Have you ever had an ncounter w/a cheap rip off?

A few weeks ago, my dad bought me some batteries for my GBA. THese were Duracell batteries-or they looked like it, powercheck and all. THen i notice it- DuraSELL. THese things only last about 2 hours, but i got a lot of them.

So, have you ever had one of those?

What you encountered wasn't a rip off. A rip off, or what you're thinking of, is something that pretends to be something else. Duracell and Durasell are two different companies. Durasell is probably way cheaper. don't expect too much from cheap stuff. There is usually a reason it's cheap.

*wonders if anyone has noticed the signature flipping us all off...*

A Uniden 4XR UHF CB Radio.. and a Uniten 4XR UHF CB Radio..

They look just the same.. belt clip, speaker, receiver.. just a damn friggin' letter that changes it all. I was looking for the Uniden.. but I got the Uniten. The stupid thing don't even go half a kay when the ariel's extended full length.

Well, I have to admit - to my shame - that as Finland's two neighbors - Russia and Estonia - are known for their pirate products, lots of Finns go there just to buy loads of illegal stuff, such as videotapes - dubbed by one man to lowsy Finnish -, CDs - that don't usually work - , and clothes with such famous marks as Adidos and Naik.

Down with piracy! :p

Ah, I am well-versed with cheap rip-offs, unfortunately- Yu-Gi-Oh cards and some Digimon figures are always ripped off.

People on eBay sall hundreds of 'Chinese' cards, which basically means 'fakes'- no hologram in the corner, no coloured writing and no holofil background. And sometimes people make stupid English replicas with fonts like Verdana and expect people to believe it's real, heh. Mind you, some people fall for it.

I bought a BlackWarGreymon action figure a while ago, and I found out it was a cheap copy made from a normal WarGreymon mould- it wasn't fully painted and the Bandai logo on the underneath was scraped off.

I was very annoyed when I found out. I rectified the situation by buying a real BlackWarGreymon figure, though ^_^ And that made me feel much happier.

It's often easy to tell with things like this- on the fake figure there were no corporate logos, the packaging was worse than on normal figures (The Japanese tend to virtually imprison their figures in plastic, whereas people are too cheap to do that for a fake). Check very carefully what you want against what's there.

I have many piratedanime soundtracks, I found out. That annoyed me greatly. I only buy proper ones now, even though they are much more expensive. But it makes me feel better knowing I'm being more honest- companies lose out on huge amounts of money when people pirate CDs. And that makes the originals more expensive >_<

I have a huge amount of copied/burnt/pirated/whatever you want to call it CDs, whether it be singles or full albums.

They're just as good, and really there's no difference in the listening quality. That's all I'm worried about. Not the covers or the pictures. The thing is, if for some reason all this gets out to the police or anywhere where they can do something about it, I'm in ****. And my parents or anyone I know can't do a thing about it.. 'cause they don't know. So they're "cheap rip-offs" aswell. o_O;

Yeah. I didn't download them, though- I got them from various online retailers. And that's what gets me as well- it annoys me that the quality on those is so good because it makes me wonder why I have to spend twice as much money on something else that's only as good. But it's all moral judgement, really.

I didn't know they were pirated until I got them. The thing is they're so widely available from e-stores all over the world it's hard to know whether the fakes aren't the original after all. Almost every shop I go to that sells these soundtracks are selling the SonMay ones, and the amount they have for sale is ridiculous. You can't exactly tell them that their entire CD collection is fake. They may already know. *shrugs* I just don't get them from there any more.

One time, when i was 10, we went to buy halloween costumes. They ended up being all trashy and crap, cuz like some parts of the stuff was just plastic peices stapled together and they charged 10$, and when my dad saw them he got sooo mad and told us that we shoulda just made our costumes cuz the final product waslike 150$, but there was one big problem...NO REFUNDS! SO he went back to the store...accused them of Highway Robbery, threatened to sue them...and eventually...got us oour money back. Boy am i glad that my dad is good at persuasion. Other than that, i havent really ran into many ripoffs.

Grrr... I hate it when they do that! They always have the cheap sucky things on the inside of the package or box, and then on the outside it looks all professional and...worth the value. But then when you buy it and open it...you find out it's NOT worth the value. You try to return it.. and guess what?? NO REFUNDS!! it was probably expensive too...:flaming: :bawl:

Panasafonic... Sorny... Magnetvox. Quality stuff.

When I was in Mexico, the local markets had tons of rip off items. More games than I could name, even SNES carts with 8 games built into them. One Gameboy cart had like 45 games (and we're talking good stuff like Super Mario Land 2).

I thought the worst one was this one Nike stand... Everything in it had Nike spelled like Nikke.
