Eddie Winslow
I figure this board needs some way of helping people combat decks. A man once said that the greatest compliment you can give a man is to create a deck specificly to beat his. Then he took me down in the second turn. Anyway I'm having a problem beating one of my friends decks. It's a life gaining deck and he frequently gets over 15,000 life. It's small so he decks easily. He uses life gaining cards like Cure Mermaid, Dancing Fairy, Solemn Wishes, and Delay cards like Gravity Bind, Dark Door, Ekibyo Drakmord, ect. He has all the staples (Dark Hole, Monster Reborn, ect.) And he uses Burning Land to damage his opponets while he sits back doing nothing hiding behind a Gravity Bind, three Giant Soldier of Stones and Two Cure Mermaids. I need some help people please
Yami Bakura
Get some staples yourself Like Raigeki and Heavy storm the new harpies feather duster would go perfect but then again Griffon wings are gonna start spredding like a wild fire.
Epitome
Also try getting some life gaining cards yourself. Like Don Kieto the Cure Master and even some of the cards that he has. Then it will make it harder for him to kill you, he might run out of cards.
AzureWolf
A life-gaining deck is normally supposed to be comparatively large (around 55 cards), so you can deck-out your opponent. It's not supposed to deck you out, haha. In any case, if he wants a small, life-gaining deck, he should also put draw and discard cards in, such as white magical hat, bistro butcher, and card destruction. Also, if he wants a truly original stall, and one that will be annoying to anyone if played right, he should put in DNA Surgery and Dragon Capture Jar for his dancing fairies ;) . This combo was created by the great duelist 1st_Millenium (aka Neo Maverick). :lecture:
Guest visser 3
Do exactly the same thing he does. Except also have cards that might negate the effect of his gravity bind. Also have attack monsters so you can beat him.
Guest pharaohyami5000
Watch out for Fiber Jar, though. Now that Plant-Type monster's out, discard decks will be difficult to use.
Masterdramon
I just realized that the what may be the best way to defeat the guy is Ouija Board (or Exodia, but in this case, the time limit to stop you will help, considering how slow your opponent's deck seems). Ben
I would try lots of counter cards. I.e. Magic Jammer, Seven Tools of the Bandit. And things like simple De-Spell and Remove Trap cards for his continuous things like Dark Door and Gravity Bind. From what you've said he uses several four star monsters as well. Toss in a Four-Starred Ladybug of Doom or two to destroy them. Another thing you might try is Soul Exchange. Sacrifice one of his monsters to bring out one of your strong ones and attack the following turn.
G/S/B Master
Hahahaha, suprisingly, just get remove trap and destroy his Gravity bind. Get Harpies Feather dusters, Mystical Space Typhoons, and Heavy storms to dismantale his M/Ts. Destroy his monsters with Rageki, Dark Holes. And while you're at it, use direct attack cards like Amazon archer, Lady Fleem of Assailant, and Tremendous fire. Don't be afraid to use cards like Wingweaver and Blue eyes White Dragon. Imp
Another surefire thing is to have Bad Reaction to Simochi in your deck. That way, instead of gaining life points all the time, your opponent will lose a lot of life points instead! :demon: And, anyway, you've given Eddie a lot of good tips, and this thread isn't just about him, right? I've been recently thinking about some ways to counter the decks of some duelists you see on the TV show... For example: Name: Strings Strategy: Has a lot of slime cards, and some Jam Breeding Machines. He has Muka Muka and Card Destruction, a great combo. And watch out for his Egyptian God Card!!! How to beat him: Just keep attacking his Slime Tokens that appear every turn in Attack Mode. That'll eventually bring his life points down to 0. Name: Odion Strategy: His deck consists of mostly trap cards, especially the deadly ones. How to beat him: Be careful when attacking. Use Harpie's Feather Duster and Heavy Storm to destroy his traps (unless he has a Magic Jammer!). An even better strategy is to summon Jinzo. That way, his traps can't be activated! In the GBA game (WWE), I beat him 3 times in a row by using Jinzo. Name: Weevil Strategy: Uses mostly insect monsters. He has lots of effect monsters, like Man-Eater Bugs and Needle Worms. He also has stronger effect monsters such as Great Moth and Insect Queen. How to beat him: Use Raigeki or Dark Hole to destroy Insect Queen, is he summons one. Be careful when attacking. Some of those insect monsters can be tricky! Name: Arkana Strategy: Has a lot of weak monsters, but has a Dark Magician waiting. How to beat him: Destroy all his monsters as they come. That way, his Dark Magician can never appear on the field. Watch out for his traps! Name: Mako Tsunami Strategy: He is a fan of Umi and Torrential Tribute and can often launch direct attacks. How to beat him: Assume that his trap cards are Torrential Tributes or Tornado Walls. Have a lot of Negate Attack cards ready for those direct attacks. Name: Rex Raptor Strategy: Head-on attacks. He also has a Raigeki card, so watch out! How to beat him: Confuse him with magic cards, and throw in a Dark Hole. If possible, just summon strong monsters. Name: Rare Hunter Strategy: Rare Hunter has Exodia in his deck, and lots of ways to draw it. He has Jars of Greed, Graceful Charity cards, Sangans, Skelengels, etc. How to beat him: Use Card Destruction after destroying a couple Sangans he plays. Just to be safe, play Banisher of the Light before you play Card Destruction. You can also use a Cyber Jar to make him place Exodia cards on the field, then destroy them. Use Magic Jammers to deactivate Graceful Charity. Or use Lightforce Sword, like Yugi did. Name: Bakura Strategy: Likes to play Magic cards face-down, such as Mystical Space Typhoon and Black Pendant. He's a fan of Gravekeeper's Servant. How to beat him: Have plenty of Mystical Space Typhoons. Name: Seto Kaiba Strategy: Likes to finish duels quickly with powerful monsters. Also has a Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon and a Egyptian God Card. How to Beat Him: Have a lot of Magic cards such as Change of Heart and Raigeki in your deck. Trap cards like Torrential Tribute and Effect monsters like Man-Eater Bug (and Penguin Soldier, for his B. E. U. Dragon!) are also effective. And, HAVE A BUSTER BLADER IN YOUR DECK!!! It'll be perfect against a Blue Eyes! Name: Mokuba Strategy: Throws weak monsters (such as Mystical Elf and Morphing Jar #2) in Attack mode. Wimp. How to beat him: Take out all of his weak monsters. Easy. Well, I'm off topic, but this was the right thread to post this in, so...
Marik_Duelist
one way to beat a life giving deck is... a life giving deck!princess of tsurugi is good, inflicts 500 points direct damage to opponents life force for every magic/trap card he/she has on field. dark hole, fissure, despell, ultimite offering, marie the fallen one(if sent to your graveyard this card will rise your life points by 200 during each of your standby phases), lady assailent of flames, cure mermaid, card destruction, giant trunade, dian keto the cure master,

...You mean Destiny Board. Yep, that will be a great thing to use against a life point-gaining deck. Just make sure that when you activate it, you don't have any other Magic/Trap cards on the field. I've seen plenty of foolish duelists making that mistake. PWNED
Try to use Cards that remove traps, magic cards and also throw in a rageki. Another tip is to use cards that let you attack an enemys life points automatically as well as cards that make your monsters more powerful. Solo Tremaine
One card that would be very useful against him now is going to be released in the Pharonic Guardians set- Lava Golem. He has 3000 ATK, and can only be Special Summoned to your opponent's side of the field by sacrificing two of your opponent's monsters. It does 1000 Direct Damage to its controller during each of their Standby Phases. Couple that with Magic Cylinder, you could be giving 4000 Damage in one turn.
