Does anyone know what the title of the awful screeching music was that FUNi put on halfway throiught the series ofd DBZ? I know is wasn't rock the dragon all the way through, they put another lame track on after Frieza I think. tha is, by far, the worst track, It makes the go ninjs go type DBGT rap look good.
You talkin about that theme that originally began as background music(the first time it was played if I'm not mistaken was at the end of one of the Frieza saga episodes when Gohan was goin balistic on Frieza)and then became the actual theme for DBZ somewhere towards the end of the Frieza saga and beginning of the Garlic Jr. saga. That was some music by Bruce Faulconer(I dont think there was actually a name for that song though. Just "Opening" or somethin.)

And speakin of Faulconer, rumor has it that he will be doin the bg music for DBGT and he's also in negotiations of doin music for the live action DBZ movie(atleast he's beggin us to sign a petition for him to do the music of the live action movie). *shrugs*

Ugh God no! -_- Bruce Faulconer did a terrible job with the second half of DBZ and it's background music as it is. Funi should just leave in the original BG music for DBGT it's much better then trying to put in music that is out of place or more 80's rap *rolls eyes*.

I was comparing GT to Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic, and Digimon not because of product similarities (of which there are none), but because they had the same goal: Sell a product. Of course, that doesn't automaticly make it bad (Look at classics like Transformers), but it doesn't do it much credit.

I don't think I'll enjoy DBGT much. I don't even really like Dragonball Z all that much.

Damn.

*coughs really loud*

I liked Rock The Dragon. =p
And the second opening music that they put on. The one without any words. Just a guitar type thing.
The one I didn't like, was the one they ended DBZ with: The 'Dragon, Dragonball' one. That one was yucky, and I had to wash my hands after listening to it at the beginning of every episode >.>

Anyways, my questions:
-Is there any reason they're not airing DB here in the UK?
-Why does Dr Myuu look like Dr Gero?
-Why old old skool rap?

1. They're supposed to be airing DB there, just not the Ocean version. They're supposed to be airing the Funi version from what I've heard. If not then...well, I dont even know.

2. *shrugs*
Dr. Myuu and Dr. Gero get together somewhere in the show anyway with their 2 Jinzouningen 17's,
so I guess you could say Dr. Myuu is the future version of Dr. Gero. *shrugs* I dont know why they made him look like that.

3. Thats Funi for ya. lol

The Thirty something year old dudes in the FUNi head office probably still think it's the "in thing" -_-

Music moves in and out of popularity more faster every passing decade, So in a way I'm not being tounge in cheek, yet in a way, I am.

Man, I just saw some disturbin stuff. If you go to the official Dragonball GT website (http://www.dragonballgt.com ), you'll notice that they made a HUGE mistake. If you go to characters and then click on Goten's name, if you look at his pics, it'll have Goku Jr. pics there(aswell as 1 grown Goten pic). So that pretty much means to me that they're gonna rename Goku Jr. to be Goten...the 3rd or whatever. Hopefully its just a mess up on the actual page and they dont mess it up on the show. Eh, we'll see what happens.

Well I got news for ya kiddies. My freind beleives in watching FUNi's dub through a certain site that is known for distributing episodes illegally for download. He has seen Episodes 17(For the moment Episode 1) of GT, and they did Keep the lovely "Dan Dan Kokoro Hikerete'ku" in Japanese. "Step ino the Grand Tour" will only be heard by those who want to hear it on the DVDs.

Fortunately, they seem to have corrected this error, but there are many others on the site, for example, It says that Pan flies off into space with Goku and Giru, who the hell is Giru! Is that not Trunks they fly into space with?

One thing I do like is the way they've remade the GT logo to make it look cooler, please, oh please, scrap that godawful "step into the grand tour" crap before it's too late!

Well, looks like its that time for me to finally post a review on the first Funimation DBZ tape which I just purchased today from Wal-Mart(actually, I got 2 tapes for only $9.99 a piece. Pretty good deal if you ask me. ^_^)

Well, I'm currently lookin at the first tape again, and I must say, I am highly impressed wit these dubs so far. I hate to say it so soon, but I'd have to say that they're dubbin this better than DBZ. The voices fit the characters lovely. Giru's voice sounds almost identical to his Japanese voice, Rirudo's voice sounds MUCH better in english than it did in Japanese, Bebi's voice sounds sadistic as hell! I love his dub voice, especially when he says "Sai...ya....Jin". He says Saiyan at first, but then he says "Sai...yan....jiiiiiiiiiiiin." Its awesome. Goku sounds alot like Gohan(well, obviously since its the same VA), Goten's voice sounds pretty decent, Pan's voice sounds almost identical to her Japanese voice(not exactly, but somewhat close), Trunks has the same voice as Mirai No Trunks in the Cell Saga, Pilaf and his peeps still sound the same, and so does Popo, Dende, Gohan, Chichi, Bulma, Ubuu, and everyone else. Grown Goku also sounds the same aswell. The only voice that I've heard that I dont like too much is Dr. Myuu's, but hey, he does sound like a geek like most scientists. lol

Okay, now wit the flaw...which I must say is the only flaw that I've noticed, and thats that they skipped the first few eps. They did show a clip from the very first episode though, but it was somewhat as a flashback. What had happened was they began wit the ep where Goku, Pan, and Trunks were on M2 and they were fighting them robots, Goku and Trunks had gotten captured and gas came out of the robot and was about to put Trunks and Goku to sleep. And then Goku says "And all this...because of one...selfish..wish.", and then it went back to the very first ep where Goku was wished back to a kid. They also showed a flashback as to when Pan got involved on the ship, how they found Giru, and all that other good stuff. They pretty much turned the first few eps into flashbacks. So basically, they pretty much caught everyone up on everything that went down before they started lookin for the Dragonballs, so no one would be lost. But I bet that they'll show those missing eps on Toonami. If they dont, then this will be one very short series(as if it already isnt is.)

Now, back to the good stuff. The bg music is pretty hot. It doesnt sound like anything Faulconer would do. Sounds MUCH better. Done by some kat named Mark Menza(who I just realized did the music to the past 2 DBZ movies. I also bought DBZ Movie 7 today, and I'm watchin that now before I go to bed, and the intro to it sounds pretty hot. ^_^). But the music is really awesome. As a matter of fact, the music sounds a bit better than the Japanese version.

And now about the opening. As I posted, and it is true, the opening is "Step Into The Grand Tour"...BUT, the way they did it was pretty hot. They made their own intro usin clips from the series. I love the way they had Goten as an SSJ power up at the very beginning of it. And they FINALLY put me(Super Juunanagou)in an intro. Also, SSJ4 Goku and SSJ4 Vegeta are in the intro aswell as Bebi, Li Shenron, and a good bit of the other peeps in DBGT. But the intro is pretty hot.

The ending is also different. No "Dont You See" or none of that. Its their own ending showing clips of DBGT, with the instrumental of "Step Into The Grand Tour" playing int he background. No fighting in the ending, but just the guys stairing at stuff, like Goku and Vegeta standing side by side, Goku looking down as an SSJ(you know, where you cant see his eyes), Dr. Myuu standing there looking at you, SSJ4 Gogeta sitting down looking at the death ball coming towards him, Bebi in Oozaru format staring at you, Ubuu looking at hte Death ball coming down, and then the sun going down(okay, I just gave away the entire ending sequence. lol)

But to cut this short, all in all, the dub of DBGT so far is pretty hot. Only flaws I saw was the skipping of those few episodes, and Dr. Myuu's voice, but in my view, those are only tiny flaws. The episode thing they'll probably fix on Toonami, but who knows. But regardless, the dubbing of DBGT is awesome so far, and is definetly worth for you to pick up a copy of the VHS(DVD if you want it, but I doubt they'll catch you up in the Japanese version like they did in the dub since obviously, they didnt do that in the *** version. ^_^). But its definetly worth watchin. I cant wait until the next tape comes out.

And thats my review on the Funi DBGT dub so far. I'm out to finish watchin the dub of DBZ Movie 7: Super Android 13!. Well, Peace!

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to add, they do call the Dragonballs the "Black Star Dragonballs" just like it was in Japanese. ^_^

Wait, I guess I was wrong... we got it different, lol.

Our beginning doesn't show SSJ4 Goku, or Vegeta in any of it o_O

And I've been thinking recently...'Step Into The Grand Tour'.. maybe that isn't the intro music on ours?
Our song starts off with 'In another time and place/Scattered all over space/We've got to find them all/Gotta find those dragonballs'
So is that the music you guys got?

And uh.. our ending shows moving pictures of Trunks, Pan, Goku, and Gil.

Yeah, and we got the first episodes included too ^_^

I'm guessin that yall got the "Blue Water" dub(if you're watchin it on CNX anyway. I'm guessin you live in the UK or Canada or some place like that.) Yeah, I heard that they're pretty much finished wit the series as it is. Plus, their voices and openings and endings are completly different from ours. About like DBZ was(they had different endings and beginnings aswell. And lets not talk about the voices. lol)

But yeah, thats probably what it is. Yall got the Blue Water dub. Funi's version hasnt been released on TV yet(wont be until this fall from what I heard. We gotta stick to buyin the tapes and DVD's until then. I'mma be buyin tapes anyway since I already have all of the Japanese eps on tape as it is, so theres really no need in gettin the DVDs).

I don't really know if i am alowed to post this but i needed to know somthing.... Is this what is on the DVD it think it is since it has all the rap music in the back i downloaded it because i wanted to hear the dubbed voices. Goku sounds like Gohan, Trunks sounds just like future Trunks so that good and Pan sounds nothing like i imagined she needs a more kid voice.

Well, the dub voices would be dead on then, since
Goku is wished to be a child, Trunks has aged to the same age as Mirai no Trunks, and Pan is supposed to be a tough 12 year old.
Either way, ya should have bought subs ^_^

Sure they do.

Gokou, Gohan, and Goten's last name is Son.

I dunno about anyone elses... frankly the series doesn't call much for any last names. They never use them, but because it's Japanese culture and last names are commonly used as a "first name" many people's name (ie Yamucha) maybe actually be their last name. The same reason Bulma continues to refer to Gokou as Son Gokou or Son during DragonBall, for it is his last name.
