Okay, I don't know how to use much in PSP but what really gets me is layering to color your drawings, I guess cg-ing. If anyone has any good tutorials or can write up a quick tutorial on how to layer and color, please, that would be great.

have you tried polykarbon.com ???

Please do not post links to websites. That is known as advertising, and it is against the rules here. Next time, please try to PM the member with it so that you don't get in trouble. -Syk3

The only reason I'd say it would be any harder is that PSP doesn't seem to gear itself to layers by default (at least, last I used it). Whereas Photoshop really forces them onto you.

So I'd suggest, if you haven't already, mostly looking into PSP7's layer settings (which aren't hard once you dig them out) and playing with the different transparency settings with various colors until things start making sense. That's mostly what you'd wind up doing in Photoshop at first anyway, in terms of this stuff.

James is one of the few people I know that seems to mostly work in that program, so perhaps he could be of more specific help.

Just open your picture, select a new layer, draw and color over the lines of your original drawing, switch layers, rub out the layer with the original pic, and then youre done. ^^ that's how I do it anyway.

Okay people. Thank you for all the advice. I did go to PolyKarbon and did find it to be of some use actually. A lot of you are saying it is harder on Paint Shop Pro, well, what program would you recommend for cg-ing? Is Photoshop any good? Which version of it also is good?

Photoshop 6.0. I recently downloaded Photoshop 7.0 but personally prefer 6.0 because of the easier to use interfaces and less hastle you have to go through to tinker with the airbrush settings. If you get Photoshop try screwing with the layer masks and everything to because they can prove helpful when CG-ing a image. Photoshop is also good for vectors but it takes some messing with the Pen tool to figure things out.

--- I probably confused you. Just download either Photoshop 6 or 7.0.

I use it for everything I do, since I don't have PhotoShop. (Yet--I keep meaning to get it, so I probably will eventually). Once I learned how they worked, using layers in PSP7 was pretty easy, though.

What exactly are you trying to do, though? I'm not sure I understand what it is you're having trouble with.
