TheShinje
Here is an Idea that I had. For those of us with really sharp graphics skills, I am proposing an unofficial Otaku Graphics Idol First off, what I need is a panel of 3 Judges, you should have good graphics knowledge, and know what makes a good CG image befor you apply to be a Judge, it would work to oyur advantage if you had work I could see, i.e Otaku Artist, Wallpapers ect. Anyone who wants to be a Judge should PM me. In each round, I will ask that the contestants make some form of CG art, one week it could be a wallpaper, another, a web banner, ect... Voting will be a consensu of Contestants with the Judges throwing in their two cents before hand, Like American Idol, the judges won't actually vote, Judging will be via PM to me where I will announce the results, and who leaves (the lowest score) What do you think of this concept? The only reason I want voting to be to me via pm is to keep the vote anonymous, i don't know if that would be a problem for anyone, but that's the reson. So, sign up here for the first Otaku graphics Idol. Name: Speciality (ie. Wallpapers, banners) Why you should be a Contestant (max. 400 words)
Alexa
I think you need permission before you start a thread like this, and it should be in the events forum. Ask first....BTW, there is already a something Idol going on. (Writing).
Jagan
It's a good idea but i dont think itll work. sorry
Sandy
Actually, you don't need a permission for starting a thread like this - it's unofficial. ANYBODY can start a thread like this. But there's a big difference on official events and unofficial events. The biggest difference is that unofficial events rarely work out. Either the host or the players get tired of that - and since it's unofficial, no-one will have any difficulties just to leave the game. Official games are much better organized, they aren't just spawns of a moment. Thus they are more succesful. I'm not saying that an unofficial event doesn't work - I'm running my second unofficial Survivor-contest! - but if you start by saying "I just thought it would be cool to have a game like this", it's not a good sign. Unofficial events aren't any more than regular RPG's - some of them work, most of them don't. As for THIS game I want to say something to Shinji: if REALLY, REALLY, REALLY think you can do this, pull it to the end, inspire the players to continue, not get bored yourself, THEN by all means, do continue. But I'm saying, IT WILL NOT BE EASY. If you think you can just start this game and let the players pull it through, you're WRONG. You have to be prepared to give the time the game needs. You have to be serious about this. Otherwise, this will probably end before it really starts. As an example I give you the notorious Unofficial Survivor 2, hosted by Bent Metal. After the first Unofficial Survivor came to an end, he PM'd me that he'd like to make a second one. Unfortunately he probably ran out of ideas or interest, and left the game and the players, so that there really WAS no Survivor 2. Well, I hope you take my word on this. CONSIDER CAREFULLY! TheShinje
Thanks for the advice everyone, I do really believe I can pull it off, and keep it original and exciting, all i need are the players. {QUOTE] Originaly posted by Sage but if you start by saying "I just thought it would be cool to have a game like this", it's not a good sign.
I guess that's why my RPGs never seem to go places. I might also seeif I could make it an official event. I would really like to see soem good Graphics come out of it, I have a reward up my sleeve, although I would rather not announce it until it becomes official, something to do with web though.
