Sara
--ACT...PSAT...SAT...CAT...IOWA... Okay, enough caps lock. I suppose I was just wondering what folks think about bubble-tests. How do you score on them, do you think they're worth the time it takes, how often does you school administer them, which ones have you dealth with... Not anything very specific, but it's the time of year I always took them in grade school, and I'm curious. Or really bored.
Kwai
I got like a 99% on PSATS last I took them for Math/Vocab, and a 90% or something on writing... I hate them!!!! So far I've had to deal with PSAT, ERB, SAT II, ISEE, and some other stuff I don't remember -_- I don't know why the college base their decisions on such stupid tests. Transtic Nerve
They don't proove anything... Here in Florida we have to take the FCAT (Florida Comprehession Assesment Test - excuse the spelling, I am a product of the floorduh edjewkashun sistum) Which teachers basically spend 4-8 weeks in class preparing their students for... Whats the point? Why do we take that much time out of a regular class, it's English and Math, to teach the student to take a test? Plus it's a test and no test can ever show the true ability of any one person's intelligence. Standardized Testing is a bunch of bull-sh*t. They proove nothing, they never have, and they never will. Some of the smartest people I know can't take tests worth crap, and some of the dumbest people I know always seem to do fairly well on them. Yet some smart people can take test and yet for some reason can't figure ou that turning a screw to the right makes it tighter... To have the ultimate balance and to tbe the most efficent person you can be, you must have a balance between smarts and common sense, if that doesn't exist, you are nothing. Youa re just as dumb as the kid who smokes pot and fails every class, although I'm sure you have some leverage over that person, seeing as how they have neither common sense nor smarts. Standardized Testing does smarts only. There's no common sense in that. Which is why they will all ultimately fail. It's just a matter of time. nezzyjean
I usually get good grades on them..but they are too long and the questions are BORING! Like I went to this place (my parents made me go) and I sat in this room with all these other kids for like 5 hours doing nothing but STUPID BUBBLE IN TESTS on math and reading!!!!! And I had to read some crappy story about some cello player and this random violin player and how they violin player fell in love with the cello player and crap! IT WAS SOOO EVIL!!! It was a total waste of my saturday!!! And I had to be there b/c I scored high on the pre-sats in 6th grade and so they made me go to see if I was smart enough to go to this Duke University Program month long summer program. Well, atleast I made it, but I am not going to their summer program. I HATE BUBBLE IN TESTS!!

Epitome
I HATE THEM... but I do well on them so there not that bad. But I still cannot stand them. I think they should rid them of the schools and just let us pass if we have above a D average or whatever.
future girl
i believe standardized testing is pointless, i don't think the FCAT should be the deciding factor as to whether you graduate or not, the same thing goes for the SAT and getting into collge. there are many factors that can have a negative effect on testers. there are people that i know that have 4.0 GPAs, but are bad test takers and so they cannot pass them. it's funny i should run across this post today becaus there was actuallly a protest against the FCAT in our school today. although i am against standardized testing, that protest was a joke, the participants had no real reason to protest, they didn't know facts and as soon as the administrators said they'd get 10 days suspension everyone went back to class. they didn't believe in their cause so i refused to participate, all they were interested in was coming out in the news.
