I don't know if anyone noticed this, but although the offline FF all have different character styles, they all have something about the way it looks that tells you its a FF game, but FFXI just looks nothing like the way Square makes their games, i mean they do have chocobo's and moogles, but the way everyone looks, it just doesn't look like an FF game to me....

Um, you might want to say more than that, Chaud. Also, take more time on your posts, it'll look alot better. :)

As for the cost to go online.. well, I remember that it's about $10 or $20 each month.

Merged this with the other FFXI thread. In the future, please make sure that there aren't any other threads on the same subject, on the first page, before you post a new thread.

Well, last I heard it would cost about $10-$15 per month, and $1 more for each extra character on your account. That was a long time ago (almost a year), though, so it could have changed.

Yeah I'm definately getting this title in October for PC. I'm already in a clan, lol, and half the members are beta testers. They said it's really sweet, and after seeing all their sweet screens, I can't freak'n wait any long!!!!!!

Um...care to tell us anything else about the game? I, and probably a lot of other people that didn't get chosen or weren't able to be beta testers, are dying to read some hands-on impressions.

I got in my new Gameinformer magazine, and it had an update on Final Fantasy XI, Since there does not seem to be another thread relating to this, here it goes. The game is set to come out in America, but it will cost a pretty penny. For Playstation 2, you have to buy the game, the network adapter, sign on to a service plan, pay for the monthly bill, and other technical stuff necesary to play the game, yet for the pc, all you need is internet, the game, and play the monthly charge. Now seeing as Final Fantasy is a Playstation game series, does anyone else find anything wrong about making it easier for the PC, or the fact that Playstation 2 owners have to pay more for one game than for the system it is palyed on? I do, how about you?

Um, you must not have looked very hard then. There was a thread right on the first page. I've merged yours with it, now.

As for having to pay more for the PS2 version, that's not exactly true. Unless the game itself costs more on the PS2, you're not paying any more for it on the PS2 than the PC. I mean, it's not like FFXI is/will be the only game that uses the network adapter and hard drive (which is also required). And if you've already got the network adapter, you don't have to buy that.

And really, when you buy a PC, what do you think you're paying for? The hard drive and modem are included in the cost, so it's not like you get them free or anything. PCs just happen to come with built-in hard drives and modems, while PS2s do not. PCs are also more expensive than PS2s. Go figure.

And if you really want to get nit-picky, it's pretty much definitely going to cost you less to get a new PS2, hard drive, network adapter, and even a keyboard for it, than it would to get a new, good PC that can run FFXI. So actually, I consider it unfair that PS2 owners get off so cheap. I'm going to have to upgrade my entire system if I want to be able to play FFXI. PS2 owners just have to buy a modem and hard drive. :p

And another thing; Final Fantasy hasn't always been on the PlayStation/2. It was originally on the NES, then SNES, then the PSX and PC. There were PC versions of both FFVII and FFVIII, though they were released a little while after the PSX versions.

Sorry about the rant, heh; been having computer trouble lately. I don't mean to sound condescending, but I think it may have come out that way a little, so if it did, sorry.
