If the Matrix were real...

What would you do if you knew that we actually lived in a Matrix. With "Agents" and "Ones" and all. And what would you do if Morpheus contacted you or someone like him to try to get you out of the Matrix. Think about it, we could live in a Matrix...Freaky huh.

treton's a dork sometime, dont mind him. [lol =P]

I think it would happen like in the movie. There would be a period of doubt, in yourself, your decison. Disbelief at what they say is the true reality. But eventually you'd have to accept it, and just go with the flow.

Even if the Matrix were real, why would I care? Why wouldn't you want to live in it? Look at the alternative.

I'd rather live in a pretend world that's actually somewhat enjoyable. It certainly beats living in a torn apart city (where apparently white people don't exist anyway, so I wouldn't be around heh), constantly worrying about sentinels and other weird things attacking me just for existing. Living knowing that even if you actually defeat these robot the world is going to SUCK for generations to come as it is.

So really, ignorance is bliss in this case. I'd rather the Matrix made me think cheesecake tasted good than go without it totally. I'd rather the Matrix told me that bands like NIN and Queens of the Stone Age kick unholy amounts of *** than be forced to listen to that stuff they play at the rave scene in Reloaded for the rest of my life (I will never get that image of Keanu/Neo's butt out of my head during that scene).

Life sucks as it is for many, many people. Why would I want to make my life even worse by leaving the Matrix? Apparently people who are freed need to wear tons of tight leather/pleather and sun glasses in the Matrix... but when they are out, they wear the same dirty clothes every day. Does Neo even change?

And if I just lived my life like I am now, there's no way I'd be contacted by agents or machines or anything else. I'd be living my life the exact same way I'd be living it if there was no such thing as the Matrix.

So really... What's the loss? A lack of total consciousness? Meh.

Reminds me of Caddyshack honestly. "When I'm on my deathbed, I will receive total consciousness. So I've got that going for me."

And anyone that actually thinks that stuff is possibly true has many problems and needs to seperate fantasy from reality heh.

You are a sad, strange, little man... or woman. Person. There, lol.

Anyway, I would probably do it. My curiosity would drive me to see what it is like even though there would not really be any return. I would get used to it eventually, and even though like Semmy said with having to keep on your toes about Sentinels and all that it would give me something to do. I would imagine life outside 'the Matrix' would prove to be a hell of a lot more interesting than inside.

Though, I also with what Semmy said about the music... I would surely miss AFI a lot, but they have to have something that can play CDs somewhere... >.> They have floppies (or at least something that resembles them) so it should be possible to get other stuff.

But yeah, it would give me something to do, so I would do it.

I think they'd be able to compensate for the music. All they'd have to do is log into their Loading Program (remember the program they log onto to get their weapons before jumping into the actual matrix?), get the ability to play certain music instruments programed into their heads, play a song that kicks major league arse, and save/record the music onto disc. And if a city built with large metal password-only doors doesn't have a CD player, I don't know what this computer-generated world is coming to!

Or, you know, join one of the crews that log into the matrix all the time (like Morpheus' or Niobe's crews), and just log on to the matrix and listen to music then.

I'm with Semjaza. Ignorance is bliss. If I really was trapped in the matrix, I wouldn't want to leave. And if freed people can only re-enter wearing skin-tight pleather or 7-layer business suits (imagine entering the matrix on a hot summer's day), then you can count me out.

I don't think there actually is a Matrix... It is all science fiction... BUT, if there was one, I would just keep living a normal life, even if I didn't know what was going on or anything... And if I had to choose the pill? Yeah, I would chose the blue one and just continue my life normally... BUT, since I am curious, I know I would take the red pill to know what was going on at all, even if I would say I wouldn't take it... So yeah, it wouldn't matter... It's not about making decisions, but understanding the decisions you made...

There could be a Matrix. But if there were, don't you think we would have heard about some of the fights that would take place between the agents and the little people that got out? I mean, the way the movies look, the destruction they cause would be a little noticeable. So really I don't think it exists.

Dmitri does prove a point, but you have to take this into consideration, everyone in the Matrix is a potential agent. And you never know when you are or arent one. Another thing is, is that the little Secret Service dudes could be agents.

True, but also about the way everyone is a potential agent. What happens to the people that the agents take over? Does the Matrix instantly wipe clean everyone's memory of their ever existing? Or when the Agents take a new form and leave a body, thus making a new one. Does the Matrix instantly give it a history and life? One of the many questions.

You guys can't be serious.

Then again, I have gotten in some rather involved philosophical debates about, DBZ, so I suppose I can't judge...

I'd probably just stay in the Matrix. Fighting it is too much like work. At least I get paid at my job. I also wouldn't want to leave my loved ones behind, and it would be selfish of me to force them out of it.

EDIT: Whoa, I just thought of this. Would my baby exist, or would he be just a program? Or would he be one of those random babies in the pods and not even related to me at all? WTF?

I was thinking this too, a few days ago because at times I feel so out of place and apart from the world. I like to be alone alot. These are all teenage accurances though. :/

If I had the choice, I'd choose the red pill. I realize that the real world didn't look as happy and care free but it was interesting and real. I'd miss the life I'd have to leave behind but I would eventually get used to it and become accustomed to the everyday routines of avoiding sentinals and eating, snot. That portion doesn't sound very appealing however.:therock:

Well I guess the first thing I would do if I knew that we were actually inside a matrix is try to jump very high. I mean come on we would have a movie to tell us all about what we can do. Hmm...yeah but if I didn't know about the movie I don't really know what i'd do. But lets be realistic here(not that the topic is realistic)...i'd probably freak out big time.

I'm with Semjaza. Ignorance would be welcoming although if someone showed me what the hell was going on I'd prolly wanna join up in the fight....(i'm like that what can I say)

But its pretty much un-realistic to think we are living in the matrix, because if we were there would have never been a "Matrix-Reloaded" I'm pretty sure some agents would have came and killed the writers of the movie by now ;)

Well. . let's see now. If the Matrix was real, and I was a part of it, I would be pretty upset. Simply put, no way would I let any of those programmers still be in existance. Artificial Intelligence or not, no way would I still be single. .

no. the films were made to convince the populous that it all really is just fiction, even though some of us know better.

agents kill the Wachowski's? please. how do you think the Wachowski brothers know so much about the matrix?
