Corey
Voice- "We have done it Tjaden." Tjaden- "Done what sir?" Voice- "You know of what I speak. Our goal is almost complete." Tjaden- "Oh... Yes. Almost sir. Only a few more extractions." Voice- "Good." ~~~ Ryan- "Fifty dollars. It was the arranged payment. I have your goddamn name on the contract!" I held up a piece of legal documentation that had the mans name scrawled on the bottom of it. Man- "Listen. I don't have the money. I ran into some trouble at the tracks. I'll pay you next week along with a late fee." I folded the paper into my pocket and looked at him sternly. Ryan- "Do you have the money?" Man- "No..." I inhaled deeply. Ryan- "The contract you have with my employer has been infringed upon. Therefore, as you signed in the documentation, you have thirty days to pay the late fee of three hundred dollars plus what you owe or else face us in court." The man stared at me blankly. "Good day." I walked back to my van and loaded up my mower, my trimmers, and my weed eater. I closed the doors and jumped in. I hated to do that to people. It went against my usually calm mentality. however ever since Heather left... It has been quite a bit easier. Perhaps having your heart turned to stone can do that to a man. God did I need a drink... I picked up the reciever of my CB radio. Ryan- "Lawn Van One to home, copy?" Royce- "I hear ya Ryan." Ryan- "Mr Banderish has just been informed." Royce scowled into the mike. Royce- "Again? Sh!t... Were running out of customers. Whatever... We'll make due. Return to base. Over and out." I hung up my mike and put both hand back on the wheel. Getting drunk was starting to sound like a pretty good idea. ~~~ I woke to the sound of birds chirping outside of my window. What was odd is that I lived in the middle of the city, and the next house was about three feet away. Birds didn't usually hang around in my little walkway. I sat up with a start. This wasn't my house... Or my room. And I was sleeping on... a couch? Ryan- "What the hell..." I swung my legs off of the couch and tried to stand up. The world swam and I sat back down hard. "Uhhhhggg...." ??- "Whoa... Careful there. You had a lot to drink last night." Of course... A hangover... Wait a minute... Ryan- "Who are you?" The world swam again when I tried to look at her. All I could make out was that she was younger than me. Maya- "I'm Maya. You were saying some pretty intersting stuff last night. Decided to let you spend the night, seeing as you were piss drunk." I massaged my temples. Why did she take me into here home. I could have been a rapis... Ryan- "I didn't do anything... wrong, did I?" She shook her head slowly. I breathed a sigh of relief. Maya- "I did it because I knew you were a good person. And we have something in common." I began to rub my eyes. Ryan- "What?" I was beggining to get a migraine. Maya- "Well... Let's just say, I can read minds." I looked at her, seeing her for the first time, and gave her a small smile. She was quite beautiful. Shoulder length brown hair, blue eyes, and an athletic build. Nothing special, but still quite beautiful. Ryan- "And I can control them... Do you have any aspirin?"
Shikaku Kitoku
Rurori jumped to the next roof with barely an effort. He looked down at the little cabin in Northern Canada. It seemed so peaceful, he actually wanted to just sit there and admire it. But he had a job to do, and no matter what appealed to him, he had to get it done. That was his code, his honor, and his life. Taking a look down once more, he pulled out a poison tipped dart and threw a smoke bomb at the door. It let out a dark grey, wood smelling smoke upon impact, making his target run out the door. Without a second glance or thought Rurori let the dart fly. Instead of hitting the target in the jugular vein, the target caught it. Rurori- What? Target- Try harder next time Shikaku Kitoku. I thought I taught you well. Rurori unsheathed his katana and flipped off his perch. Moving his sword into the defensive position, he slowly inched his way towards his target. Rurori- Who are you? How do you know that name? Target- I gave it to you, you disrespectful grout! I thought I taught you to respect your elders! Youth- Rurori- IPPAI SON!?! IT CAN?T BE! I SAW YOU- Ippai Son- You saw what I wanted you to see. Now is not the time to talk. Come. Come inside. We will have tea, and talk about what has happened over the years. Rurori- Yes Master. Rurori sheathed his katana and put his shuriken back in their pouch. Walking behind his ?dead? Master, he went into the little hut and shut the door behind him.
TrickyNicky
Megan sat outside the Principal's office, looking round. The bell had gone for the students to go to their next class. She watched them pass, talking, laughing, one group of boys even tossing a football around. She looked up as the office door opened. Principal: Welcome, Miss Donaghue. Please come in. Megan got up and entered the office nervously. It had been difficult to get a job since she burned away the floor at her first teaching position. She looked around. The office was small and cosy, and there was a huge desk at the back. Principal: Please sit down. She handed him her documents and sat down as the Principal looked through them. Principal: So, you're applying for the position of our new Drama Teacher? Megan: Yes. The Principal looked through the files some more. Principal: So, Miss Donaghue, you're 21, and you've had a previous job in this line of - Um... am I right in saying that you almost set fire to your classroom during your time working as a Drama Teacher at Woodlands? Megan hesitated. She didn't know. She hadn't hads any matches at the time, and there was no way to explain what happened. The seconds ticked by like hours. The silence pounded on her ears like thunder. Eventually the Principal sighed. Principal: It's very important that all of our teachers are completely stable, emotionally, mentally, physically. Please explain your behavior. Megan remembered being told that when she was a child in another Principal's office, being told to "explain her behavior" but she couldn't lie this time. Simply because she couldn't think of a realistic lie that even her acting talents could pull off. After about a minute, both Megan and the Principle let out a cry as Megan's documents burst into flames. The Principal dropped the files, grabbed the extinguisher and sprayed wildly until the fire was gone, and they were both covered in foam. Principal: GET OUT BEFORE I CALL THE POLICE! Megan leapt to her feet and ran out the door, down the corridor (receiving a few odd looks from students) and out into the school grounds. Tears streaming down her face, she tried to brush the foam off her navy suit and walked home. When she arrived, she realised she'd lost her keys in the rush to get out of the school. She sat down on the front step. Megan: Useless... Useless...
Corey
OOC: Come on people. This isn't going to work unless people post. ~~~ The aspirin help very much. My migraine had dropped to nothing more than a slight pain behind my eyes. Maya lived in a small house on the outskirts of the city. It was medium sized and very homey. The morning, actually it was about noon, sun filtered into the rooms throught the windows. We had been talking for quite sometime. Maya- "So when did your powers first show up?" I smiled and looked at her eyes. Ryan- "Eighteenth birthday. I forced my parents to get me a house. You?" She smiled sheepishly. Maya- "Twenty. I 'read' my boyfriend at the time thinking about someone else in bed. I kneed him in his crotch." I winced and she laughed. Ryan- "That's very cruel. No man should have to endure that kind of pain." I smiled. Maya- "I think he deserved it. So. Any more power abuses? I certainly have. I absentmindedly read people minds every day. I once knew that my boss was going to fire me, so I dumped a cup of coffee on his 'to-do' pile. It was pretty funny." I smiled at her again and thought about my what I did to that girl in college. I really felt bad about it, and probably always will. "Coffee?" I nodded and she walked away. Ever since I had met Maya, the man Tjaden had been on my mind. Heather had been speaking about him before she left. He supposedly knew something about our abilities. "Cream?" I nodded. Ryan- "Yes please." She poured a fair amount of cream into the cup and came back. It was soothing and warm. Maya- "I don't mean to be rude, but do you know Tjaden too?" The coffee cup slipped from my hands and crashed onto the floor. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to read you, it's just that you were looking so serious!" She stooped down to begin cleaning up the broken cup. I slid my hand around her wrist and brought her backup to the couch. Ryan- "You know Tjaden?" She looked at me. Maya- "Yes... I thought all of us did?" I shook my head slowly. Ryan- "Do you know where he is?"
Sakura
Sakura walked around town looking around. Her stomach grumbled and she saw a very expensive restaurant. She smirked and made a path right for it. She walked in and up to the counter. Owner:Excuse me Miss.Do you have a reservation?! Sakura:No I don't.But I can still eat here. She willed. The man waved her into the main part of the restaurant and sat her down passing her a menu.Sakura ordered a large meal and ate it all and got up ready to leave. The spell had weared off and now the owner came to her demanding a large sum of $3250.Sakura smirked again and willed him to let her leave without paying a cent.It worked again and she walked out with a full stomach. She went around buying things from shops without any costs. Then she stopped and went searching for info about the mysterious Tjaden guy and found nothing.Sakura got a bit angry but kept going hoping to find anyone that could shed some light on the subject. The Harlequin
Khalith, an assumed name for an assumed identity, walked along easily, revelling in the myriad colours that inhabited his world alone. No one else perceived the details he did, and he had no problems with it staying that way. He absently picked up words, minute echoes from not only distance, but from time, things said a day or two ago, things said in buildings high above him. This new life, so full of things to discover, or rediscover, or whatever, suited him quiet well. He didn't even have to pretend a former life. He just said he'd had amnesia, or been exposed to lithium chloride, or some other such reason that the modern world abounded with anyway. He felt like a traveller from the dark ages, this strange amalgamation of strangeness and intriguing familiarity, a hint here and there, lurking around the edges. And truly told, the dangers in this age were not so different to those ancient ones. As he passed a squalid alley, home to the forgotten flotsam that were the remnants of the covert wars waged by corporations against others and themselves, Khalith heard the unique hum that signified life. The construct of sound that was blood rushing through veins, muscles quivering ever so infintisimely, breath echoing cavernously out of the mouth and nose, all underlined by the repetitive bass that the song was built on, the unique rhythm of the heart. He heard the hum louder than usual, the blood was up, as was the heart. A person stimulated, whether to violence or love was not certain, though likely known considering the circumstances. Khalith heard the rush as a swift passage of air. The added reaction time, along with not so dormant, though definitely forgotten or never realised, instincts, allowed him to spin, catching the knife aimed for his stomach, using the momentum to hurl his attacker around, keeping a grip on the wrist and nothing more. If he'd gripped the forearm, the attacker would have been off balance, no more. But with his wrist held but the rest of his arm free to move, all the small bones in the wrist were sharply wrenched. Khalith winced as the piercing sound of a break rang through his ears in a shock of pain. So there were disadvantages. The man fell, his moans sounding even worse to Khalith. He left, letting them echo out behind him.
