APEMAN
I think that this stuff was a better as an idea than as an action. I found a pretty cool program called Blender. It's completely free and it's been used in the productions of some movies, so it has to be pretty powerful. It can be used to make 3d games too. :D I got tutorials from the internet and tried to follow them, but maybe I'm just a dummy because that crap isn't working. Maybe I should just wait 'til I can get Maya or Lightwave. Whatever. If anybody could help me out with some of this it would be greatly appreciated. APEMAN
I guess what I really meant to ask was is there any way to make going from 2d to 3d easier?, and, Did anyone know if Blender was an okay program?
BananaRoach
Nothings going to be easy about first learning a 3D modeling program. I use Maya and it is extremely powerful. The only way to learn is to go through alot of the tutorials step by step till you get the hang of it. Maya's tutorial if were in book form probably be like a 1000 pages... either that or go take a college course on it.
Turkey
While Blender's got some amazing filters, I recomend that you use Milkshape, since it has some amazing tutorials.
Guest Auro
lol...if u want a good 3d program w/ lots of tight tuts get 3d studios max a.k.a. 3dsm...i currently use cinema 4d which is as strong as 3dsm and is used in a whole lot of movies for its modeling power, but unfortunately there arnt many tuts for it.But for me thats ok since its actually better to mess around and learn things for urslef rather than to read a tutorial and keep usin that style in everything u do
Guest yuka-kitsune
where did you find it
APEMAN
I found it on the blender.org site. I think. I just thought that blender would be a good program because of some reviews that I had read and also being free doesn't hurt.
Red
Any 3D rendering program is good to start out with. Trust me, you have a lot to learn. I use 3DS Max, and I have been for about 2 and a half months. I still barely understand how to get some basic things right. The book that I'll be borrowing (which is just like one long, fat tutorial) is well over 900 pages long; and that's for an older version. Free is good, too, so I think you should go for it. Most other 3D rendering programs would burn a huge hole in your pocket to buy, unless you get them other ways.
