naota
Hmm,the first song I like from anime is "The Real Folk Blues" from Cowboy Bebop.I can't get that song out of my head for some reason.I didn't remember the words but I remembered the same tune and sometimes kept humming it inside of my head. The second one is from the "Zoids Chaotic Century".I loved that one,it was the ending to some of the episodes.I forgot whats the name of it but all I know is that it has the use of a guitar.I always hummed that tune to me at school, going to sleep, and any time I am bored. The third song is from FLCL,Furi Curi,Fooly Cooly what ever you wanna call it. I loved that song!I actually liked this song more then any of the other shows I listed here. I don't know why I like it so much but I just do.I am listening to it right now also lol.
Guest Agent ThePro
I'd say that my favourite is Ask DNA, the opening for the Cowboy Bebop Movie, it is extremly catchy, one of the best tunes i've ever heared. Plus, the words just sound kool, and the singer had got an incredible voice!
Dagger
On the subject of music, Geneon has finally licensed the RahXephon OST. I don't buy very many anime soundtracks--the last one I actually bothered to purchase was Tsukihime: Moonlit Archives. Much like Tsukihime, RahXephon is one of the few anime whose background music made a tremendous impression on me. I'm sure I've praised RahXephon elsewhere in this thread, but it has an unbelievably well-crafted score, one which really contributes to the show's atmosphere and overall emotional impact. I'll definitely be pre-ordering the RahXephon soundtrack. ~Dagger~
AniSmith
i personaly have the rahxephon ost, it was Devistingly DULL  Hemisphere was great and everything else was like the Chobits OST XD wierd BGM but then again i never did like the Rah BGM so, sigh, to each their own. although there was the battle theme that resembled teh Eva theme, wierd. And actually there are 3 Rah OSTs + ~Pluralitas Concentio~ My fav OSTs and Songs would be: Bebop (1-5 + Box Set) FLCL (1-2 + Shooting Star Single CD) Berserk (1 + Berserk ~Forces~ Single CD) "Hemisphere" from Rah "Robin's Theme" and "Shell" from Witch Hunter Robin Last Exile's OP "Let Me be With You (Step Mix)" from Chobits Excel Saga's OP Gost In The Shell (TV) OP Macross Plus (1-2 + Symphony) Millennium Actress OST Paranoia Agent OST [Basicaly everything From Susumu Hirasawa :)] Serial Experiment Lain (All OSts and stuff) and anything else that i can't think of right now XD
Solo Tremaine
Surprisingly, the RahXephon soundtrack left me pretty cold too- besides Hemisphere there are only one or two pieces of music that I really liked: The end credits of the final episode being one, and the piece of music that played
during Hiroko's death
. Other than that, even the rest of the songs didn't impress me very much. Trigun was the same to begin with, but after buying the soundtrack for my sister it really grew on me. I doubt RahXephon would do that for me. Recently I've become very attached to the Princess Mononoke, Big O, Samurai X and Fullmetal Alchemist soundtracks. Fullmetal Alchemist interested me because it was done with a full-scale orchestra; a lot of money must have been put into this if you consider the bands who created some of the songs. I'm really glad there's a 'Best of' themes for the series coming out soon, because it saves me shelling out for the singles separately- only two of the TV-sized themes were on the first OST, and they both ended rather abruptly.
Guest Geno
Man has to be Noir and Cowboy Bebop. Both have brillant songs that would pretty much catch anyones attention and the one with the clock for Noir is great.....
"NOIR" (2003) The story of two female assasin, the music is ground breaking with the soft voices signing in the background, like so souped up classical music. Especially when those volient gun battle get started.... I have heard nothing that can beat NOIR. Then again I have not hear "Cowboy Behop" but I will tell you this much the sales of Noir music soundtrack is on 3 cd's and they sell like hotcakes! 3 cd of NOIR! Geno. ghostlightning
i've always been a music fan, and i've been an anime fan since before i could run, and i would have to say that in general, anime have really excellent soundtracks but the best composer is yoko kanno and her best work is in cowboy bebop. i have all the music, and everything is perfect. and just when you think there's nothing to top all this, future blues comes out and just kicks ***. i mean, 'nock a little harder' is just as good as 'blue' and 'the real folk blues' combined. every day i have a new favorite track. gush gush. to give some perspective, here are other examples of what i consider top notch: steely dan (particularly the 'aja' album 1977) metallica (all music from '83-'87) bach (the art of the fugue) beethoven symphonies mozart anton carlos jobim (bossa nova) jaco pastorius (bassist, particularly his birthday concert) chuck mangione (horn) chick corea (composer, jazz fusion) shin seki evangelion (anime) kare kano (anime: his and her circumstances) mazinger z (themes, especially venus a theme) miss saigon (alain boubil, claude-michel schoenberg composers) swing out sister depeche mode (strangelove, blasphemous rumours) slayer (south of heaven, seasons in the abyss) vision of escaflowne (anime, yoko kanno) macross plus (yoko kanno) macross (minmei music, great pop stuff) i used to play in a heavy metal garage band, fyi. I especially liked Sora....sanged by Shanti Snyder, really relaxing. I also fell in love with the Princess Mononoke music. The theme song is so beautiful and relaxing. I can't stop listening to them. I also liked the the opening song. I dunno...i like relaxing songs. Now...for games? I don't play them that much...but i do like the FF songs.
