Guest kraken
i recently watched the Inuyasha episode entitled "the terror of the ancient noh mask" and the mask said it was made from a tree with a jewel shard in it many year ago. HOW CAN THAT BE? the shikon jewel was just recently shattered by kagomes arrow.do the events in inuyasha's world affect kagomes world. if they do, shouldnt there be a hell of a lot more changes caused by kagome constantly going back there? please help before these questions cause my brain to explode
Dan Rugh
This is called a plot hole, my friends.
Kent
No actually it is a time travel belief in which you find one timeline does not affect another. Sorta like what they use in dragonball z. In inuyasha, it boils down to 2 time lines. timeline A. Kagome's original timeline. Timeline B. Inuyasha's timeline. When Kagome traveled to inuyahsa's timeline, it only affected his timeline, not hers since the two timelines are not connected. Think of it like 2 identical trains running on different tracks that look the same. (when you do that, you can realize that when one train turns, the other doesnt have to turn with it... they are on seperate tracks.) Thats about the best I can do in explaining this. WW2
There is a perfectly good explanation for this: MMMAAAGGGIIICCCC! :D Just kidding, it is just one of many plot holes that can be found in anime.
Kwai
Another good example of a plot hole is that the calender on the wall in Misato's apartment in Evangelion is from the year 1996 or something :p Anime freaks search for these plot holes with vengeance and obsession -_-
Osmosis
I think it's one of those Grandfather Paradox type things. Kagome's shattering of the Shikon no Tama means that the Shikon no Tama was originally shattered in her own time as well. The Noh Mask was carved from a tree that had a Shikon shard embedded in it. Then Kagome retrieves the shard from the Noh mask back in her own time, thereby enabling the completion of the Shikon no Tama in the feudal era. Basically for all intents and purposes that particular Shikon shard never really went missing because it was retrieved so soon by Kagome. It's enough to make anybody's head hurt just thinking about it.:drunk: The other part about Kagome's actions in the feudal era causing changes in her own timeline is also part of that whole time travel theory that everything was actually supposed to be that way because she was supposed to effect changes. Essentially- A causes B which causes A. Some kinda wierd loop thing.:whoops:
Arkadyz
When it comes to time travel I have only one bit of advice...Suspend belief...really... Cause if you start really thinking about time travel and all the effects and what ifs your brain will probably quite literally explode...This question is proof of the for me...owww my head... :nervous: :p
vegeta rocker
well it's obvious, the shard was embedded in the past and stayed thus until the present. And if i understand you right gokents, you are saying her timeline wasn't affected. But how can that be if the mask in kagomes time had the shard. Obviously they are connected. If i remember right (this If is open to discussion) the mask awoke because it sensed the shards nearby when kagome had them. But it has been awhile since i have seen this episode so that part may be wrong. But i am sure the time streams are connected.
XxmagentaxX
Ok Ok I think that I might be able to semi-explain it... Ok since Kagome is the reincarnation of Kikyo, her future was in the past...like its her destiny and stuff.... and since she travels back and forth through the well the past and present are connected and her going , makes what she does when she goes through the well like what actually happened in the past.... So she is technically just changing the past... its that simple!
InuyashaDeamon
I think its a other plot hole. But My belives in time travel is that when you travel back in time you might travel to a parrel(sp?) dimesion. This causing the events in that dimension to changs as your own dimension stays the same as in DBZ with Future Trunks.
XxmagentaxX
Why are all of you trying to like analyze all this? Its just simple... she goes back it changes the past... theres not much to it... rumiko keeps her stories very obvious and simple... so you dont have to think that hard about them, you just it
RPGchick
This is easy, because kagome had not aquired the jewel yet in the past, the mask was carved. if kagome had retrieved the jewel before, the mask would not have had the jewel in it. so, basically, the two timelines ARE changing according to what kagome does in the past, if that makes any sense... XxmagentaxX
I thought that I already said that.....
RPGchick
you probly did, but all of the explinations were confusing me...
klinanime1
Huh? Well, I think it's a plot hole, since the box was already covered in those spell-things. (The strips of paper? Not really into Shinto, or whatever the religion is.) Unless, because Kagome shattered the jewel in the past, it performed complications in the near future, so that means that her ancestors were already having trouble with the mask... Aaah! I'm confused. *~*
Guest KyoRei
Kagomes world is like the future to feudal Japan, right? So if she shattered the jewel in feudal Japan, it would be shattered in the future as well. So... somewhere between the two times the tree with the shard was carved into a mask and was then sealed away until Kagomes time and was then awakened by the shards. XxmagentaxX
Why are you guys trying to complicate it so much? As I said before dont think about it so much, its meant to be kept simple...
Guest KyoRei
I'm not trying to complicate it, but I didn't really have to think about the answer, so it didn't seem complicted to me. 0.o does anyone understand anything I say? I'm confusing myself, so I must confuse other people too!
Fyxe
I can understand what you're sayin'... i think that too. It just makes sence to me anyway!
