No not THAT one, I mean what was the very first anime you ever saw, and why did that convince you to think "Hey, this is kinda cool."

For me, it was Sailor Moon. I honestly couldn't tell ya why it convinced me, but...the funny thing is, I'm a 17 year old guy, yet I still watch the occasional episode.

First anime I ever saw was Laputa-Castle in the Sky and then Akira. I really liked the two, so I decided to get more, the next anime would be the decider of whether or not anime was my thing...

I got the Guyver series and loved it ^_^ I was about 12 or 13 then. Now Im 16 and Im addicted to anime!!

Not sure about Sailor Moon.......!!!

Well I guess the first anime that I saw was Pokemon. At the time I think I was in 7th grade, yet I didn't really know what anime was. When I was in 9th grade I went over to a friends house and I saw Akira follwed by Ghost in the Shell on the same night. It's kind of weird because actually that night I didn't enjoy watching it at all. Then about two months rolled by and all of a sudden I had a huge urge to watch Akira again. I called up my friend and asked him to bring it over to my house so we could watch it. After watching Akira for the second time I was hooked. The same friend bet me to jump into some stream (probably sewage run off...) for $80. With part of that money I went and bought Akira so I could own my own copy! Hmm come to think about it he gave me money to buy the manga too on one of his "I'm rich here's some money" days.

The first anime I saw was Sailor Moon, too, I think...

It was basically the art. The whole detail of their hair and clothes were just beautiful. Besides, my cousins were all trying to draw the Sailor Scouts at the time, so I tried drawing them too. ^_^;

Sailor Moon was my 1st too, but I really didn't like it then. I like the whole art-thing, I loved the way it was drawn so that is what made me want to see more. I really can't remember the 1st one I saw that actually made me like anime all-together! It was so long ago.....I am pretty sure it was Princess Mononoke. But I never liked Akira that much. I don't like things that make me think so hard XD! But I recently saw Laputa when I found out it was made by Miyazaki and I loved it! It was such a beatuiful story!

I watched Robotech when I was a little kid with my sister, didn't understand or remember it much though, LOL. Didn't even know what it *was* at the time, LOL. :laugh:

I would say for me it was the two console RPGs that used stylistic elements and art from anime, FFVII and Chrono Cross.

Sailor Moon wasn't really what got me hooked, though. Neither was Pokémon, surprisingly. It was Gundam Wing. I love that animé . Back when they used to show it on Toonami, I was a faithful viewer, lol. Then it went on into DBZ, and others, most recently Ranma 1/2 and Hellsing. I'm really glad I sort of fell into it, lol.

Well, my first anime was a LONG time ago, and it was Thundercats and Voltron. Was I hooked? I think I was. I always drew anime style when I was a kid. Sailor Moon was a big part of my life, but it wasn't the main thing, I don't guess. I just remember I tried to get a hold of every anime I could. I watched Akira when I was like 7 and Super Mario and Captain N and Zelda and Sonic back in Elementary School. I also watched Samurai Pizza Cats before Sailor Moon, too.

THEN came Sailor Moon. And the rest is history. One year a friend of mine wrote in my year book "Keep to your dreams and one day your hair will grow as long as Sailor Moon's." ^_^

oh yeah, I forgot all about Sonic! well, in that case, the first anime I ever watched was Sonic when I was about 7, then Sailor Moon a couple of years later. didn't know that Sonic was an anime at the time, but all the same I loved it ^_^.

I was first introduced to anime by the Sci Fi channel's old Saturday Anime block. They showed cool movies like Cashan, Demon City Shinjuku, Project Ako, Robot Wars, and 8 Man After.

After seeing these movies, I was hooked. I loved it's great, fluid animation and mature storylines.

From then on I watched anything anime. But soon, for some odd reason, Sci Fi stopped showing anime all together. That really pissed me off.
:mad:
Luckily Toonami came along.:D

My first time (like a lot of people here, it seems) was Sailor Moon. However, it took DBZ to hook me and Trigun and Cowboy Bebop to make me addicted. Of course, I haven't been a fan for that long, so I can't pull out any stories of how I used to watch Robotech...but it would so cool if I could.

Hey, if Super Mario, Captain N, Zelda, and Sonic are considered anime, then I've been a fan for longer than I thought! I used to watch those all the time...

Gah! The first anime I ever saw was Sailor Moon. I was so obsessed with that show! After the seasons drifted off I got confused and lost all interest in the show. The next anime after that was Pokemon, but I didn't get really into anime until my older brother brain washed me with Dragon Ball Z. I thank him much for that.

Probably when i was around 8 i would always watch DBZ before church scbool (i hated that stuff) and i did also watch Sailor Moon but i couldnt stand it i mean it was basically the same ending everytime which kinda got me mad and you would have to watch like 35 episodes till sailor moon would use a new attack. The art was good but i just didnt like the story line of that one. Oh well.

I think the first anime I ever saw was Sailor Moon. I used to watch it before school every morning when I was younger and I still watch it sometimes, though now I watch the uncut version. After that I saw Pokemon, which got me hooked onto anime. It still makes for good entertainment when I don't feel like thinking too hard. ^_^

First animes eh?

I think I can safely say it was "Pokemon" -- Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball are things I still cannot stand unto this day O_o If anything, they had a hand in steering me away from the genre!

But Pokemon didn't hook me into anime, it hooked me into the whole "Pokemon" deal nothing more... my anime fan-ness has to be credited to Gundam Wing... I swear... Without that show I would be a totally different person today O_o I would probably be Shakespeare obsessed or something else literature-related O_o I prefer my anime ^_^;;
