Patronus
I live in Jackson County, Ohio. Some of you may of heard of it, some may have not. But I am here to tell you the deep, dark secrets of this Ohioan county. Well, my mom and I were watching some kind of homicide investigation show on Court TV. After watching some of it, I started to ask her questions like "Have there been any murders in Jackson?" She answered yes. And I was surprised to find the grim truth... She said that this woman name Lacy, whom my grandmother was friends with and her mom, was found in a cemetary behind the local Vetrenarians Office. She had been raped, and her feet and hands were tied together. She had been strangled to death. The story behind this? She had been working in a job where she had found out dark secrets about the judges of the county court and the political spotlights. One night, in a bar, she had made a remark like this: "You have no idea what I know." That was like a week before she was reported missing. My mom and grandmother say that the judges hired a hit man from out of town. It had to be professional, because the case has gone unsolved for almost 30 years. Jackson County has once been commented on by Johnny Carson. His remark? "If you want to get away with murder, go to Jackson County, Ohio." Has your town ever had any famous-recognition for it's dark secrets? Any horrible secrets that go unsolved even today?
KittyLynn
Well I live near Toronto,Ontario.(In Canada) This place is very well known. Well this isn't really a dark secret but the Holly Jones story is still being figured out. I'm not sure, but I think she was raped, then she was brutally murdered, with her body being chopped up. Well thats my story. Toodles. CL
Doukeshi
Well...nothing famous where I live exactly but in the city nearest to where I live, newcastle and the surrounding area, there was the child killer Mary Bell. I don't know if any of you folks who don't live in Britain know about her but she was about 11, 12, 13 or summat when she killed about three small boys on different occasions. I think it was three anyway...I'm a little sketchy on the details but she's under identity protection now. Oh yeah..and a friend of mines dad was accused of being the yorkshire ripper, PM me if you want details on that guy (the yorkshire ripper I mean, not my friends dad lol)
Red
I live in London, England. Every day I hear about how a girl was raped, a man was shot in the skull by a gang, etc. It becomes like an everyday occurence, faces being blurred on the news as they just become 'yet another victim'. I don't think people really grasp the idea of crime in a city as large as this one. That is, in the sense that it doesn't affect people unless it happens to directly relate to them in some way. (e.g a friend killed, raped, beaten up etc.). Where my Irish family lives; a tiny town with a population of 4000, a rape took place. It sent shockwaves throughout the whole town, police swarming where it took place and interviewing almost every person in the town. It was insane. When someone gets raped in London - the police take some footnotes, compare some faces, and that's about all you hear. My friend was raped, twice, and the man got away with barely a year in prison; even though it was deliberate and continued. Over there, that rapist was put away for so long you could've thought it was murder that he committed. London is full of 'horrible secrets'. People die in the streets every day to gang wars, racists; I even hear about murderers doing it because they just have 'nothing better to do'. You see in the general psychology of the people here, they just don't care if it doesn't directly relate to them. Again, when I compare it to that tiny town in Ireland - people were so concerned with what happened and all pulled through to help the girl who was raped. It was all over the local news for weeks, updates being given priority over major news articles in the newspapers. In London, the news of a man being burnt to death by a group of teenagers in front of his children is overwritten by the news of a Royal Family member starting at a new school. It makes me sick - that a man who died an agonising death can be brushed aside so easily, but then I remember this is London, and thats how things work. I think every large city works like that.. and one like London certainly holds millions of terrible secrets that shall never be uttered, because how a person high in society does in their sex life is more important.

People would stop buying the papers, sick of seeing page after page of pain and death and depressing, possibly soul destroying images. This might be over doing it a bit but this world would sink even deeper into it's muddy pit if everywhere you turned death would be staring you in the face. It is truly sad that such a thing is so common place but there isn't much anyone can do about it. Granted the f***er who raped your friend should have been castrated and locked up for 30 years, but that's not how the world works anymore. My advice is, the best possible thing you can do other than join the police force or become a vigilante is to go live in a small village in Ireland and be happy. KittyLynn
Toronto is scary to walk around. You never know whats going to happen. People are always getting raped and murdered. What has our world come to? Well I don't know. But if it gets worse, then its ..gonig to be worse. ;) Well this Holly Jones thing scares me. And how bout that women who drowned 3 of her kids, then put them back in their beds. I think she had a problem or something. Obviously...In some places it may be a rare oocurance of a murder. But here, it needs to be big, to be reported as something special. Well better stop rambling about nothing special.:P Toodles CL

Lady Macaiodh
Richmond is crime crazy. You can be walking down the street and see someone getting beat up, and the general reaction is, "Well, that's a shame." There are tons of unsolved brutal cases around here. So I guess it's not the same for me.
Shaun
I live in Vinton County, Ohio, neighbor to Jackson county. I live in a small place called Allensville, which is nothing more than a school, a bar, and a general store, with a couple of used car lots thrown in. But that's today. Back in the day, There were hotels, bus stops, stores, and a post office. Allensville had the nickname "Little Chicago" because mafia people would stay in the hotels during trips from chicago to the east. There has been gun battles, a big arson case, and drug trafficing through here. This was quite the little hub! But like Logan said, this is an area that isn't wealthy or anything, but the history and secrets are Huge!
Mei
Let's see...Tulsa, Oklahoma, having horrid secrets...you wouldn't think so. Unfortunately we did have the biggest and most lethal race riot in the world here. Twas back in 1921, and VERY few know about it. The only reason I do is because we were on a Civil Rights Unit in U.S. Government, and my teacher brought it up... Very sad, happened in what today is considered "North Tulsa." Mainly where gangs, poverty, and bared up windows lodge. I'd rather not go into detail on the Race Riot...but you can just look it up as the Tulsa Race Riot, and find what info you want.(or you can PM me, that works too..Oo) Just recently though, dismembered body parts were found in a small pond, and the suspect, whom is one of my friends from Church Uncle, had body parts found in his trailer. I'm not going into detail about that either, at least not here. That's all I'm going to mention for now. Thankyou.
