Is there an afterlife?

Well,

I know that this is probably an over discussed topic and will probably get nothing nowhere other than in a huge circle but it always seems to be an interesting topic. Here's what I believe...

I believe that when you die, there's either gonna be a large black nothingness, no conciousness or anything and that scares the bejesus out of me. Then there's the other one. We are reincarnated, in another life. However I don't believe in all of this Karma whatever you do in this life is punished in the next...no. What you come back as is pure chance, but there's always some small part of you, your soul if you wish that goes with you...that effects who you are. It won't effect your actions completely, I mean you could be a murderer in one life and a nun in another. I'm just saying that there are going to be similarities.

There is no such thing as cosmic justice. If you do something bad, you either get punished by the authorities or you don't get punished at all, anything else is just a conicidence.

What does everyone else think. Heaven? Hell? Valhalla...I'm open to suggestions.

I do believe in afterlife. But not reincarnation. I believe that when we die that we will go to one of two place: Heaven or Hell. Once we get there we "live" the best life we can there. But I do not believe that we will come back as a different person with the same soul.

It doesn't concern me. When I die, I die. Not a long life at this point, but I have no real regrets. So, likewise, I very rarely think what comes afterwards.

Enjoy what you've got and worry about that crap if and when you wind up going wherever the hell it might be when you die. One thing at a time.

*brings out the religious flamers attack dogs* I'm ready.

Anyways, MY BELIEF (and for crying out loud, you can't debate personal belief) is pretty much what Agatio said. When you die, you either go to heaven or hell. Not based on what you did in your life, but on who you believe in.

The thought of living in this world over and over and over again makes me ill. I'm glad I only have to go through it once. Hopefully. ^^ The world just sucks that much.

There's a lot more I could say, but I'm leaving it at that. Heaven or Hell. Smoking or non. :D Eternal blissful afterlife or a really short and painful one.

well yeah, of course you can't be sure...but people have speculated for centuries. Surely you wonder what is going to happen when you die. I mean seriously, what happens if there is nothing? You can even comprehend there being nothing...not existing, not feeling. That scares me. Sure you can live your life the best you can and not worry about it. I don't worry about it, if I did that then maybe I'd join a church or something. But you gotta wonder

Well, but, it's one of those questions you'll never know the answer to UNTIL you die. And why spend all your existence mulling over that, if this is all you get? Life doesn't come with a cheatbook. Gotta make your own decision.

Death'll take care of itself. And if I die tomorrow, well, at least I'll die with hope. You really honestly don't know when you will die, so...yeah.

So, you go to heaven or hell depending on who you believe in? But what happens if you're wrong. What happens that if, after all this time, the god/s you believed in weren't real and you're going to hell for that...it's slightly unfair don't you think?

Like DeathKnight said there is no definite way to know, untill well....you're dead.

I don't know if you think about it the concept is rather interesting. An after life, I don't know.

If you look at Earth everything has been placed there for a reason, and everything is sensible to a means. The thought of an after life is not sensible. It has no definite benifit to anything besides oneself.

If there is an after life I doubt there is such a thing as Heaven and Hell. That is just like any other child's tale (on a different level) making sure we do what is right to a human's standard.

Does that make sense?

*shrugs* And what if I'm right, huh?

Again, we will never know until we get there. So why worry and speculate? It's everyone's personal decision. I've got my beliefs, and everyone else has theirs.

It's not like someone from the afterlife is going to show up and tell us. And even if they did, our society is so riddled with suspicion and deceit that the chances of anyone believing the etheral visitor would be very slim.

I could say it's your own choice where you go after you die. And really, it is. So get deciding. =)

*slays her attack dogs* What if you're wrong? What if religion truely is wrong in every fashion?

Outdated, outmatched, outclassed. Clinging to life as its crimes are revealed.

But alas. The taint of 'holy' is on your skin like acid.

Afterlife.

I want to know about what happens before life. If reincarnation exists, then what sort of selection process exists? Is it a random lottery, or is it chosen by the soul?

Such odd questions.

*whistles* Whoa there...slow down on the anti-religious crusade there. There is no reason to call religion wrong, or trashing other people's beliefs now is there? There is no wrong here, only a different point of view.

hmm.. difficult question.

I believe that there is a heaven and a hell. But i believe you hafta try really hard to get to hell.Unlike some christians, i don't believe that "just because you don't believe in God you automatically go to hell". That's stupid. There are so many good people out there that just... don't see the point in believing in the Christian religion, mainly because the most well known Christians nearby are total hypocrites.

But off the rant topic. I believe you are sent to heaven when you die and then reincarnated until you learn a certain lesson. Sometimes there are a few you need to learn in a single lifetime, sometimes only one major lesson is learned. When you're sent back down, you forget all previous lessons, but the knowledge comes back to you as time goes on, allowing you to find your place again and keep on learning. Once you're done going through the life school, you become an angel and get to stay in heaven with God (or whoever you think is going to be up there) and you get to laugh at all the people stuck here that are still learning and have no clue what the heck they're doing. At least that's what i would do... people are so amusing sometimes. ^_^

Why? My crusade is in full swing, lol.

Religion and I are on the opposite ends of the spectrum, I hate it with a burning passion, partly do to my childhood and to its ways. I can still hate a point of veiw, can't I?

What do you guys think about neardeath expierences and the scenarios people tell about? The light at the end of the tunnel, life flashing before your eyes, etc.

I like that one fire. Yes, that one is an interesting theory, and probably the most comforting, which is really all this is.

yes well I suppose you can hate a point of view. However, I think religion has some merit. It gives people hope doesn't it? Granted it also gives people excuses to do terrible things, but they're still just excuses and I think that they'd do them with or without religion. I like religion, mainly on a basis of the diversity of them all and yet the similarities are endless..it's all so interesting.

I would say the 'other' place is divided into many different levels, with hell and heaven on the two extreme ends... I doubt anyone would just go straight to heaven or to hell... I would assume there are sub-levels in between. But then, I'm not dead yet so don't take my word for it.

You know what i've noticed? I mean, i haven't been here very long, being only 15, but i've seen my share of crap and... if you look hard enough, Heaven and Hell are right here on earth. It's scary to think of what might happen, but how do you know it will be any different than what we're donig right now? I believe that the reason there is so much bad, is because someone out there wants to make sure we're sturdy enough to handle the good. Without extreme bad, how will you be able to appreciate and recognize the amazingly good that you read about in Faery Tales? How will we ever truely be able to count our blessings if we don't have the knowledge to recognize them for what they are? I lost my faith and found it again after trying to end life on this place. Obviously there is something still waiting for me, or else i wouldn't be here right? So i'm just kinda gonna stick it out and see if i can't find what's comin to me, whether it be bad or good.*shrugs* Can't please everyone, but heck if i ain't gonna be happy!~

To each his own. I believe in Heaven and Hell. I believe that whom you choose to (or not to) believe in detirmines your destiny to one or the other. Your actions reflect your beliefs. So you can tell who's who, if you know what you're looking for.
Is this really a topic to argue over? We can't get each other anywhere. It's all for him/her self! So like I said, to each his own. I'll look at you the same one way or the other. Just another human. (in most cases! LOL!) :)

I believe, that once you're dead, you're dead. Nothing more. Your life ends, and nothing more goes on. You lived your life, and that's it. There's no Hell, Heaven, "afterlife".. whatever.

Of course, this is probably different to what my religion says. :drunk:

I believe in heaven and hell, I believe in God, Jesus the eternal son and his ultimate sacrifice for our sins.
Evryone has a different view, I agree with those who believe religion is screwed up, since my faith in Jesus, is just that, it's a relationship with my God that's hard to describe, but the feelings I get from worship are not hype, since I generally don't like most worship. Whereas Religion is more of a rule set mentality an thus, I don't really believe the word "religion" sums up true christianity at all. or at least, that's my view on it. I do not harbour hatred against people of different views from me, or outright tell them they're going to hell. we're here as a people, why can't we just get along no?
