Booboo
I'm not sure but I've hearing that Nintendo is going out of business. Do any of you guys know anything on this subject, if you do please tell me what is really going on. Thanx for listening to my question.
Epitome
Whoever told you that is out of their mind. Nintendo is nowhere near going out of business. They just came out with the GBA SP about 2 months ago and its a huge hit. Plus, with all the new games coming out they will be fine.
Booboo
The people I've heard this from are total Nintendo freaks, I mean they absolutly love Nintendo. So thats why I belived the whole Nintendo going out of business story.
Senor Ding Dong
Nintendo ain't going out of buisness anytime soon. THey are beating sony (If you add the units of GC's & GBA's up total), so Sony/Mirco will go out first, then nintendo.

Desbreko
Nintendo isn't going out of business any time soon. Go here and take a look at their 2002 annual report; the sales figures for the year are on the first page (you'll need Acrobat Reader to view the files). Nintendo's net income for 2002 was 106,444,000,000 yen, which translates into about 917,000,000 dollars. So, yeah, Nintendo is doing pretty good for itself, and they definitely aren't going out of business.
Epitome
Yes Desbreko is so right, so, Booboo, whoever told you that, no offense to them, is a pure idiot.
Semjaza
This always comes up randomly for some reason. The fact is, despite Nintendo being in 3rd in the US and 2nd worldwide for next-gen system sales... they are raking in profit in every area they work in. Something that definately cannot be said of Microsoft, and until recently... not of Sony either. They were both taking a loss for systems sold. In the case of MS, they are losing money in basically every aspect of Xbox's sales. Plus, you have to take into account the many, many quotes from Nintendo saying 1.) this will never happen and 2.) if they don't make systems, they'll completely leave the business (meaning, they won't do 3rd party). So yes, your friends are at the least, very uninformed and are believing stupid rumors that seem to start on forums every other month. Nintendo has millions and millions just sitting there, and it just gets added to. They're not going out of business anytime soon.
Epitome
Semjaza just summed that up for you Booboo, so tell your friends to check the facts to see if what they are being told, is true.
James
I would also point out that Nintendo has over $7 billion in cash - aside from any non-cash investments. That's Nintendo's "rainy day fund", so to speak. A $7 billion safety net isn't too bad, I'd say. ~_^
Booboo
Thanx you guys for the information. I was kind of scared that they were going out of business, since I grew up around Nintendo. Thanx again.
AzureWolf
haha, what you heard was probably one of those sales analysts. Yes, I've heard more than enough of them suggesting Nintendo to take the third-party way out (like sega did) and forget consoles. However, that's only because of the recent sales reports: 75% of console market PS2, 13% GC, and 12% Xbox. You see, percentage-wise, it looks like Nintendo's finished, but it's actually that the PS2 is doing phenomenally well. What these percentages don't tell you are the actual numbers. The GC is doing better than the N64, and what you have to remember is that Nintendo has something that neither PS2 nor Xbox can boast: the largest loyal fanbase. No matter what kind of gamer you are, there's always a game that makes you say, "Man, that was such an awesome game." There's yet to be a Nintendo system that didn't have at least one of those kinds of games. Lastly, Nintendo's got a force that will ensure its stay for years to come. No, I'm not talking about Nintendo's monopoly of the handheld market. I'm talking about Pokemon! Believe it or not, Pokemon is still going strong, and while it may have passed its peak, it's no where near "unpopular."
Darkness Ruler
Nintendo definetly isn't goin' outta buisness anytime soon...not with all their loyal fans, always buying their really sweet games (Their games really rock, I love 'em) and their magazine, Nintendo Power. Nintendo forever...I hope.
Guest Mystik
ok look...the only reason the overwhelming majority of people have a ps2 is because it came out a whole 2 years before the nintendo came out with gamecube. n64 was still going pretty strong then, give nintendo another 2 years and see what happens, they sold nearly double in one year what sony was able to do in 4 years with there ps2. so no, nintendo wont be going out of business any time soon, whoever told you that is a babling idiot. (no offense, but i own a GC myself, and its hard to take everyone always putting down nintendo)
