[i]"Exceptionnal" means something that is an exception. Thus we are exceptionnal, and like all those that are exceptionnal, we wish to help humanity. Athletes, genius scientists, artists, they helps in their own ways, just like we help in our own unique way.[/i] - Michel Chatelet "Channel" [i]All we ask is for some trust.[/i] - Michael Biddall "Dreamcast" This is a fairly AU (Alternate Universe) to the X-Men movies (I am not familiar enough with the comic books to use this fandom). The situation is the same than the movies... Without any X-Men caracter. It's year 2003 and the mutant situation is still at bay. Even with the work accomplished by the Organization for Peacefull Human Relations and it's unofficial branch, the Mutant Brigades, many people remain afraid of mutants and yet another mutant registration project recently entered the Senate. The Organization for Peacefull Human Relations is an non-governmental organization working for complete integration of mutants in human society and is made of mutants and regular men and women. They also help new mutants harnessing their newfound powers in MHGs: Mutant Help Groups. The Mutant Brigades are groups of mutants of varying sizes working in concerted collaboration with official government in all domains. They help capture dangerous and criminal mutants, police investigations, scientific research and peacekeeping. -- There will be NO all-powerfull mutants OR X-men caracters (Though you may use powers or names of very secondary caracters, and I mean VERY, and never together). You are asked to be original in both powers and names. You can not mix powers: a mind controller is NOT a telepath and a telepath is not a telekinesist etc. Each and everytime you introduce a new NPC (non-player caracter), you are asked to fill a profile for him to help consistency. I will provide several exemple sheets below in this post. The Mutants Brigades are organized in independant groups that usually doesn't know each others, they are centered around a living place, place of work, school etc. and named by natural things. However, I'll ask that you all be part of Toronto's Group Blueberry or Operation Group #4: Solidarity, for simplicity's sake. Operation Groups (a dozen around North America) are groups of trained mutants that are usually fairly powerfull... and fairly different, most of the times having body modifications. Eyes: Dark blue Hair: Brown Strength level: Michael Biddall possesses the normal human strength of a man of his age who engages in little exercise. Mutation type: Psionist Known superhuman powers: Michael can enter a trance that allows him to project himself as his "dream double" that double can act as a phased person (go through walls, etc.), see and hear, but not touch anything. It is visible, though translucent, similarly to a ghost and can be heard if he talks. This double can be touched by phased mutants. If Michael is pulled out of his trance or hurt, his projection ends immediately. Special limitations: Michael cannot know what happens around him when he is in trance, also his dream self cannot pass through some types of forcefields. Other: Michael discovered his powers when he was 15 years old. He lost his friends when they discovered he was a mutant, even though they didn't even know what his mutancy was. Later, he met Sean Oddkinson and Andrew Malhouse, two other mutants and thay started to conceive the project of an association to help with integration of mutants. Michael is usually working on directing the action of MBO groups across North Aerica, often providing logistic support via his dream self. Mutation type: Blaster Known superhuman powers: Sean can project x-shaped invisible energy blast from the two x-shaped scars in the palms of his hands. Their effects vary from neat cutting to pushing, fissuring and shattering surfaces they hit, usually leaving large x-shaped fissures. These blasts also give him the possibility to fly. Name: Andrew Malhouse Codename: Gamecube, Cube Age: 23 Occupation: (current) Manager of the MBO Mall. Leader of the Mutant Brigades. Identity: Though the general public is well aware that Andrew Malhouse is a mutant, most people do not know the nature and extent of his powers. Mutation type: Emphasist Known superhuman powers: Andrew can cube up any chosen caracteristic of an object he touches. Be it strength, length, width, heighth, speed, brightness etc. It can also dramatically increase the habilities of mutants he touches. Special limitations: Andrew cannot use his habilities on himself. Also, he can only affect ONE specific caracteristic of any given object. Name: Kim Su-Yeong Codename: Thread Age: 19 Occupation: (current) Worker at a flower shop in MBO Mall Identity: Most people doesn't know Kim Su-Yeong is a mutant. Known superhuman powers: Kim's fingers have glands that produce threads of an unknown substance under her fingernails. She can vary the caracteristics (strenght, diameter, stickyness, elasticity) of these threads a lot and make virtually any use out of them. Other Habilities: Kim has trained a lot in Karate and Tae-Kwon Do and is dangerous even without taking her habilities in account. Mutation type: Body modifications Known superhuman powers: Tortoise has no hair on his body and diminished ears and nose. His skin is leathery and a pale grey color. His skin and respiratory system are apparently unaffected with any known substance such chlorine, acids, methan, phosphorus, alkali etc. He has been known to survive through virtually any atmospere without harm. Underwater breathing is no problem to him either. It is supposed he could survive a brief passage into void. He is still vulnerable to standard injuries though: bullets, knives etc. Other: Tortoise's existence has been erased from all official files. Name: Magaly Wells Codename: Biomass Age: 24 Occupation: (current) Worker of a pet shop in New York City. Identity: Most people doesn't know Magaly wells is a mutant. However, they will always appear from areas where you can't see, behind or inside something. She always have two very intelligent basset hounds with her that are summoned. Summoned animals are virtually invincible and only disappear when people aren't looking. Name: George Partkins Codename: Judas Age: 20 Occupation: (current) Member of Operation Group #4. Identity: The general public is unaware of George Partkins' existence. Legal status: None. Place of birth: Halifax, Canada. Group affiliation: (current) Mutant Brigade. They produce a serum of unknown composition that, when applied through a kiss on well vascularizated parts of the body (like lips), puts the victim in a mindless state. The person will then obey any and all orders being given to it, the first usually being "You will only obey me." This state lasts between a couple hours and a couple of days. Though an anti-serum has been discovered, there is no psionic way to free a person under George's control. Name: Walter Rammstein Codename: Yromem Age: 45 Occupation: (current) Lawyer. Name: Sandra Bilodeau Codename: Supernova Age: 21 Occupation: (current) Worker in a Department Store. Identity: Most people that know Sandra are well aware of her powers. The general public, however, is unaware that Sandra is a mutant. Legal status: Citizen of Canada with no criminal record. Place of birth: Quebec City, Canada. Group affiliation: (current) Mutant Brigade. Northern Sector, Quebec Division, Quebec City Section, Group Kabir-Kouba Hair: Blonde, dyed green. Mutation type: Blaster Known superhuman powers: Sandra causes anything she touches with her mediuses to explode. For some reason, this won't work on living being. She can, however, blast clothes someone wears, though it won't be a very powerfull explosion. It is yet unknown whether this power is psionic in nature, or due to a body modification. Special limitations: Sandra must wear constantly a special pair of gloves with a forcefield keeping them from touching directly her medius. Mutation type: Genius Known superhuman powers: Michel is a genius in conceiving and building devices that work along with human psyche. Though most of his work is done in collaboration with the Brigade, he still help in doing medical researches. His name came from his first invention, a device channeling what telepaths see into audible sounds or visible images: the psi-channeler. Unlike a "normal" scientist, he would't be able to tell how he get to knows how to built his devices. Name: Martine Laurier Codename: Oleander Age: 30 Occupation: (current) Teacher in a secondary school. Identity: Most people are not aware of Martine's mutation and powers. She ran away from her home, dyed her hair platinum blonde and brought honey colored contacts so no one would be able to find her. She had heard of the Mutant Brigade and hitchiked her way to Toronto. After joining them, she dyed her hair white. They gave her special contacts to wear that make identifying her by optical scan virtually impossible. Dani is a very shy and quiet person who doesn't talk much. In public, she pretends to be a deaf mute and, most recently, a goth, in an attempt to draw attention away from her voice. A few minutes later, the wall exploded and the principal questioned all of the students. John and Evan both lied about the incident, but a kid that was watching them, told the principal what really happened. Evan was sent to a Juvenile Detention Center for vandalism and destruction of public property. He was also kicked out of the school for being a mutant. One day in September Korey arrived home from school, he found his mother lying on the floor covered in blood. There was a note on the table, it was from his dad. It read... His mother survived, she still has never told Korey why his father stabbed her. Korey still lays awake wondering what could've caused his father to fly off the handle like that. After that he and his mother developed a strong bond, and he spent more time at home then ever before. He continued on with his regular life, but his heart is still knicked from when his father left them. [b]Current Status:[/b] Korey is over the stabbing incident, well as over it as possible. He is currently dating a young girl named Ashley, she is not a mutant. She knows about his powers and doesn't care. Her father however is anti-mutant, but he makes an exception for Korey. He loved Korey since before he even knew he was a muntant. He found out by easedropping on a conversation, it took a while to get over it but he is back to normal. In the dark, they turn reptilian (almond shape down the middle)and have the ability to glow. Mutation Type: Body Modification/Telapath Known superhuman power: Can stick to walls due to sticky secretions from the pores of his skin. Secretions dissolve once appendage is removed from the wall or surface in question. If a person sees him, he has the telepathic ability to convince the person that he was not seen. (This ability takes a great deal of effort and is only used as a last resort) Special limitations: Psionic ability cannot be consciously used, it happens instinctively. Personnality: Mixed. Ben can sometimes be the perfect gentleman, as the adults of his community know. At others he is a witty, cynical piece of garbage that nobody really likes. History: Normal life, mixed with thefts that nobody could pin to him. He's never taken anything really valuable, something he wishes to remedy. He steals things for the rush, not their value and has gotten bored of stealing things so easily. He wants a challenge. And Ben, these are not NPCs, though some may appear (I'm pretty sure I'll use The Zebra and Yromem at some point). They were just given as example. Mutation type: Outer-Dimensionnal Known superhuman powers: As an Outer-dimensionnal being, he can bend virtually any physical law in his vicinity. By manipulating gravity, he has acquired flight and slight telekinetic habilities. He has proven to be able to render himself invisible. He can also physically feel and touch or manipulate light.
