Defcon5
Does anyone plan on seeing this movie? It looks pretty cool and it has Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in it which, at the moment, is my current obsession. I also like the idea of how they combined a bunch of characters from old english literature. The only thing there missing, in my opinion, is some one from Oliver Twist. WW2
Yeah I've seen the previews and think it looks pretty cool. Its actually based on a comic book, and contains such literary characters as the invisible man, Dr. Jekyll, and Captain Nemo. There's also some vampire chick, but I can't think of her name. It does seem like an interesting premise, but I don't think I'll go see it.
Manic Webb
The vampire chick is from Dracula by Bram Stoker. I forget her name, though. This seems like a pretty good movie. A lot of classic literary characters in there. Jekyll, Invisible Man, Tom Sawyer (as an adult), ect. It seems pretty interesting. I read somewhere that James Bond's ancestor was in the comic, but the people making the film aren't using him.
Semjaza
Are you talking about League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? The sad thing is that no one is going to realize what a change this is from the comics. They even tried changing the name of the movie to The League, which thankfully didn't stick... although they call it that for short. LXG sounds even worse. I feel like I'm in a Mountain Dew commercial. The movie seems to take place decades later... Mina is suddenly a vampire? What the hell? She has never acted as such in the comics, despite her dealings with vampires. The movie somehow involves Tom Sawyer for some bizarre reason too. They've taken one of the best comics ever and turned it into a huge Hollywood mishmash of who knows what. I want to see it anyway, but I don't get why they even are making a movie about the comic if its going to be this different.
Corey
Is it just me, or does Mr Hyde look way to fake from the previews. I'm goinmg to end up seeing this anyway but, still...
Defcon5
Yeah Hyde is not supposed to look like that at all. In the book he is a young man in his mid to early 20's. I do know it was based on a comic book, I've been looking into it since I heard of the movie. I also read that they added Tom Sawyer because America is more familiar with him. Manic Webb
Thank goodness I never read the book, otherwise I'd never think about enjoying this movie.
XxmagentaxX
I really wanna see it, probably cuz Stuart Townsend and Shane West are in it.. and they look mighty good. But it also looks pretty interesting

I don't see how she became a vampire in the movie though.
Patronus
Do they have powers or something? Movie looks horrible to me
Semjaza
I have no idea how the movie will turn out. I've not kept up on it. If it has anything to do with the stuff it is based on and keeps the same idea, it should be great. Who knows if that will happen. Saying that looks horrible while hyping The Fast and the Furious is pretty humorous to me, but I guess I just didn't like that movie... so don't mind me. The millions who went to see it obviously think I'm wrong anyway lol.
Juu
Meh. The Fast and the Furious doesn't look that great to me. That's why I went to see 'The Italian Job' instead. Anywho, back on topic. The plot is interesting, but the whole cast doesn't look too great to me. I'm not a huge fan of any of the actors starring, and they don't seem to fit their characters very well. Like the guy playing 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde' just seems to be 100% insane rather than just... half. Same deal with the lady playing Mina. I don't think she fits the vampire persona very well... I'm definately not seeing this movie. There are better movies coming out in July. >>;;
Semjaza
The problem is that Mina isn't even supposed to be a vampire. It's so aggrivating heh. Oh well.

Are we sure it's not Lucy Westenra, I mean...(MAJOR BOOK SPOILER)
In the book she IS a vampire, even if she gets destroyed, you never know.Oo And you're right, Mina is NOT supposed to be a vampire, even if she was changing into one, she was cured at the end.(Poor Quincey..such a brave Texan!)
I do hope it isn't Mina.-- That would be quite annoying...and just ruin the movie even moreso than it already has been. Such a strange movie.--
Defcon5
It's Mina alright, I looked on the website. http://www.theleagueofextraordinarygentlemen.com/LXG_CHAR_FRAME2_800.html
Dmitri_Dragoon
It is Mina, in the movie her name is Mina Harker. She took the name of her fiance that died, you know Jonathan Harker. I think her story is supposed to like the Nosferatu (German with English subtitles.) version of Dracula. Anyways at some point she becomes a vampire hunter, but then gets bitten herself, thus becoming a vampire. So that's how it happens with her. And the movie looks like it is going to kick major tail. Go Sean Connery! he's some sniper I never heard of in the movie.
ThePikasElbow
I believe in the comics that Harker's vampireism was subtlely hinted at. I never read Dracula in it's entirety, so I can't add anything about Mina's character. Anyways, this looks like an interesting movie. Mixing in English literature is a very unique twist that is a treat for many fans of both literature and comic books. The CGI for Hyde does look a bit fake, but luckily he's not like that the entire movie. So it looks like a fun action/adventure movie. I'm not too familiar with the comic books, but many of the fans are pleased with how it looks so far.
Dmitri_Dragoon
Uh.. Sean Connery isn't Captain Nemo in the movie. In the movie his character is Allan Quatermain. A mercenary adventurer. Kinda cool.. kinda reminds me of Indiana Jones... that's a different story though.
ThePikasElbow
Oooooooo ok I remember now. I remember Quatermain. He does remind me of Indy too, I'm sure he was an influence on the character. There were also some Quatermain movies back in the 80s. Does anyone have a full list of the characters? I can only remember a handful. I know they added Sawyer, even though he wasn't in the comics. Defcon5
Campion Bond is not in the movie, they cut him. And you forgot Tom Sayer and Dorian Grey the immortal.
