Friendship

In my Creative Writing class we have to write a 7 page report on an abstract word for our final exam. I have chosen the word "friendship". Just as a help to me and for discussion, I have a question to you all.

What does friendship mean to you? Like what is your definition of friendship?

My definition of friendship, thats a tough one actually. Friendship to me is a bond between two people that lets them act in a good way towards each other. A friend to me would help me up when Im down, back me up in a fight or something. You know what Im saying.

*closes eyes and rocks back and forth, muttering*

Eh, sorry. This is just a little too similar to the scholarship essays I've been writing.

I guess I define friends...loosely..as people you can laugh with. There's some sort of comradery there.

I suppose Mitch will grace us with the dictionary definition.

A 'special' bond between two or more people formed because of their similarities in interests, hobbies, etc. This is not always the case since some people are complete opposites and can still be friends.

Friendship is to me an emotional bond between people. You find people that share the same interest, by hanging out together you begin to accept each other.
Thus, your friends are the people you care for, share an emotional link with. They are people who you come to rely on if you need support.

But thats just my opinion.:D

Friendship to me, is someone who will forgive you, time and time again when you disagree on something. It is something much deeper than the person you sit next to in school, and who will forget you over the summer. Friendship means that even when you're in the worst situation possible, that your friend will stick beside you through it all. You laugh with friends, you cry with friends, you triumph and fail with friends, and even though they have seen through every guise, and witnessed your worst mistakes, they still accept you for who you are. Friendship is the thing that keeps a person going, making them live and thrive and succeed. It is their light in a dark place, the saviour for the sinners.

Friendship can never be truely explained. It has to be felt instead . . . you have to touch it, taste it, live it.

That's what friendship is to me.

Friendship is something vital to everyone, (except the loners in anime. lol.) and sometimes it's hard to find. To tell the truth, I only have one friend when I think about it. And by reading Sere's definition of it, I don't have any! ::cries::
Well, I've always been a loner, mostly, but friendship is something I love, and I hope I can truly experience it someday.

Oh, come on AG (I prefer to use older names, gomen) you can't tell me that there's not at least one person that you're just like, glued to the hip with! Because if you tell me that you have no friends --using my definition or not (although I thought that my definition was pretty broad) -- I shall have to sigh, shake my head, and deem you unfixable. ^_~

Everyone's got friends, but there's just different levels in friendship. Everyone's definition of friendship is right, but they all fall into different levels, some more casual than others. It depends on the individuals standards.

And yes, I have high standards. I just think that getting screwed over by someone who could be considered a friend is a pretty crappy thing.

So you have friends, I'm sure you do! ^_^

Friendship is the knowledge that there's someone there. When it's the middle of the night, and you're crying your eyes out, it's not so much the calling and talking -- it's the knowledge that you can call, and they won't mind.

It's knowing that they'll accept your opinions, and won't tell you you're wrong for believing them. It's also just knowing that they're your friend.

But there are other friendships too. The compeditive friendship -- the façade that you're friends, but the knowledge that you're always trying to beat the other.

And the school friendship -- you see each other at school, and smile and wave, and talk occasionally, but you'd never accept each other on a social level.

I think, really, the type of friendships depend on the people. Some people have no trouble with the first friendship, because they're open about themselves. Others prefer the second because they have a compeditive streak. It just goes that way. There are other friendships, of course. There are just too amny types to define. ^_^ I like that.

friendship doesn't last forever.
or maybe they weren't friendships at all.. they were illusions O_o

well after being rejected from a few, letting go of some and allowing some to fade away.. i've just ended up with people I know.

I know, it's a lovely world.

Friend=family. That's all there is to it. You'd sacrifice for them, you'd forgive them for anything, you will love them to the end.

That's what a true friend is. Eventually, you discover they are diamonds in the rough... few and far between.

Just like Lady Macaiodh said, friendship equals family to me. A friend is a person or a group of people that are loyal to eachother. No matter how you look, how bad you feel, or if the two of you just got in a fight, they will still care for eachother no matter what. This is what I think friendship means.

Someone I can trust, I can tell them anything, they'll listen.. they'll be there if I really need them.

Though someone can't be a friend to you, if you're not a friend to them. So. Pretty much, if I'm a good friend to someone, and they're a friend to me, then that's a friend. They'll do almost, if not always, anything to help you.

Note your name.

Friendship is what you make it. For some it could be someone to just have fun with. Others tight relationships with people you'd die for. I hope in my own I lead more toward the second, but I'd have to think I (as in most relationships nowadays [did I just say nowadays?]) leans more toward the first. I also believe the older you get the more you lean toward the second, but that may be because you label less people "friend".

It seems really strong, I mean, the feeling, of course. I come from a country where that word has to be used only if you truly are that to someone else. A freiend, hmm... ...Well, let's see, this is just me, so I'll be honest as to what I think of it.

To be a friend, you must be faithful, loyal, kind, caring, and trustworthy. I trust some of my friends more than others, so it kinda throws me off. I would like to be friends with everyone, but that could never happen, because as much as I hate to admit to this, there are awlays, and forever will be hateful people in this damned world... ...But, in spite of it, I send you peace!!
