Follows Doukie-chans example and refuses to get into the whole yaoi/Shounen-ai argument.

Peoples opinions are they're own ne? we really cant change the way they think..so lets not argue about it ^_^

My dad sometimes watches Rurouni Kenshin and YYH with me and my sister because our only TV that has satellite was convieniently placed in his work-space. Now we get into fights becase he thins that Kurama and Kenshin look exactly the same! It is kinda embrrassing... especially when you talk about it in a restaurant where a lot of people can overhear you and you can tell that they can overhear you.

Not to get back into the whole yaoi argument, but I like your idea Milliefan, for a site. I'd make a site of my own, but hae a stupid Computer that won't let me. And parents tht won't let me.

My mom used to hate it when I watched anime.:bawl: When cartoon network started playing Inu Yasha my mom satdown and watched and ep. with me. She loved it and then started liking anime in general. About two weeks ago we went and saw Cowboy Bebop the movie. Now she wants to get the CB boxset.(Lucky me!):D So there is some hope. ja!

For those of you who have Chobits, here was a funny moment.

I was watching one of the episodes in Volume 2 where Hideki is dreaming that Yumi, Shimizu, and Hibisa were all wanting him and they are like "Do me..." and my dad is standing there watching it behind me. I was like "Er, he's just dreaming..." heh. It was pretty funny. But he never really said anything. ^_^

I got one whole friend to like anime! The other girl in our little group of three is like, Cheerleader-hair-obsessive-lil-miss-cool, so she thinks it's geeky and pretends she doesn't know us when we start talking about anime...

My parents just don't want me watching hentai. They also think Lain is depressing, but that's another story. So... yeah, my parents are pretty lenient.

Ah yes, I hate it when that happens. But you just have to know that they are the ones being ignorant and that they are missing out. :) I have some people I know who think it's all like Digimon or Sailor Moon. I truly think there is an anime series out there for everyone, but some people...heh.

The nice thing 'bout my family is that they are really pro-anime. My parents have grown to like it and even enjoy taking me to cons. The only people that are really anti-anime that I know are the jocks at my school. Then again, that's a story in itself. Oh and to a few guys and girls here who said watching anime could be considered childish, I know a person who is in her twenties that likes it. So to all of you, don't feel bad and keep on enjoying it. ;) There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a deep involvement in something you enjoy.

my parents don't care much about it unless they see the little 'adult swim' icon when im watching cartoon network...that can get bad...but otherwise they're pretty cool about it. (they haven't of yet found me watching my dvds...I'm wondering how they'll handle the uncut stuff)

Dude, my parents are exactly like that, only its my mom who's totally clueless on what I watch. My parents think its cute that I still watch cartoons. It pisses me off when they think about it like that, but oh well.

Yeah, I hate how some of the guys in my h.s. think anime is pokemon and cartoon porn. There ignorant bunch of mo'fos.

I think it's so funny when the parents freak out over the mature themes in anime. As the adult, they should be the one to understand it when in fact, the children are the ones who are learning from it. I personally think that watching anime with deeper meanings teaches you to look at life in a different view, and when parents take that away from you, they could be hurting you overall.

Now, who's to say a good novel wont do the same thing? I love reading and anime. ^_^

Well... my father has learned to except the facts that im watching japanese and english anime, but to repeat the contrary of many her... my mother just doesnt "approve" that it might sound a bit harsh, but each time i have a figt or when she sees me watching that stuff she starts yelling at me, so i ussually watch anime when she rests lol... she knows i watch it, im just getting away from argument...

anyway, my father really excepts it, he thinks its childish but well i presume he doesnt really care, hes ussually the one ending up being yelled at my mother for letting me keep watching it...
i think if our parents would one time see those animes, the good ones that is... they might think different. i mean i have seen more Real life and mature animes than Real life and mature shows with reall actors, anime is mor fiction and well its "Painted" (*said with horror) but still i think it shows more of the reallity than most of the shows my parents watch (my father, since my mother doesnt watch tv except news...)

Well, my parents have always been sorta neutral about it. Well, my father has been, anyways. My mother... not so much. We're Chinese, and my mother's family still carries quite a bit of bitterness about the Japanese occupation of China during World War 2, and that bitterness has sort of evolved into a distaste for most things Japanese. She doesn't actively oppose it, she just wonders what I see in it. I have noticed that my parents now sometimes stay up to watch Inuyasha with me on the Cartoon Network though, haha! :D

except for my step mom that used to tell me watching anime was 'childish', then she watched the Evangelion movie. -__-; And I was sort of baned from anime until I moved out.
Just a question, because i've never seen the Eva movie X_x why did she ban you?..I mean, i've heard things about the movie..but was it *that* bad that she banned you from watching it?! *twitches and wonders if she should continue to persuade her mum to buy it for her* X___x

I hope i did that post-thingy by the way..i hate being new to things O_o

To quote someone, just click the button at the bottom of their post. It does the tags for you automatically.

End of Evangelion has alot of mature themes and it is very deep. The fact that her mother got so mad doesn't surprise me, but I think completely banning her from anime is a bit overboard. If you parents already let you watch it and don't mind, they wont mind this either. I wish people would quit painting the picture that EoE is just the most evil movie ever....because it's NOT that bad.

My parents make fun of me occasionally but not really too much. They don't really see it as childish, it's just that I love it so much, I'm an easy target. But they're pretty open minded about this kind of stuff.
