I used to be obsessed with the show and the cards etc. but lately I have fallen out of the liking of Pokemon. But, my brother just bought Ruby version for the GBA and I saw alot of new Pokemon. Have they really changed the series that much in adding Pokemon and such?

The TCG has expansions, like you've got your basic deck, then there was the Jungle Deck which included more (different) Pokemon, I stopped playing round about there, but I've seen them in game shops, I think there Neo- something cards, and they released cards for gold and silver too, as far as I know. So yeah, more new creatures for Pokemon TCG Trainers ^____^;;

Yes, there were a lot of Neo expansions. Neo Genesis, Neo Discovery, Neo Revalation, and Neo Destiny. The more current expansions include Pokémon-e: Expedition and Pokémon-e: Aquapolis. There's also another called Pokémon-e: Skyridge, but I don't know if it's been released yet. The former cards all include the Pokémon from G/S/C as well as the originals. I stopped collecting after Neo Destiny, so I couldn't tell you if the newer cards are any better.

Oo; Who told you that? The only card I can think of off the top of my head that's banned is Ancient Mew. There's another one, but I can't remember what it is. I myself have a deck called "Vaporeon's Vortex" based on TR's Dark Vaporeon, and it's perfectly fine. You should just try to find a tournament site and sit in a few games. It's pretty interesting.

That's what the newer sets are. The Japanese V.S. cards are the e-cards that are in print under the set name Pokémon-e: Expedition and Pokémon-e: Aquapolis, if my info is correct.

Well, if that's the case, then it may be that the newest set coming out, Pokémon-e: Skyridge, may be the one. I'm just grasping at straws myself, so I can't really tell you. All I can say is that you could run a search on a search engine somewhere and try to find some matches at some set spoiler sites. I really should start collecting again....
