Jamvis
The title of this story is Urban Legend. It's about a Guy named Jim who becomes a legend known for fighting with a make-shift staff, here's the first two chapters, you can add in chapters at will. ______________________________________________________________________ Chapter One ---------------------------------------------------------------------- As long as humans have roamed the earth, there have been legends of heroes. People, who are set apart from the others, people sent to protect the weak and downtrodden. While most of these tales are purely fictional, there are some of which are true. Legends walk the earth like you and I. One of these living legends is Jim Walker. He may be known as the protector in the shadows but he wasn?t always like that. He was your average person trying to survive like the rest of us. One day as he was walking home from a convience store, he took his usual short cut through the alleyway. He stumbled upon a group of people attempting to mug a person, but this person could put up a good fight. However, he wasn?t strong enough to take out the thugs. Jim thought to himself, ?I have to help this guy? but how?? No sooner had the thought popped into his head, did he see a raggedy old mop. This mop had a solid oak handle, so Jim knew he wouldn?t break it easily. Jim went to the mop and removed its head, leaving only the handle to be used as a staff. With staff in hand, Jim quickly swats two of the thugs across the head. The two fell unconscious, but this drew the attention of the other two thugs to Jim. The two thugs launched themselves at Jim like rabid animals. Acting on pure instinct, Jim swung and nailed both of them in mid air. The thugs fell, but scrambled to their feet and fled. As Jim turned to leave, the stranger called out, ?Hey, wait up!? He turns around to meet the stranger. The man says, ?Thanks for what you did back there, that was amazing! My name is?? Jim cuts him off and says, ?No names please, I just want to go home? its pretty late so I suggest you do the same.? With that he turns and starts off home. ______________________________________________________________________ Chapter Two ---------------------------------------------------------------------- He is greeted by his wife, Becky, upon his arrival. His wife looks at him in a puzzled manner and says, "Why do you look so roughed up?" He responds, "I got into a scuffle while attempting to save a man from being mugged." he continues, "Becky, you believe in destiny right?" Becky nods. "Well, would you beleive that i might be destined to be a hero? A protector of the shadows?" Becky is delighted by the idea and says, "Yep, im sure were all destined to do something and if this is what youre destined to do, I will help you with anything you need because I'm completely behind you." Jim hugs his wife and says, "I'm glad to know youre behind me Becky, but I dont know where to begin with this." Becky ponders the subject for a brief moment and then replies, we will need to train you and get better equipment." Jim gives his wife a farewell kiss and ventures out into the alleyway again, in search of equipment. There he finds bands of metal that he attaches to the tips of his staff. He ventures further and finds a half used roll of duct tape that he uses to rap around the center of the staff as drummers do with their drum sticks. Satisfied with his findings, he begins the return home. As he walks he hears shouts the sounds of fleeing people growing louder as they come toward him. He turns around to see who is fleeing, he realizes its a monk being pursued by a few of hood rats. Jim stands his ground and lets the monk pass, but he lashes out at the first thing he sees and nails a hood rat. The hood rat flips over from the force of the blow and lands on his head. Jim gives him a solid whack in the temple to make sure he's out of comission. The next two come in with fists flying. Jim shoves his staff straight forward, nailing the guy in the gut. The third hood rat gets past and punches Jim in the face. In a falling motion, Jim swings and in his last desperate attack, he hits him in the side. The monk who saw all of this runs up and knocks the final thug into submission. The second thug who was hit in the gut, finally collapses from loss of oxygen. Jim stands with his staff and dusts himself off. He turns to the monk and says, "Thanks, im new at this hero thing" Jim chuckles as the monk replies, "I can see that, I can also see that you need training with your staff, I would gladly like to help you learn how to use it effectively as thanks for your help." Jim replies, "Sure, I'll take all the help I can get, how about we go to my house and rest up and you train me tomorrow?" The monk nods and says, "Sounds good to me. My name is Nicholas but, call me Nick. Whats yours?" "Oh how rude of me, my name is James but, call me Jim." With that the two continued the walk back to Jim's house. Well? Like it so far?
