Shinken
I was sitting on the bus this morning, and I heard some things that I will never forget on the radio... These are ALL True news stories 1)In Manila, near the Philipines, a young man commited suicide last week by leaping into the city's resovoir. But what is baffling the local police is just why he hasn't come up yet. Apparently, the kid's body is somehow STUCK to the bottom, and they haven't been able to get it out yet. And it's been a week. Now, let's not forget that this resovoir supplies water for the entire town, and the local government is saying that it is SAFE TO DRINK THE WATER!!! With a dead guy at the bottom! I'm just waiting to hear a report about someone finding a toenail in their water glass or something like that! 2) As we all know, during the war with Iraq, many of our soldiers were captured, and the Iraqis tried to extract info out of them. Well, we did the same thing, but there's one difference; It worked for us. And exactly how did we do it? We 'tortured' them by forcing them to listen to such music as Metallica's "Sandman", "Bodies" by Drowning Pool, and, get this, the themes to BARNEY and SESAME STREET! Now, if it was me, I'd thank 'em for the rock music, but it is understandable that they broke after a few hours of lovey-dovey... STUFF. And last but not least; Number 3) In some US state (not sure which), there was a 4-year old girl and her grandmother sitting in a restaraunt, eating ice cream. The grandmother got up to throw away a half-eaten ice cream and accidentally bumped into an 18-year old woman, spilling ice cream onto the woman. This apparently enraged the woman, causing her to begin screaming and swearing at the grandmother and child. Then, after a few moments of obscenities, she PUMMELED the grandmother and 4-year old kid! Not slapped, not scratched, but PUMMELED AN OLD LADY AND A TODDLER! What kind of sick **** would do that?!!! After some patrons managed to wrestle her off of the two victims, the 18-yr old made an escape, drove off in her car, and was arrested later the same day. I found these stories somewhat sad yet entertaining/hilarious. What do you think? Hitokiri Battosai

Epitome
Thats pretty astonishing, especially the first one. I cant believe they would safe to drink. And the third one, I cant believe someone would do that from such a simple mistake. I fell sorry for that girl too because of what she had to see and go through. Corey
Well I'd drink the water. They probably said it was safe because it passes through some sort of filtration/purification system before it goes into the houses. I find the first two extremely entertaining. The last? Kind of sad.
Guest visser 3
Yeah you are right bout that but still i wouldnt drink it knowing that a dead body was in your supply of water thats crazy.
Sara
I (unfortunately) know a lot of things that go into Lake Michigan. Dead people? I don't doubt it. Raw sewage? Uh huh. It was a big deal last summer. I found a dead dog washed up on shore once. There was a cryptosporidium outbreak here when I was eight, and all the drinking fountains were taped off. We had to boil our water all the time before using it...but I can't remember taking that precaution at any other time. They close down the beach most of the summer because the e coli count is too high, too. I still drink the water. The alternative being, oh....digging my own freakin' well.
Epitome
Poor dog. But anyways I still wouldnt drink it even if it was purified I mean, theres a dead body in the water, a corpse. That so disgusting.
Semjaza
You can't even swim in Lake Michigan without running into some sort of garbage. I can't remember how many times I'd come out of the lake with a newspaper stuck to me or one of those 6-pack holders. You get water from the tap... it doesn't matter. All water was probably floating past a thousand dead things before it went to a filtration plant. That kid is probably being sucked into some sort of drain, and they can't get him out because of the pressure. It's happened in pools before. Otherwise, I'm not really surprised or amused by any of these things. You hear stuff like this almost daily on the news. They've also been doing that loud music thing to drive people out for a long time now too. The volume they play that stuff at would drive anyone nuts, and you have to remember that they aren't exactly into the same music on a whole thanks to the cultural differences. Guest Crimson Spider
The first one doesn't suprise me how stupid the government is. The second one is amusing that what we call entertainment is torture to them. And showing the brilliance of the government. The third one is pretty much what I expected. In my old neighborhood, people were all like that. Only out for themselves at anyones expense. And usually mad with anger when caught doing something they aren't supposed to and don't even get a slap on the wrist, unless I pummel them. Then I get in trouble and they don't care that he had kicked a soccer ball into my face, breaking my glasses for the third time. I kinda have the same problem as that women. I myself, for no apparent reason sometimes, just all-of-a-sudden have a extream violent outburst of anger. That is usually when I kick peoples butts because normally I am to weak to do so but when I start seeing red, my strength triples. But I would hit a todler and an old lady. I live with a stubborn hag myself and that is howcome I am so patient. Then just all of a sudden...
Shinken
I didn't really find the third one that funny except for the way the radio announcer put it and reacted to it. It is very sad, and I do feel sorry for the two of them. I don't want to sound like I'm some kind of monster; I don't find their situation funny at all. It's just the way the radio guy made it sound. Transtic Nerve
I heard of two of these stories just by watching the evening news and listening to the radio... so I really don't see a point here. I mean, if you want to know news stories, watch the news... no need to post it here... Unless peopel want to talk about how dumb people are in general, but thats pretty much every thread here. So yeah... Other than that, a dead guy sitting in water will not harm you if you drink it. Just like it won't harm you if you eat someone.... It'll probably be more nutrious for you. lol. Hitokiri Battosai
Sad to say, but some of those third world countries dont care. Like there is this one lake in India that people bathe in and others pollute and use as a toilet, and is filled with garbage, and muck, yet it is still the leading water supply. My social studies class watched a movie on it.
WW2
Leaving dead bodies in water resovoirs?! Torturing POWs with music from PBS?! Beating the hell out of old women and toddlers?! What the hell's going on in this world?! These incidents clearly show the sad state humanity is in.

Sara
Yeah. *gasp* Color! Hehe. Beaches. Seriously, though...Even when the beach is closed here, with a sign announcing that going in the water is a health risk, you see people down there. Not that I was ever one of them. *cough* Eh, I mostly go beachcoming anyway...

Anyway you're right, a dead body won?t do much. Or at least until it starts decomposing, which underwater at a controlled low temperature could be quite a while. Besides anything that was bad would be so dissipated by the large body of water that it shouldn't matter much. Then again, they should get the body out some day...
