasn't already. If I was a human, I would fight for Mutant rights. Tell me your opinions.

Manic Webb
Hmm. There's already a thread on X2, but this is somewhat different, so I'll let this go as long as nobody starts talking about the movie. If mutants were real, to be honest, I'd freak out if I ever knew one personally. Like, if a friend of mine suddenly told me they were a mutant, I'd be a little shocked. That doesn't mean I'd hate or fear them, though. Well, actually, it sort of depends on their powers on how whether or not I'd act differently. If I were dating a girl who told me that touching her skin could kill me, I'd probably either break up with her or take the relationship back a few steps into the "friends" stage. I know that sounds mean, but would you want to date somebody you probably couldn't even sit close to? If I were dating a girl who could control the weather, then rock on. As long as a mutant doesn't have a power that will accidentally kill me just by touching me or looking at me, I'm alright with that. It really all breaks down to a person-by-person thing on whether I'd fear a mutant or not. And if I could be a mutant... I'd want the ability to change my physical appearance to look like anyone I want. Oh, the possibilities.
Kaola Su
WOW, if mutants existed I would so totally want to be one! Or at least date one!! LOL, but I think I would want to be like....hmm...well, I like rogue the best, but being her must not be too great b/c she can't touch anyone, so I would want to be like Nightcrawler, but I would have to say that I relate more to the Scarlett Witch b/c I used to have really bad anger probs! If I could have ANY power I would want it to be flying power!
Arkadyz
Well this is a very good topic...(though some seem to think its a what kinda mutant would you be thread :p ) Im not real sure what id do..I would like to say i would be tolerant but id be lying. Humanity has always thought of itself to be the dominant species and to all the sudden be out done by another breed...It would be umbling to say the least. I for one would be scared as all hell if they really existed. You think we have enough panik today with terroism and viruses? How about having millions of ppl with all kinds of crazy superpowers...Some of whom would be very dangerous...Either because they couldnt control them or choose to use them for criminal purposes. I for one would be perfectly happy if the mutations in Xmen stayed fantasy... I leave you with one question...how would you feel if you woke tommorrow and knew that you where slowly being replaced by a superior race?...To know that your destiny was not yours anymore and you where merely a spectator among a battle between titans...Humbling indeeed...(The Graphic Novel MARVELS gives a good POV on this issue by showing the marvel universe through a normal mans eyes)
Sara
I think it would be a bit of a shock to find out that was one my friends was a mutant, rather like [strike]End[/strike] Manic said. Not bad, just...unexpected. (Unless they routinely blew stuff up, or something...I might get a little suspicius then. ^_~) But honestly, I mean..They'd still be the same person, you'd just know more about them. The scene at Bobby's house just about broke my heart. That would absolutely kill me--to have my family or friends react like that? There is an element of fear, of course--there almost has to be, with extremist groups. And you can be sure there would be extremist groups...I suppose you could say Magneto, etc. I don't stereotype...I prefer to hate people on a more personal basis. A bit off, but a valid point. EcCenTriC fairy
I think I'd probably be indifferent toward them, but I guess I really wouldn't know unless there actually were such things. As Sara said, I think I'd be a little freaked if they started mass pandemonium all the time, but otherwise they'd just be regular people.... with cool powers. ^^ I'm fairly sure I'd be jealous of them, though.
Juu
I would just think of them as any other person, just with something special. If I could, I'd actually want to be a muntant, too. It sounds so neat having powers and being able to control things. ^^; I get the feeling there would be some suspicion if there were, though. I actually think some people might say they're dangerous, and consider them aliens, or something. oO;
DarkSage
I wouldn't be racist at all as a matter of fact I would probably befriend most of em in case they did start killing people and what not also they could protect me haha yeah anyway I think it would be cool if there were mutants like X-Men even better if I was one though thats my opinion
DeathBug
Heh, you didsn't have an option for "I'd be a mutant". Not that it would be important; I'm pretty sure I'm a mutant right now. Our time will come.... Back on topic, I'd be totally into it if mutants were real. I'd like to be one, or date one, or hang with one. Mutants are cool, people. :)
Mitch
Well, I personally wouldn't hate them unless I became otherwise noting of them. That's to say, if they're some maniac, some jerk, and use their powers in a way I see wrong, then I'd definitely hate then. As for in general. Look at other peoples' responses to religion, race, color, all that good stuff. This is like another thing tacked on, if you think about it. Another thing that people can hate you for. You get condemned for believing in what you want, believing in yourself, being yourself, and living for yourself in this world. With mutants it'd be just that much more worse. It'd be another leash that's placed on you. Another thing like being black instead of white. We're still sitting here, forty years later, even more years than than that later than I can count, and we're still so conformed and racial and prejudice. So with mutants, it'd be the same thing. Another thing for people to hate and love and be split on. Another way to stereotype someone, give them a label they never ever ever deserve. Especially seeing as it's something that someone cannot control. It's genetical. Hereditary. So that's the next step in society. Getting genetics down to a science, a prejudice. Won't happen in my life time, and thank god. I kind of rambled, but mainly, there'd be a lot more hate and love and splits and fights in this world with mutants. But eventually--eventually being quite a long time--we'd get over this.
Semjaza
I don't really truly hate anyone as it is. I'm not one to generalize by race if I can help it (I'm not perfect, so I'm not going to say never)... because you have to realize that there are good and bad people in every group. So really, not I don't think I'd generalize to that extent in any situation... The world would at least be more interesting with mutants around. Kei
I would treat them with equality, like they should be. Just because they're mutants doesn't mean that they shouldn't be treated any differently. They're just gifted. The only reason I wouldn't like one is, like Mitch said, they would go around using their powers to hurt innocent people. I think it'd be cool, honestly.
klinanime1
I wouldn't want to be a mutant. Look at the prejudism in our society. Perhaps befriend one, but I think I'd blow up half the world if teased and taunted into an extensively large temper tantrum. 'Sides, human curiousity would probably be the same with a talking cat as well as a mutant. They'd freak, hunt you down, then drill a hole in your head to figure out how you can do it. Kwai
Hmm.. I know everyone said they wouldn't fear one or would like them with a new trait, but imagine an evil mutant. They are still human beings, but they are gifted with extremely destructive powers. I would be friendly with mutants that are non-evil, but one must acknowledge the potential of destruction that mutant can do if he/she happened to be evil. I personally hope there aren't and won't be any mutants...
caffeinefreak5
id treat em like anyone else cause they are cool and can do cool things bt i wouldnt want them to hate me cause i show them off to all my other friends
Epitome
NO WAY!! If they were real, I would like to become friends with them so I could see their special powers and stuff. I would also like it because I might be able to get powers from the other mutanats. Just maybe...
Shinken
If there were mutants, I have to say I'd be envious of their powers. Unfortunately, as the comics display, this envy would eventually lead to some people seeing mutants as a supply kit that comes with powers (just read New X-Men: E is for Extinction and you'll see my point). As for how I'd treat them, I'd treat them just like anyone else; genes shouldn't have anything to do with it. If they're a good person, well alright then. But if they're some megalomaniac with an intense ego (I know a few humans like that), then I'd... well, hate is too strong a word. I'd have to say I'd just... not like them. yeah. that's it. o_O; Hitokiri Battosai
Delian
Well i've always gone by the 'treat people the way you want to be treated', so i'd just treat them like any other human being. I mean, they're just people with very interesting DNA. They're gifted. I wouldn't really think anything of it if one of my friends was a mutant. Although to be quite honest, I wouldn't really want anyone to read my mind or see through my clothes. Thus if anyone was to have special powers, they should respect the people that don't.
